Oh happy day

Great show. Metal was a nice treat.

Sucks about the merch booth though. They should have limited 1 event shirt per person to make sure they go into fans hands not some douchebag who tries to resell them for profit. L4M3

I love my life! Thank you boys for an otherworldly experience. I think my eardrums imploded. smiling smiley in the thick of the heat and the crowd, and being so close to the stage... SICNH nearly made me bawl my eyes out. 20 years of brilliance, Trent. Thanks again for everything you've given the world.
See you Tuesday!!

Yeah I was trying to get an echoplex shirt for myself and some guy at the booth literally got 10 shirts and a crapload of posters right be before they got to me. I was the next person and I got the second to last Echoplex shirt (medium) there was a XXL left but that wasn't going to fit me or my +1 so I left it up for grabs rather than being a douche and selling it on Ebay. I did get the tour shirt (wrong dates and all) which is really nice with "1989 NIN 2009" on the front.

Great show and a good crowd I picked up a guitar pick at the end.

One of the sickest Nails shows ever... I can't believe I got to buy a ticket there at the show!

09/07/09 1:45 AM

They certainly played thier asses off, and I left everything I had in that pit; but, somehow I feel I've seen this before. Were the set lists switched? Will the rescheduled wiltern now be what echoplex was supposed to be?

09/07/09 1:45 AM

Just got back to the hotel and uploaded a few videos from the show. A full review will come soon.

The band seemed a little sloppy tonight -- a couple of noticeable mistakes, but overall, a great show.

Compared to the Bowery Ballroom show, this one seemed louder, or the crowd seemed quieter. I'm not sure which it was. The Bowery crowd were loud and into the show from the very start, whereas the Echoplex crowd were definitely into it, but seemed to be taking things in more and got more vocal as the show went on. Maybe it was just me though.

I'd love to know this too. Anyone have any insight into whether this is the setlist that was originally intended for this venue or if this is what was planned for the original Fonda date?

i am so happy, everyone there was awesome, thanks again trent and guys, you worked your asses off for us. we love you all.

Wait, they were going to play Atmosphere and........didn't???!!!! I'm suddenly HUGELY disappointed.

09/07/09 2:12 AM

Yeah I think the quote was "That's no way to start an encore"

Pssh.

I've come to expect the textbook sets but figured that tonight might be different for some reason. Not really. Great time tho and around awesome people for the most part. Only gripe was the camera guy dead center on the floor. What a fucking dick. I understand you're trying to do your job but that job trumps the good time of those around you? Fuck off.

To the girl in front of me with her septum pierced and short curly hair, I love you. Thanks for rocking out with me.

Til' Wiltern.

09/07/09 2:44 AM

Yeah, great show - but it was hot as balls and as much as I wanted to go absolutely crazy, I'm pretty sure I'd have passed out mid-set. heh.

09/07/09 2:45 AM

Holy shit ! Words can't describe how fantastic that was.
It's going to take me days to come down from the high I got from what might be the greatest show ever. The crowd was really cool. There were no assholes, except for the dick that bought up all the shirts. Thanks DICKHEAD ! They put a limit on tickets, why not do the same for merch? Anyways, I wanted to thank Trent, Robin, Justin, Ilan and Gary for an amazing night. Thank you, thank you, thank you ! A very special thanks to Trent for all that you have done and given us over the past 20 years. Thanks to Dave from the U.K. for getting me in, sorry about the Wiltern. Hello to the 2 girls(Kara and Wendy) from Vancouver. Have a safe trip home. Now I can't wait til' Thursday!!!!!!!!!!!!

Great show lots of energy. Had a great (and interesting) time hanging out and camping out with everyone. Never thought I would be able to say that I slept in a parking lot in LA. Worth every minute of it to be on rail, right in front of robin. Thanks Jess so much for doing this with me! Gina, you and Jackie did awesome in the pit. Too much fun! Now just have to decide if I can make it back for Wiltern, blah!

09/07/09 2:53 AM

Favorite moment: at the end of Burn, when TR wrung out his shirt over his guitar, as if he was putting out a fire. Lovely.

