Am I the only one who DOESN'T want Year Zero 2?

Maybe the follow-up is actually the TV miniseries (which still exists BTW), which will, instead of being a sequel, expand on the story of Year Zero and fill in all the blanks.

i would prefer to see another ghosts, or maybe an album like with teeth or the slip, as opposed to YZ2. why? mystery. with YZ2 there's not much mystery involved. we know the themes, basically what we're going to get - a post-apocalyptic narrative on top of good tracks. i'm sure it would be better than any other album by another artist, but it's still kind of boring to me.

however, YZ really marks the beginning of trent's wild creativity that we have all been enjoying. it seems like with with teeth, he was a little unsure about himself, his style. but starting with YZ, then ghosts, then slip, and now the social network, well - it's all just been flowing so freely, you know?

in short, even though i'd like YZ to stay asleep, i am damn, damn, damn grateful for it, because it was the beginning of a great phase for us NINers.

Trent doesn't strike me as the type to do a part 2 of anything (and before anyone cites the Ghosts, those were all done in 4 weeks). He'll move forward and the next NIN album will be better for it. Year Zero's an opus on it's own; it doesn't need a sequel.

I really really hope that this is not the end for YZ

I personally don't want a YZ2 as I also did not like Year Zero as much as the other albums. I'm not big into the whole political scene, but don't get me wrong I enjoyed the album and liked hearing the story of year zero, just liked the previous albums much more. It's time to get onto a new subject or something revisited (not politics) its been covered in the past 3 albums(one more than others) I would like a new sound and a new story. Trent is known for doing what he wants and not what other people want so much. It's worked out great for him for 2 decades. The only thing is WHEN?? The magical question that also haunts Trent hahaha. But whatever he does if he does it , will be awesome.

in the end it isn't our choice, i say we let Trent take NIN where he feels it needs to go, and save me the bullshit that you are a consumer that makes his decision with his wallet and you are the one that has to buy that shit. we are fans of an artist that we enjoy, we buy his albums out of love for his talent and creativity, and to make demands about what you would like to hear is your expeditions about what you want to buy, don't censer the artist with demands but support his decision as a independent and creative mind.

I agree, doesn't really need a second part to it. That does stand on it's own.

I want the second part because it was meant to be two parts.

One thing I hope (and I'm sure Trent will), is that there isn't just a second ARG. I just don't want a rehash of 2007. That's what I believe should stand alone.

I hope there's a more original mindfuck to go with the second part. I kind of hope the second part meshes with the TV series itself somehow. That would be really cool.

I have the quake soundtrack, kind of has that feel to it. I never seen the series.

Well, it's not like the guy is just being lazy. We're lucky he's constantly working, that means more music for us.

Yes, it's been a while since The Sleep, but we've had HTDA, the Social Network Soundtrack and now the TGWTDT.

And Year Zero is a SICK album, even if you don't care about the ARG or the story/concept, the music is mindblowing.

How can there be a sequel? At the end of Year Zero the world comes to an end.
