I LOVED it!!

We were in the first floor section behind the pit and I have to say that the pit looked absolutely TAME compared to where we were. Hardly room to breathe, getting crushed, pinned, thrown all over....meanwhile the pit was just standing there...oh well, better for me!

The set-list was fucking epic, the band was tight as hell, I'm SO happy that I got a ticket this morning!

Side-note, I'm sure there were more than this, but we all personally saw Ron Jeremy, Penn Jillette, Tony Hawk, and the dark skinned/light haired guy from No Doubt (sorry, dont know his name). Anybody see any other famous people?

no one noticed RICK RUBIN who sitting right next to Penn Jillette.

I said hi to Rick Rubin. Then I took his seats after main set, cause he had left.

Over 3 hours and 30 mins of NIN. Amazing SHOW! NIN took the stage around 9:15p and left around 12:45a.

All I can say is Trent def saved the best for last!

The sound was pristine in this venue, excellent choice for a finale (even though it was not planned that way).

I did not get to watch any of the opening acts (work and LA Traffic) but was there right on time to watch NIN take the stage. Got balcony seats, which to my surprise were pretty good.

Thanks NIN... you will be missed in the live circuit!

EDIT: TR did mention that NIN will NOT be touring anymore, but they WILL be making music. He said that Justin, Ilan and Robin will still be making music individually and with NIN as well! There were quite a few HD Cameras all around the venue, so def expect something!

3 hours 15 minutes, look at a watch next time.

-WOW! WOW! WOW!
-NIN means so much to so many. Great stories, great people everywhere, good times for all!
-Beautiful building...ya the sound in the pit wasn't all there..like the vocals were going over our head...but when so close, it doesn't matter that much...
-BTW, pits without thousands pushing towards the stage are always a little weird. Its incorrect to say it lacked energy. It was still fun down there. Pretty much a perfect balance of chaos, emotion and respect. Obviously the other tiers had more people to squeeze the rail resulting in harsher conditions. We had to create our own pressure and chaos...
-If you folded your ticket in half, wrapped it around your wrist, hid your blue one...well you coulda been in the pit too. Worked for 5 of us, 2 got caught...what a treat for those that dare...this and being in the 20 who got in at echo..."well isn't that special" (church lady voice)
-My pre show conversation with TrentVanegas about nails, your interview, both of us on our 28th show, etc...u are so cool and I can see why Trent lets you interview him. Sorry I wanted to say goodbye.
-I told the biggest, ugliest, meanest guy in the pit to stfu during Hurt...and I'm here to talk about it.
-Setlist was great as usual. Me I'm Not stood out to me, along with the perfect ending of In This Twilight...
-Penn and Ron were both at the Vegas show LITS tour. True fans.
-The band was so alive tonight. Never have I seen Justin snarling and flailing around so hard...Robin smiling and shredding all show, like it was the most fun he ever had... made my soul feel good. The attempted destruction of certain musical instruments. The sadness in the eyes of Justin and Robin as they left the stage and Trent's lingering a bit longer at the end...I got choked up too.
-Friends I may or may not ever see again, but will always remember...sorry I missed you Dustin n Marissa. Take care Bill n Erika, Ryan n Cleo, Garret n Jimmy, and Ray my showbroslut. Look me up in Austin if you come down.
-Trent and all those who have supported him all this time....THANK YOU for 20 years of music that has meant more to me than you could ever know. Don't be a stranger, please.

-VV

It was a great show! Surprised no one got hurt during Wish when all the drums were being thrown around.

Did anyone see what happened to the security guy during MOTP? Was he hit by the mike stand?

Little known fact the real reason TR has decided to not tour anymore is because he figures it's the only way he can get away from the twins.

nobody has said it wasnt awesome..! You don't have to compare and bitch if you dont want to. Everyone else is entitled to.

Trent wasn't sick for this show as some of the other recent ones so automatically its gonna be a better show.

I do think its weak when people are upset that certain songs aren't played.. be happy with what was played! They dont want to play the same shit every night. 37 song set, is sick!!

wow, what a fraking show.

Definately one of top 3 NIN shows ever, up there with woodstock. This show will be talked about in the years to come.

I have enjoyed other NIN shows more because of other reasons (backstage, on the rail, not having assholes around talking and being rude etc) but the band was AMAZING tonight. three and half hours. Trent should be proud of himself and everyone involved. I would definately love to have this show released offically and part of my collection.

