Is there an overall theme to the slip? is it in anyway connected to Year Zero or is the Art is Resistance are just growing bigger the that album now?

09/10/08 8:27 PM

How many copies of the CD have been sold so far?

09/10/08 11:09 PM

What is happening with the crazy use of limiters and compression on this album? Are the producers using physical limiters or digital? i must know

if you pull the booklet out too fast which will crease first, the booklet or the cover?
why dont you answer the questions?

lol...I agree- what exactly is the point of this thread? (HA! I just asked another question that probably won't get answered.) confused smiley

which song was the the album written around? or which was written first?

Hi,

I've got a quick and important question:

I am thinking of using some of the multitrack sound pieces as sound effects, and The Slip + Ghosts I-IV as background music in a podcast and a short movie I'm working on.

Would this be legal to publish on a website since it's under creative commons?
(I won't be selling it.)

Any clarification would be great!

Most likely somewhere under 250,000.
But seriously I don't think official figures have been released.

1. Most likely the cover, why don't you just try taking it out slowly?
2. Why don't you? - Answer those two.

So fans like myself can answer other fans (that's you) questions.
Sometimes people like asking questions and selfishly not answer others.

I would have to say demon seed was written first (as it appears to be a ghosts track) although it's hard to judge exactly what the album was based around.

Most likely a metaphorical one.

So long as you're not going to be making any money it's fine.

Thanks for your useless and ignorant info Bard, but it appears this thread was started by a forum administrator to be moderated by the same forum admin/other moderator. Sooo...http://smiliesftw.com/x/moon.gif

You asked a question which I answered (there have been no official sales figures recorded)

And i had a go at you (not as a mod, but as some-one who see's a selfish brat) to patiently wait for answers instead of acting like a tool.

I downloaded both the mp3 and FLAC 24/96 versions, and when I went to play the FLAC 24/96, it definitely wasn't trent reznor's music. Something very... strange...

Can anyone else confirm this?

To us who don't have will, time nor bandwith to download the high-bitrate version, can you be more specific in what's so "strange"? What did you hear (if it wasn't NIN)? What did it sound like? Etc etc.

09/18/08 9:31 AM

I downloaded it last night. It is 100% the real version of the slip.

09/18/08 10:23 PM

it was electronic music, very dark, and extremely loud. If your speakers were set at a normal setting it would blast through so loud you might lose some hearing doing so. Most of it was just drum loops and ambient synths. Kinda gave you the shivers to listen to.

.. Dose it seem like The Slip resemble some aspects of Ghost I-IV. In the songs 999,999 Corona Radiata and The Four of Us Are Dying they all seem like they where from Halo 26. Maybe Trent was still feeling the vibe from it or something.

Have you heard 38 Ghosts V yet?

But it's just an evolution of Trent's music, you have the base elements coming together and then a new twist.

09/19/08 5:00 PM

Well 38 ghosts was used as the basis for Demon Seed, that's all I know for sure.

ok... which ghosts track is Demon Seed, then?
also, do you think The Slip is the follow- up to Year Zero, or just another NIN album with Year Zero themes?

oh... my bad
is there any actual elease of 38 ghosts V, or is it just in the limited edition multitrack CD/ DVD,(which i am torrenting at the moment), making you have to physically put it together in your multitrack editor?

I love how The Slip has musical elements from all NIN eras.
PHM - Discipline, Echoplex (synth-drums, awesome beats)
Broken - Letting You, 999,999 (fast-paced, almost metal, 999,999 is similar to Pinion)
TDS - Letting You, 1,000,000 (moody, 1,000,000 has great drums like March Of The Pigs)
The Fragile - 999,999, Lights In The Sky (ambient, moody, lots of paino)
WT - Echoplex, Head Down (radio-friendly, the chorus in Head Down)
YZ - Echoplex, Demon Seed (more awesome beats, heavy synth)
Ghosts - Corona Radiata, The Four Of Us Are Dying (experimental, catchy in an odd way)

When I attempted to download the Mp3 version of "The Slip" (several times) it shows the file as being empty. Can anyone help me out here?

10/14/08 7:31 AM

if i was to take four thousand copies of this album on a USB, throw them off a cliff, run home, tell my mum about what a great day my little sister had at the park. then, straight after this i was to pump Pretty Hate Machine 18 times and then sleep till the end of the next century... how many copies would be left at the bottom of the cliff the next day?the finger smiley

None. Someone will find it and he'll give them to all of his friends. And then they'll give them to all of their friends. And so on, and so on, and so on.

Either that, or it'll become a lost relic. An ancient piece of orgasmic history.
