i'm supposed to be studying for GREs and self banned from innernetz cold turkey to get my shit together. but remembered lots of ppl here sayin they were sick. add me to NinFluenza list. it all started around palladium week and i know i went through random H2O bottles at echoplex like a crack whore. been completely out of it for the past 3 days. not in "kill me now plz" stage yet but yeah tongue sticking out smiley

been listening to still and bridge school benefit show a lot recently. was thinking, how funny would it have been if he had chosen to play the entire lost highway or the crow soundtracks at wiltern and that was it?

I tweeted that yesterday. Remembered it from the show and looked it up.

Also love the way the all play together in facing each other.

IMO I think this band as a unit got along really well. And I think it showed in the performances. Probably helps that Trent does not attack or molest his bandmates on stage anymore. lol

For the record, same here. No flu symptoms yet (knock on wood). Does feel my like my head is in a vice though.

where were you sitting in the balcony? confused smiley i may have given you the ninfluenza.

i was in the balcony at Wiltern and had a scratchy throat by the end of the show; didn't realize what it was until Friday morning when i couldn't stop coughing. i caught it in the pit at Palladium or Fonda.

i'm sorry.

I'm 99.8% certain that I don't have the herp (no open sores) or bronchitis (no respiratory distress). The only symptom I have thus far is a low-grade fever, which means I have an infection of some sort.

I'm afraid to take my sock off and look because it very well could be my mangled (and infected) sore big toe that is the cause of my fever. I had better take a look because getting it amputated due to uncontrolled infection is not a very appealing thought to me.

09/14/09 10:33 PM

So, who got the herp?

I think It's probably coming back up to the B.C climate after being in California for three weeks, but I've got the NINfluenza as well.

oh woe, today was my first day back at uni and it was not fun.

sungam123 posted:

Drakh was commenting that there seems to be two different illnesses going around: those with the respiratory infection and others with flu-like symptoms.

Newly herp-infected humans exhibit flu-like symptoms and sometimes blisters in the area of contraction. Cold sores/fever blisters are herp and chicken pox/shingles are also very closely related to herp.

09/14/09 10:46 PM

Sore throat, little coughing, body aches, shivers, and general malaise.

Ninfluenza is a price I'm willing to pay.

No worries. I change my socks every day. I work in an industrial facility and wear boots (Docs) to work in the event I have to leave my creature comfort office and make a field trip. Leather boots are not the best for letting our feet breath.

As for the Dr., I will make that determination after waking up from my Benedryl-induced sleep.

dont think i wrote this when talking in an earlier since i just talked about the show, this one is about the line. ive never had so much fun in any line before. thanks to James for makinf laugh the whole time. every time someone would stop by and ask what we were waiting for we'd say we're waiting for Hannah Montana or the Jonas Brothers. Funny thing was some people looked like they believed us. Then another lady asked and we said Nine Inch Nails, and she said "who?" James just said 'I want to fuck you like an animal" which she replied to "excuse me?" and he kept on repeating the lyric. Her face was priceless. And James wasnt even trying to be funny, he was actually trying to tell her who NIN was since closer is NIN's most popular song.

And to those in the back of the line after midnight, who can forget the rat/maggots. i was sleeping next to the garbage and it smelled horrible. it was hard to get any sleep but manage to fall asleep at arpund 3:30 and at 5:30 am the garbage truck comes and wakes me up. Itw as loud and the tires were like 2 ft from my head. its scared me. As it took the garabage maggots seem to come of the garbage as it was being shaken but the truck and were around me. very disgusting, worst night ive had, but it was totally worth it. awesoem story to tell of what i did to see nin.

o yea almost forgot about $5 Larry, the guy trying to sell bootleg merch. we told him we didnt want shirt but if he had any umbrellas wed buy them. he gets on the phone to try to get some and i heard the funniest conversation ever. i cant remember everything word for word because i was too busy laughing but pretty much he arugued with some one else over umbrellas. "get your fucking ass here and get me some god damn fucking umbrellas!!! people want umbrellas cuz theyre fucking hot. i dont care how you get the them, but get me some fucking umbrellas!!!" haha good times

LOL - thats hilarious

I will give props to the ladies selling the hotdogs in the afternoon, those were tasty. And the guys selling $1 cokes and waters after the show. Probably stolen but much needed.

Its [nice, i guess is the word for it] to find out that alot of other people are battling some kind of sickness too. So I don't feel bad when I called in sick to work today, especially after a weekend. [I can't stand people who do that, cause c'mon, 95% of the time they're NOT sick.] ANYWAY.

What can I say that hasn't been said already. I was up in the balcony [only 3rd row back] and had a fucking blast. From that point you can see everything, watch the crowd, and definitely hear when everyone starts to sing along with the songs. It was a great night.

Thanks Trent, Robin, Justin and Ilan.

Got that stupid sickness, too. I even know who gave it to me. There was a guy in the Fonda line in front of me. He was complaining of upper GI problems because of ingesting large amounts of ibuprofen (for his persistent fever, sore throat, etc) with large amounts of alcohol. By the end of the Fonda, I felt sick but figured I was being a hypochondriac. Then it was a minor sore throat for a few days, Wiltern included--- sorry if I got anyone on the balcony sick(4th row right side, right next to VIP sec). Friday was flu-like. Saturday was flu like and full on cold. Just starting to feel better. Ninfluenza... Great shows, but I didn't need the sickness to feel like I was a part of something special. Oh well. I guess the Wave Goodbye NINfluenza is sort of like the brown acid at Woodstock---- part of the experience that some of us literally shared.

09/15/09 4:32 AM

There is no way I should have went to work yesterday because now I am wondering how many people I have infected and if I infected my prego boss. It's definitely going to be a sick day for me today and possibly again tomorrow.

i caught the tambourine that trent used in the ruiner,it was really hard to stay in the mosh pit holding a tambourine, fuck what an amazing show!!!!! Thank you for all who made it possible, thank you for the great memoeries!!!
Dude, were you the guy who went crowd surfing with the tambourine in your hands??!!
I saw you land and take a ten foot drop straight to the head. That looked beyond painful! People shouldn't have been crowd surfing in the section behind the pit, but the security was absolutely awful about trying to catch them too...

The section behind the pit was way rougher than the actual pit.

I can't believe how many people came sailing over my head--and off a cliff.

yeah my back is still hurting, but if i had landed on my head im sure i would be dead, death at the last NIN show.............that sounds awesome to me

Well, fortunately my only health problem from the concert so far is a bit of ninancholy...

Seriously, for those who are hoping not to get sick or are just beginning to feel some symptoms, here's something that's always worked well for us:

Take a trip to the health food store and get the following:

Astragalus root
Echinacea
Vitamin C (Ester C or calcium ascorbate)

I take 4 astragalus, 3 echinacea, and 1000 mg C two or three times a day. The astragalus and the echinacea are immune boosters. I find if I take this stuff when I've been exposed to something I usually don't get sick. If I jump on it when I first start feeling symptoms, generally I'm less sick and for a shorter time than whoever has the same bug.

And if you already have a full-blown case of ninfluenza, I'm not sure this will help much. It might, though. It's worth a try...
