What a wicked show! I flew up from KC friday, met up with a friend in Chicago, went to a great underground insustrial club. I got to the presale line a little late waiting for my +1 unfortunately. Wow! I've seen them 3 times in the last year. Tulsa, Bonnaroo, and then Chicago. All were great shows and were very different! This show though, the songs were just outstanding! I enjoy so many of these songs live more than the album, especially some of the older songs.

I really wish I had got closer to the pit, but the other people I were with didn't want to. I wasn't feeling the crowd in my area. They seemed too stiff. Sorry if I bothered anyone with my dancing, hand waving, fist pumping, jumping up and down, and shouting, but I couldn't help myself. Another reason I wish I had been closer, to feel that everyone around me was enjoying it as much as I was.

Some cute dark skinned girl with dark curly hair who was standing next to me kept bumping into me before the show and she was worried that she was offending me. I'm never offended by people who enjoy themselves honestly and considerate of other people around them. Thank you for the beer you shared with me. smiling smiley

The crowd chanting was awesome though. Heresy = bliss. Everyone chanting "God is dead and no one cares!" was amazing. Reptile, one of my favorite songs, was mind melting with the lights and sound. Burn, Mr. Self Destruct, yeah I could on and on. What a setlist! Thank you so much for sticking it out Trent. The way you were jumping around and acting had me completely fooled. You were a raging bonfire on stage. I felt like myself and a few others in the crowd were a well contained herd of bulls ready to bust into a stampede at your whim.

I really need a live DVD of Lights in the Sky or this final tour. It's a NEED at this point.

This is the most amazing lineup Trent's ever put together for NIN and to me this will always be what NIN was meant to be. Robin, Justin, Iian, and Trent, Thank you so much. Goodbye for now, but stop by and visit sometime so we can catch up. smiling smiley

09/01/09 9:25 AM

I can't believe I didn't know all the cool shit Justin was on prior to today. He produced one of my favorite bands' new album, Division Day and he played on one of my favorite albums from last year by Daniel Martin Moore. I could kick myself! I met Robin Saturday night after the show and Justin was up there too, but I didn't have a chance to say hello.

09/01/09 9:42 AM

I keep anticipating THE BIG COMEDOWN from saturday night... but i have felt progressively better and more alive ever since. Pulled me out of a TERRIBLE funk. The AMAZING healing power of NIN. I haven't felt this good in weeks. Thank You Boys...

09/01/09 9:47 AM

AMAZING show! Completely floored by Ruiner, Heresy and Mr. Self Destruct. I have nothing to add to the reviews everyone have already posted. It was a perfect ending to a perfect day. Thank you for all the years of music behind us Trent, and I can't wait to see what the four of you guys have in store for us in the future. More volumes of Ghosts maybe?

Fuck, if I had an extra in certainly would go to you as a courtesy for taking such kick-ass photos for all of us. Rather than purchase multiple posters, though, I thought I'd buy myself one and leave the rest for my fellow NIN fans.

I barely made it.

The extent to which these set lists have been better than the NIN/JA and Wave Goodbye tour is immeasurable. If only they'd played shows like this in the first place, it would have been the greatest tour of all time.

My response “Are you fucking kidding me?” He says “No, people back here can't see” I said “Its a concert man, you can't honestly expect me to sit down” He launches into some bullshit about how these people paid for a ticket and they want to be able to see the show too. Mind you these people were SITTING DOWN. How the hell can you sit at a NIN show? The security guy kept on and on about me sitting and I told him “I'm not sitting down its a general admission show- these people could have sat anywhere they wanted, it isn't my fault they didn't get up to the balcony faster than someone else.”

I was right behind you, man, and we were NOT sitting down. Everyone was standing, and couldn't see shit because your 6'6" ass was pretending to be an orchestra conductor, writing around like a maniac.

I can speak for EVERYONE behind you when I quote the guy standing next to me: "I hope that tool rocks out so hard he falls off the balcony and gets the fuck out of the way."

Here's a note of common courtesy: If you're six and a half feet tall, with the best seat in the house, don't STAND UP, and then proceed to spread your arms out for the course of the entire show. It ruins the night for everyone else.

I'm 6'1" but thanks for the kind words nonetheless. I hoped you moved instead of just standing there bitching all night about it. I saw plenty of balcony sections that people were more than happy to sit down and watch the show. To each his or her own I suppose.