Sorry to see not everyone had the same experience. From my point of view (on the floor by the soundboard) the crowd seemed to be rocking HARD, especially once the show got rolling. There was a definate vibe in the room. I love watching the speakers hanging off the balcony shake violently.

Did not bring my video cam for this, I wanted to enjoy. I felt so disconnected trying to tape Palladium. I even stopped posting songs on twitter. Sorry, but it looked like you had it under control. Also enjoyed browsing the Access thread afterwords. It's cool to know so many people followed along. And nice job with #nin trending so high (and for so long)

Met Veronica De La Cruz by the sound board. Expressed my condolenses for Eric and asked her to keep fighting the good fight. And we think we saw Jeordie White walking around on the floor.

Random thoughts and observations - PLEASE COMMENT:

Trent's manager (one of the top managers and most powerful people in the in the music biz) sat next to the brilliant music blogger Bob Lefsetz (Lefsetz.com). (Ron Jeremy had better seats than both of them - front row, dead-center on the rail in the balcony!) Trent's lawyer (the guy who eviscerated Trent's OLD manager in court - hardcore NIN fans know the story) was in the balcony as well. Rick Rubin sat next to Penn Jillette, before they both left early. Evan Seinfeld, singer/bass player from Biohazard and actor on HBO's "OZ," as well as VH1's reality show "Supergroup," was there with TWO dates. Tony Hawk's already been mentioned.

Does anyone else think the only reason Mike Garson got a piano solo (that sounded NOTHING like NIN's music to me), was to give Trent and the band a short break?

I know this is entirely Trent's doing, but would anyone else BESIDE me have rather had MORE Trent/NIN tonight and NO Garson/ Numan/ Dillinger E.P/ Navarro/ A. Ross? Do those guys REALLY add that much to a show? I've seen a lot of NIN concerts going back 15 years now, it's always ONLY been NIN on stage, and I've never felt anything was missing as far as "special guests."

Am I the only one, or does everyone else's cool, untorn ticket from the last NIN show EVER, also have the WRONG DATE? (The original, UN-rescheduled date, as opposed to yesterday, the actual date of the show). And if so, is anyone as bummed as me about that?

Did Adrianne Curry really wait for hours outside in the hot sun with all the other serious NIN fans!?

Did they ONLY make pins for the Palladium show?

Nonetheless, it was a truly amazing show. 3+ hours and almost 40 songs.

What are YOUR thoughts?

Yes they only made those little pins for palladium..this show seemed totally unorganized compared to the last few. Everything from the lines outside, to the ticketing situation, to capacity.
Did they oversell the venue?? There were SO many ppl that were supposed to be in the balcony & didn't get a spot, upon trying to stand in various places got yelled at repeatedly by mean security women. I was being super nice, asking her where it would be ok for me to go, she just got madder. When I said m'amn I'm trying to work with u. She screamed I'm trying to work with u!!! I was so calm & polite & all I got all night was treated crappy with contradictory info from the security! It really left a bad taste in my mouth. The same thing happened to my friend. I'll never go back to the wiltern. I heard some ppl saying if they knew they were going to get stuck standing squished up in the corner of the balconey behind the whole crowd also standing up, to the point they couldn't even see, they wouldn't have bought tickets. They couldve listened to the show the next day or at least seen it on YouTube. I kind of saw where they were coming from, the guys put on a great show but for some of us that spent half the night getting yelled at for no reason by security,& not able to find a seat(I got to the venue early too!), but then yelled at that we had to find a seat????? It's like whhhhaaatt??!!

I've been a fan since the late 90's,& let's hope if Trent or the guys ever choose to do a show again, it's NOT at the wiltern.

as we're walking out of the Wiltern, my bf turned to me and asked, "is this the concert you always dreamed about?" why, yes. yes, it was.

even from the nosebleed seats (way back in the balcony), we could feel the energy from the crowd, from Trent, from the band. i was at the Palladium show which was awesome in its own way. last night Trent seemed more relaxed and just happy to be there. it showed. thank you NIN for a magical night.

There is no question that Adrianne is a serious NIN fan: I can confirm it. She found a ticket holder who had a +1. She showed up at around 8am and sat in the line just as the rest of us did until her ticket holder arrived. We were the group of four with the boat in front of Adrianne's group in the first line, in the second line, and we were with her in the pit. She knows every single word.

We were only in the sun for the last couple hours of the first line - it was shaded by Ralph's (the grocery store) up until about 1pm then we broke out the umbrellas.

