28 Ghosts IV

Japan, an old tired man living his ordinary life, and some kind of magic floating in the air...

2 Ghosts I just haunts me. There's such odd thing about that track. It makes me feel happy & sad.

Almost like being happy about something sad.

Like death. The song feels like you're dying & as sad as it is that you're leaving all you loved behind, you're happy because you're going to the next step.

Ghosts 13 is still my favourite track. It was when I first heard it, and it still is.

It makes me cry every time I hear it... In the second half of the song, the sounds in the background remind me of when my grandfather was dying in the hospital, and we were sitting in the room with him for so long, listening to him taking his last breaths.

It's strange though, because each time I listen to it, it still reminds me of my grandfather's death, but I feel less sad. I think in some way, the song is giving me some closure (even though it's been 4 years) and it's become very soothing to me, and is helping me heal...

19 Ghosts III... I haven't heard the whole album yet, but I have feeling this will be my favourite track.

Sounds better LIVE though. smiling smiley

UPDATE: 28 Ghosts IV is starting to really grow on me...

15 Ghosts II... reminds me of a room full of staircases (like in hauting ground) with some strange people waiting in front of a great black door to get lobotomized...

I also enjoy 19 Ghosts III a lot.. the beginning makes me think of a man beating on Trent's bones...

And then 12 Ghosts II , just epic.

Track number and volume number each volume has 9 tracks The Volume number is in Roman Numerals

Ghosts Vol I
1-9
Ghosts Vol II
10-18
Ghosts Vol III
19-27
Ghosts Vol IV
28-36

So this post is not off topic 30 Ghosts IV really gets me right now I can’t say why though, it is like trying to remember a dream and every time you think you have caught the memory it slips away from you leaving you with just a vague feeling of déjà vu

Agreed. I find it very sexy/powerful.

There is something about I Ghosts 1 that is so deep, so tragic, so... Naaah, I can't put it into words. All of it is beyond words.

09/20/08 4:38 PM

18 and 34 grab me by the balls and don't let go. I haven't forgot about 12, that sexy little minx.

I agree with these a lot.

I also like 17 and 36. 17 really does it for me, I think. It's probably my most favorite among these favorites.

For 17, I like how it slowly builds up with the certain sounds. It makes me think that there's a billion glass bottles covering all over the landscape in need rows, evenly spaced out. And the bottles are all emitting the sounds you here in the song. It's almost as if the song has a landscape it's natural too but yet has an additinal paranormal element to it that makes it into a magic piece of art. It's really something else.

For 36, kind of the concluding thoughts. Like, the song knows you've listened to the other 35 and now will end it for you. Awhile back, I didn't really like how it ended; but I guess I was expecting more and didn't really take in the simplicity of it and just cherish how well thought out it is.

Oh boy, that changes every week O_O
I've been in love with most of them... Right now I really love 12 ghosts II, it just really calms me down. It laways makes me think of big car trips in the middle of nowhere with no destination... which is something I'd love to do.

EDIT - ups I didn't realise someone had already explained... never the less, go ahead and read my explanation too, it's far more complicated then the other one.

The album is sorted in four parts, from I to IV, which are roman numbers from 1 to 4, in case you don't know. Throughout the whole Ghosts CD the number of the song always goes up from 1 to 36 (regardless of the part the song is on). Each part has about 10 songs in it. in front of each song number you have the number of the one it is sorted in. So for example 12 ghosts II is on the second part, and the 31 ghosts IV is on the forth.

If that doesn't make sense... Good luck

The entire album is so damn inspiring to me, though 29 Ghosts IV is probably my favorite track.

My iTunes borked the naming of every track so I gotta go through and add the numbers. I have others that I like but I'm too lazy to go through and find them and recount.

On top of the ones I previously mentioned in this thread, 31 Ghosts IV has been growing on me lately. It seems as the days go by I love Ghosts even more. It really is a fantastic album.

I'm loving Ghosts 19 at the moment, especially after hearing a live version. That bass is fucking sick.

30 Ghosts IV

The first time I heard it I was in a weird state of mind (almost feeling completely empty and bleak). The song brought up and conjured up so many things about my life and shit. I ain't making this up. It was very surreal.

Needless to say, I always think about it everytime I listen to it. I think it's an absolutely amazing track both artisically and on a personal level.

09/25/08 2:02 PM

1 Ghosts I for me. The whole tone of the song is just so melancholic. Every time I listen to it memories of my deceased grandpa come, and I think about how I never really treated him the way I should have even though he loved me, and he died before I got the chance to show him how much he really meant to me. So, that song has a very special place in my heart over the rest.