So I gave all I had back as appreciation for what I was witnessing, I was connecting with the show on the most primal level.. "acting like a maniac" as you said. I fully appreciate your stance, but since you could have sat anywhere you wanted.. it seems fairly petty to complain when you could have found someplace else to go if I was "annoying you." Looking down from my vantage point form the balcony-- on the back of the floor right next to the soundboard were people milling around with their beers. Best sound in the venue, hands down. But I can't apologize for getting into the show, in my own way.

Nobody should have 2 apologize for expressing themselves at what might have been the last NIN show...?? (or any show that you love, for that matter) Way to be a jerk and hope that someone would get seriously hurt...really? You shouldn't even have been there if you don't know how to behave @ a concert or apparently in the general public. Maybe it was your first concert, it sure sounds like it. If so, I guess you just didn't know. General admission means you...YOU,yourself, chooses where to sit/stand, it's YOUR (this is YOU again, numero uno, star player, look in the mirror) own fault that you had a bad time.

I'm a girl, 5'8", and I was in the dead center of the pit. I was punched, knocked down, stepped on...and had PLENTY of tall fuckers in front of me, and I had an AMAZING time. Wouldn't trade it for anything!

Same here. I am 5'7" and at the Chicago show in May I was stuck in the land of rampaging giants, but I had a fantastic time. It was actually my 2nd favourite NIN concert.

This whole thing is tricky. One the one hand, everyone should be able to enjoy the show in their own way, and of course, does not have to sit down, regardless of height. On the other hand, one should pay some mind to how their enjoyment might effect that of others around/behind them. Some common courtesy and consideration does apply.

I'm 5'1 so I usually have viewing issues at shows if I'm not on the rail. Had no problem at this show because I was second row behind other short people LOL! Usually, though, if I'm real polite and am like 'hey, would you mind if I stand in front of you? not like i'll block your view or anything...' most of the time people chuckle then let me go in front of them. And if not, whatever I tried and I can usually squeeze through little gaps to find a different spot.

And on a related note, if anyone has any crowd shots on the JMJ side I'd love to see them. I was right under the speaker. Love the speaker spots because the music just goes right through you and rocks you to the core. I'm pretty sure my peristalsis took a break that night cuz the music did its job for it. Nearly shat myself when they were testing the bass drums. It sounded like a BOMB going off and scared the crap out of everyone in that area. Good times....

Trent,
Fantastic - absolutely fantastic - show! So happy it was not canceled. I hope you are well and ready to rock Los Angeles tomorrow. I traveled three thousand miles from home (from Rhode Island to NYC for Terminal 5, to Chicago for the Aragon, and now to LA for the Palladium)! I cannot miss this!! Looking forward to another great, epic show - my last possibly ever it seems.

That's pretty damn cool, but I haven't shit my bed yet so it's not cool enough. I'm still hoping for some download action as to avoid the lo-rez tendencies of YouTube. Shit, none of this will matter once we get the "true" footage from Sheridan and Co. I've been wondering what's going to happen with that.

The internets are a series of tubes.

Hey yall. I posted this over in the LITS video projects section as well cause I don't really know where it belongs, but I thuoght I'd mention it here as well.

I have over an hour of HD footage from this show and really want to share it, except I don't know how to video edit and YouTube only allows videos under 10 minutes. The audio and video quality, for the most part, is perfect and it would really be a shame if I didn't get to share it.

If anybody is interested in helping out just hit me up with a PM or whatever.

09/01/09 4:56 PM

Okay, now that I've had time to digest this show.... I still don't have much to say. I think I've finally accepted the fact that NIN's done touring (for now at least)- this show was the best closure anyone could ask for.

Great meeting some people who I've never gotten to meet before, both at Friday and Saturday's shows (Staci, KayCee, Skye, Ashley, Jack-E, etc) and see old friends too. I MISS YOU ALL HORRIBLY. sad smiley I couldn't have asked for a better group to experience my last show with.

This was my 9th show, and ever since the beginning, I've wanted to see two songs: The Way Out Is Through and Mr. Self Destruct. When they made it back into rotation during the NIN|JA tour, I was so excited. Didn't see them in Clarkston or Burgettstown. Then these two Chi shows gave me one last chance. When I didn't see either song on the first night, I had given up hope. So obviously when TWOIT started on Saturday night, I completely lost my fucking shit at the rail, and then when Mr. Self Destruct came up later in the show.... I swear to god, either Trent read my mind or the planets were aligned.

We were on the rail in front of Robin again, same spot as the night before- to the nice guy who was standing behind me and decided to do the bracing at the rail for me because my knees had been fucked up the night before, if you're reading this, thank you so much!!! It was a pleasure to rail with you.

I also met Robin (FINALLY!) after the show, which was pretty much the highlight of my entire life.

Thank you NIN for the best weekend ever.
