My thoughts while listening to the rest of IV:
Very wandering and experimental choices fill 59-66, I appreciate these.
63 & 65 moments with the piano/guitar stand out against the rest of the whole phantom playlist so far. thanks Geist/mka12992. no overthinking, pieces very deliberately crafted in the moment, not through force. loved hearing the artist speak at the end of 63.
I like how SWS's great "deep" sound sits between these two and sort of amplifies the impact of all 3.
60 & 66 have very interesting sounds that pulled me right in from the beginning. johnny ripper/musicbrain.
Really superb song design heard in 67-somewhat82. really neat growth from the piano instrumentation, to the funky center, then leads you out in a totally different direction. just great production work. Very cool to hear this leading into my piece, 68
Here is my production note for 68---a piece I made after recording a single improvised sketch (the intro before the piano comes in) in one take. I then crafted the piece in a single session of improvisation and sequencing of the piano voice. During the part between the intro and reprise you're actually hearing two separate improvision takes which were recorded before any piano part was designed)
69, a weird and delightful piece by mgexiled transitions us to the very enjoyable atmospheric sounds of 70 by Broken_Drum, and these carry us to my next piece.
71 was created in the same fashion as 68, and actually came first of the two. The intro is one improvised sketch. Then the center is two layers, one main take and then a second go where I recorded harmony notes. It is the same synth setup as in the other piece.
72. Ethereal voices that swim about my ears close out the volume in true phantom motif. seasons in the sky. I really enjoyed the sound of the notes floating away as it comes to a stop.
Judging by the sheer volume of the 3 and 4 portions, I believe Rezon8 may have had the plan from the beginning to be selective, then changed that stance after the project received the massive amount of submissions that he perhaps was not expecting in such quantities. I don't know- all 5 of the pieces I chose to present are in the final playlists.
Now having listened to this work in its entirety I wanted to express my thanks to every contributor for making this a truly awesome project in which to take part. The way all the work is presented together is truly stellar, rezon8 did a very great thing in his choice of ordering and grouping of the work. The sum is much greater than its parts. Even if I have not had a specific comment for your piece know that I appreciate you. I am going to be doing a response piece which includes a more cohesive commentary alongside a playlist of my favorites in the project, and it will also include new compositions and photos of mine
