I got to see Halo 8 performed in its entirety, live.
Twice.
(And both times with people I met on alt.music.nin, when Halo 8 was the latest release.)
The only reason I had any concerns about the show ending "without an encore" (everything after TDS was an encore, truly) is because I knew the show was scheduled to go to midnight. But, the last time I heard Trent's voice during his speech sound so shredded, he'd also had to cancel the next night's show.
The rail was pretty intense, even to the right of Robin. I'm glad I was able to hold out, since it turned out the pit floor got "closed" early on. Someone wedged between m0 and I at one point, which wasn't a huge problem except that she and the old dude behind her (who is probably
my age, sigh) were chatting it up during "The Downward Spiral" (the song) and blocking my view by holding her camera & arm up really high. Most of the rail "regulars" seem to make an effort to not block views with their cameras, or arms.
However, even with the pressure and heat, I was not as hot & sweaty & gross as I felt even not being pressed up against *anyone* at Webster.
The bass levels during Mew were vibrating my throat & neck in a way that made me feel like I might puke. So... their music might have been good, but I don't remember much more than how sick it made me feel. I was glad to see that NIN's mixing seemed to have fixed this, or... maybe I'm already so connected with the music that such things wouldn't distract me.
Also, Gary Numan has definitely aged well. He is SO not the guy I remember from the "Cars" video. What a treat!
Thanks again for such an awesome show!

Oddly, this trip has garnered more comments about my spirit level earrings than I've had in years. You can order your own set