09/07/09 2:54 AM

ROBIN....you hit me on the head with a water bottle....! i guess i should have been payin more attention......awesome....

show was ridiculous.....great....the best i ever been to... ended up in 3 persons behind the rail.... thanks to hellsgreeter...jaime...susan...bryan..jeff...casual jesus...nightshade.. n synthetik .and to all the others i talked to... it was great to chat while waitin...thanks guys for a great show!! cant wait to wiltern!!

09/07/09 3:32 AM

After waiting around outside at both the lower and upper entrances without a ticket for most of the show, a club employee got me inside (for free!) during Metal and I got to see everything from then onward. I've never been able to see the band in a venue this small, and it was really special to be there in a crowd of people who really appreciated the music and were all so into it. Trent's voice sounded like it has recovered to 100% and the whole band was in top form. Gary Numan sounded great too. I don't think any of us will ever forget this show!

Also, did anyone else notice Jared Leto?

I feel so lucky to have been able to experience such a wonderful concert (HUGE thanks to TheSceneStar)!! The highlight moments for me were "Physical (You're So)" and "Metal" with Gary Numan in the flesh. Now I see why Echoplex was such a big deal to get into!!

Ya "epic" is the adjective I've used describing this nite...feel so lucky after scoring tickets. The whole "wishfull thinking" line, the wristbands, the wait on the wall...riot girl and your friend, ATX bro, meeting maryelle and ninfreak finally... my brain and body is so fried, I can't remember all the names. I'm at a loss to describe how cool these people are. Thanks for creating and keeping the good vibe all nite.

After the "epic" entry. Being the 1st 20, non-ticketed in line....the giant soundboard area, the anticipation, the warmth, the crush, the NIN show I expected, worthy setlist (I loved no Closer, sad we missed Atmosphere), great energy, some talking and giggling early, some shhh's n stfu's dispensed, the "epic" quietness to the end of Hurt...the HEAT, the SWEAT, a sardine can in a microwave...

Left destroyed, only to rebuild...ready for Fonda and Wiltern. Thankful I have these tickets. Hope the AC works better in these next shows. Maybe 1 or both of these shows will get more of the "varied" setlist treatment. Thanks for Ruiner, TWOIT, Gone, Still, Non-Entity, Gary (he was bad ass tonight) a sick ass SICNH, and the bad ass BASS in Burn. Fucking A! That was awesome, and a new experience in sonic possibilities... and the band, as always kicking ass...

If the next 2 shows are as good or better..."epic" may be an understatement to describe these shows and experience.

A big thanks to:

1. Assholes who spent >$100 on the same piece of merchendise in multiple quantities

2. Hired assholes whose cameras not only blocked my view, but who also didn't know how to fucking film. When you're in march of the pigs, zooming all the way in on Trent is like trying to get a still shot on a goddamn roller coaster. What was the point?

3. People who gave up their pit spots to get lifesaving water. A+ fan rating.

4. Whoever designed the echoplex without an industrial strength Rezner air conditioner...

5. Oh, and the fucking wannabe photojournalists who had to hold up their cameras to capture every waking second of hurt. Hint: when you're snapping the same picture 36 times, odds are good you've gotten it. Also, find your slr's LCD controls and turn down the fucking LCD brightness already

anyway, just nitpicking. Justin looked really hot (as in sahara) up there.

WOW.

wow.

This was exactly how I wanted my tour to end (had to refund Wiltern and Fonda cuz I have to be back in Detroit this week for 2 homicide trials). In March 1990 I first saw NIN at the Latin Quarter in Detroit, a 400-500 capacity venue. And 68 shows and 20 years later, I wanted to end at the Echploex, another 500 capacity venue. Trent was right about this all coming full circle. Loved the set list, LOVED Gary Fucking Numan again, loved everything.

Trent. I despise hero worship in all forms, but you are a fucking genius. I'm glad that I could live this chapter of life with you. Enjoy what comes next, and continue making fantastic music to add to your legacy for the miserable wretches of tomorrow.

As for me. I've always said that NIN live is equally as genius as the music, and these 20 years of shows have easily been some of the best and happiest moments in my life. And last night was NO exception, as for 2+ hours I was not my dying, sick 40 year old self but was a healthy, disillusioned 20 year old me again. Sigh.

And for the whining pigs. Yeah, the venue was overcrowded and HOT. Some assholes bought all the merch. There were a LOT of cameras. But seriously? At the very last of NIN live you really wanna nitpick and whine? Seriously?
