so i really enjoyed this project, so maybe, just maybe, you might see some kind of album from me along the lines of instrumental work like this. no promises though =P
And if I enjoy your phantom enough maybe I'll ask you to collab on a song or two heh.

lol this project is what spawned my whole Salt Water Sins project. so from the time i heard about this until now I have 124 tracks, ranging in styles, but for the most part keeping that Ghosts/NIN feel.

most are very Ghosts like, but the last few collections of music have been more song oriented.

Looking back, I could have worked a little bit harder on this. Everyone did an amazing job, I still jumped every time I heard my songs and got even more excited that I close Phantom III. Also being 41 Phantom. I'm proud that I made it.

Also

What happened to the picture we submitted with each track? Should they be attached the track like an itunes kind of thing or did I miss out on something?

i thought they were gonna be linked to each song in the download packs. please release the images as lossless PNG files for quality, rather than PDF's.

my computer hates PDF, i think it's a lame format altogether anyway. the raw images tagged to their corresponding mp3 would be perfect smiling smiley

Having listened to them all, I have to say that I really like the later experimental stuff. 36 Phantom (by unknown entity) and 38 Phantom (by Vekvetin) are two of favourites.

i'm already making something like a continuation of this but with actual guitar and maybe bass...
i made the first track, im calling it "instant audio stew" (inspired my Meat Beat Manifesto's "prime audio soup" title... not the song so much tho tongue sticking out smiley )

everyone goes back and says they could've worked harder, but wasn't one of the guidelines "no overthinking"?

i think every single song is great, everyone did great work on this.

re-listening to 1 and 2.

Definitely one of my favorites (alongside my faves in 3) is 18/Cadair8. Totally cool.
What I'm actually working on is putting together a showcase to do some responses within the collective project ideal. Thinking of having a playlist organized, then write some narrative responses, and do a few compositions as well in reflection. (not remix)

oh yeah, must comment on 19

this woke me up after I started a play from the beginning when I crashed last night. the only previous listen to it was during my first play the day 1 was released with the player, guess I had forgotten about it.... Permanently deleting it from my phantoms playlist, unless the creator would like to provide me with source files---I would like to do a derivative that you can listen to with the rest of the playlist. Nothing against the design of the piece itself, I'm not disputing the fact that it could be used as a soundtrack to something extremely disconcerting like out of Lynch or Cronenberg. I think the way it assaults the listener is just a tiny bit out of place from the rest of the project. I'm still a little torn on it because I respect the art and the process. The piece reminds of trying to listen to the whole Fixed halo, and also one of the "extra" tracks from the top end ghosts package (37 if I'm not mistaken) which assaults you for small segments at a time then goes back to a wandering soundscape. Many artists in other mediums totally seek the goal to shock the viewer literally so this is why I'm torn. We're very set in the idea that musical art should be pleasurable no matter what.

Gotten through a 2nd dedicated & focused listen on vol 3 as well. Major props to everyone. Really really digging 35 & 44 by strikezero.

I'm really glad you guys seem to like what I did so much =) This was my first time putting something together like this. I mean hell I drum, and suckily at best, and it just feels so good to know that you enjoy what I did. So guys THANKS =D

And unknown_entity I would be honored if you wrote a narrative to my track.

curious question, on the artist for these two, 35 and 44, does it say strikezero or Salt Water Sins?

on mine it says Salt Water Sins, which is the name under which I create my music, but my user name on here is strikezero...just curious

04/24/09 5:03 AM

yeah it does say Salt Water Sins.
Mine are labeled by forum name but my project name is ecnetsixe

Man - that's really okay! I just wanted to create a song that ...really stood out. While producing that song I was in a quite difficult situation and honestly...this song helped me to get out of that situation...but I can give you the multitracks anyway... Art has to be alive... and if you want to create your own remix - that's really okay! I think...doing something like this will give one the opportunity to view things from a different point of view.

I will upload the multitracks soon.. Is an zipped Audacity-Project okay for you?

By the way: I created an about 70 minutes long instrumental project quite similar to Ghosts or the Phantom Project. [atticdoor.kilu.de]

oh christ, are you serious? gone almost all day and no posts?

04/24/09 10:40 PM

Heh. I didn't wanna say this, but at this time I need to ask for some patience. 10 weeks of stuff is alot to process... literally. I'm doing my best to make sure a final project gets to you the way it should be given. with proper track numbers, production etc. Working as fast as possible, and will have IV up asap.

Thanks for your patience.

We know it takes alot of time, we are just teasing you man. I appriciate all that you are doing! spinning smiley sticking its tongue out
Hm I still need to download part 3... I fail..
See this is where working on your own material messes you up, you stop caring about everything else around you that you want to do.

I have epic failed!
So as I mentioned a few posts earlier I decided because of this project to make my own album. So i decided to also include a redone version of one of my phantom submission, 37 Phantom III. And of course I change one thing and it sounds much more phantastical(the finger smiley I couldn't resist) than the version i submitted for this. I need to remember in the future, always check all my options.

And I just downloaded volume 3 (wow I just realized I wrote 2 >_<winking smiley and listened to it all the way through. I really like it. No stand out tracks yet, but its as good as the first two volumes. Keep 'em coming,

Ahh yes, the crazy breathing one...it's basically the songs "beat" right?

I think it needs a Chris Cunningham video to go with it haha

04/25/09 4:51 PM

I'm waiting until all volumes are released to download, so I can put them all in one folder right away, I'm digging basically everything I've heard. Nice shit guys and/or/including ladies.

04/25/09 5:53 PM

I am in love with 24 Phantom III. I just thought you should all know that =)
Mostly because it reminds me so much of The X Files Theme in some places and that is my favoritest show on TV. Thank you adamzwakk for providing something this amazing. I love you. =P

04/25/09 7:55 PM

i love everything on this projectsmiling smiley

04/26/09 12:21 AM

yeah i dig all i've heard so far. i'm just streaming it off the site for now, will download the whole package when it's ready, art and all smiling smiley

04/26/09 1:03 PM

Hmm =/ I listened through, like REALLY listened to volume 3 and I'm not liking it as much as I thought I did. Volumes 1 and 2 are better.
It just doesn't impress me as much as one and two did. Of course there are stand out tracks but I guess I just want something more. So bigger doesn't always mean better ha.
I hope it just ends up growing on me...
