Hey NINers! Raggedy old Yoshata's mom checking in on this thread. Thought I'd insert my two-cents *cough, cough* suppose-itory...
Theodora posted:I have never encountered line drama at a NIN show until these LA shows. Any other NIN show I've been to no one camped out for days either. I mean showing up at 6 am has always been acceptable but before that just wasn't necessary, that is why I was shocked at the Palladium when people were camped out the day before. But at these shows I did encounter a lot of people I had never seen at shows before so it might just be a few select individuals who have entitlement issues.
I've taken my kid, Yoshata, to 5 NIN shows this past year. She, being young

, always wanted to line up as soon as possible to get 'on the rail' or, close to it. In terms of the Wiltern, it was most definitely a camp-out situation. In hindsight, the, IMHO, perpetual and predictable line 'issues' should have indicated that, indeed, camping out was unnecessary (GI-FUCKING-NORMOUS line swell pre-show). But, she was full of adrenaline

and I wasn't about to begrudge her the opportunity.
jenhickey68 posted:There was line drama at the Santa Barbara NINJA show due to the fact that the charity donation people were allowed to stay inside after their meet and greet. Some people are just prone to see the glass as half empty no matter what happens. So sad that a small but vocal few end up giving the whole scene a bad reputation.
We didn't know about the drama at SB until we woke up the next day. It didn't matter a bit. We still ended up on the rail (excellent

venue). Yoshata (Olivia) had shared with me the information about the last minute donations and extras that came with them. We weren't able to donate at that time, but it was extremely generous of those who did and, I felt, they deserved something special. Seems to me, after all was said and done, the more vociferous travelling fans found superior vantage points in the end.

Oh my godaaaaaaah

. I left my firstborn camping out in that stinky, rat/maggot infested alley overnight! But, then, she was in great company; NIN fans and a late-night snack delivery by Dave Navarro (huge thanks to the fan that took their picture--it's great!)
I have thoroughly enjoyed each of the NIN/NINJA shows I have been to with my daughter. Every show has had its own unique quirks, nuances and drama. Each venue presented its own challenges and discomforts (the terms sweaty, stinky, and line-cutting poop-heads come to mind). Cheaters and usurpers will always be with us. I've been both in my lifetime. However, I am proud to say that my kid has her father's morals and not mine. So I've been damn proud and happy to wait out the lines, honestly, with her, and the cool, non-drama NIN fans, every time, knowing that she was experiencing her own personal heaven each show.
Thanks to NIN; thanks for your music and thanks for giving so much to your fans.
Oh. Strwbrryjam, so great to see you in the seated area in the first tier

. I was the tired, inebriated blonde clinging to the wall, pit left, all by my lonesome (in case you glanced that way--I'm guessing you were quite focused on the show!) Heal quickly!!