In the pit, there was a drunk cunt behind me to my left who kept running her mouth about nothing but personal bullshit over several songs. I nearly grabbed her by the hand to lead her out of the pit telling her if she wants to continue to run her mouth to do so in the lobby. Her guy finally understood after hissing shhhhhh to him because she shut her mouth after that.

It very well may have been Trent's brother-in-law standing behind me to my right.

I was at all four shows - the Palladium show is the only show that had a button.

09/11/09 8:37 AM

Amazing show - I'm still speechless.

Should anything happen with my flight from Los Angeles to Boston on this morning of September 11 know that I died one of the happiest people alive having witnessed the final Nine Inch Nails performance. Additionally, closing with "In This Twilight" was an absolute perfect way to end a three-hour set, a week-long vacation, and a 15-year fanship. Thanks for everything, Trent.

Wishing you all the best,
James

I feel much more sad and weird than I thought I would after this...it's hard to believe it was the last show.

Definitely the best NIN show I've ever seen. All the guests, the songs, the length, the finality...ending it with In This Twilight was the best they could've done.

It's hard to effectively describe my entire experience right now (it'll be pretty long when I do, so look out), so I'll do it later.

I heard someone say their ticket had the actual 9/10/09 date on it, but that they recently purchased their ticket with the newly released seats after refunds had been issued due to the date change. It sounds like everyone who purchases tickets early had the 9/5/09 date, as I am sure the tickets were printed before the date change occurred. For those who purchased days before the show, their tickets likely were printed with the correct 9/10/09 date...

My pleasure.
The point is to prevent scalping and to get as many of the fans into the shows as possible.

When it seems that there is nothing else, there is always hope.

The highlight was when I hooked the two guys from Manchester, U.K. up with the +1 they needed for the Fonda when I was in the line on Hollywood Blvd. I'll just say that iPhones are worth it.

I give special props to all the people who were ticket holders and did not flake on their +1s: you all have made so many people incredibly happy. Here is to you!

I myself flew out to CA with only Palladium tickets and ended up going to all four CA shows due to two very generous Echoplex ticket holders. You two know who you are!

09/11/09 9:10 AM

I can confirm Adrianne was there far earlier than me. I got there about 1:30PM and she was far far ahead in line.

I'm not really sure why though. I went with a cute girl and she asked the bouncer at the pit if we could slide by for a tip. He said absolutely for $50 for the two of us. In retrospect I would have shown up much later had I known how easily this could be arranged. I'm sure Adrianne could probably have slid in herself for free, but you gotta love her spirit on NINs

The biggest thing I learned on this last 10 site tour (I got to 7 with Webster being my favorite) is how nice NIN fans are. They may have scared me 20 years ago, but we've all matured. I sold 7 tickets at face value and gave 3 away. Many others did the same and it was great to see. Really crushed the scalpers on this one

Thanks Trent, et all. Amazing!

Usually I just lurk around here but after that show, I NEED to say something.

Mr. Trent, you went out in style last night. Thank you for not ending at midnight, thank you for not ending after the first or second encore. That was a show that I will remember forever!

I'm really looking forward to what you do next, even if it is all unicorns and rainbows.

09/11/09 10:02 AM

Some of the venue staff seemed to be pretty crabby, but once you went around to enough of them you could get what you wanted. My guest needed to sit in the handicap section and we were allowed to walk in before the doors opened without any problem. Once we were inside the people working the venue were really nice. It's amazing what you can get by just smiling and being sweet with people.

I thought the show was incredible.. just to be there for the "last" one was special. Musically speaking I liked the Fonda show much better but last night was in my top 3 NIN shows for sure.

09/11/09 10:14 AM

Here are some HD videos I captured last night. "Hurt" is still uploading (should be done in an hour), but you'll see it on my YouTube channel as soon as it's up. In the meantime:

Something I Can Never Have

Piggy (feat. Dave Navarro)

Atmosphere

Trent's final speech (saw somebody posted this earlier, just putting it here with the others in case anybody missed it)

Down In It (audio not very good, but Synthetik will have it)

09/11/09 11:15 AM

Between this show and the Fonda it was cerainly an epic sendoff (though I'm in denial that it's forever.)

I guess you could say that the pit was tame just because there weren't that many people allowed in. The moshing really got going in the second half of the show.

I personally enjoyed Mike Garson, I thought he added quite a bit to the Fragile tracks they played.
