Capital G single on CD doesn´t exist.. It´s not even a halo.

Is this ( [tinyurl.com] ) really special edition? Iguess that´s the normal vinyl, huh?

It exists as a promo CD. But it was never commercially released in CD format.

Just a few shots of the collection on the walls around my home, mostly in my bedroom.

This is a picture of "SIN" still sealed in plastic with it's original $4.99 Price Tag from a place called "Positively 4th Street.
Also, a custom "Scene Missing" wall clock I found on E-Bay.
And a bootleg copy of "The Downward Spiral" on Orange Vinyl.

nice room .....

01/30/11 10:51 AM

Thank you. It's kind of like a NIN Museum. Nice to look at, but DON'T TOUCH!

Next to the Downward Spiral poster, is my computer desk with 2 tower speakers baring NIN stickers and each one has a different hat on it. (See my post on page 46 of "NIN Collection"winking smiley One of the hats (Further Down The Spiral) recently sold on E-Bay for $150. I found these 2 for $7 for the pair in mint condition. My original "Further Down the Spiral" hat, I wore out, not ever knowing it would have been worth so much in 10 years. I was lucky to replace it for much less than my original hat ($25 in Mansfield, MA in '96) Then there's the collection of T-Shirts I have in the closet. It's crazy to see a T-Shirt worth so much. Then there are the ones I have that you just don't see. The CD's, the Cassettes...when I first bought all this stuff, it was just because I liked the band and the music and the clothing was cool. Now, I collect it to ensure it stays in great shape for whenever I decide to either sell it or pass it down in the family to someone worthy of having it and maintaining it. T-shirt frames are relatively expensive at $50 a piece. Although I one day hope to purchase some for my more expensive ones, like "Broken", "Fixed", my 2 "Now I'm Nothing" shirts, "Sin", and "ninety-nine" shirts.

I just don't collect NIN though. I also have "Alice In Chains" "Black gives way to blue" and "Jar of Flies/Sap" double album and my favorite, an original 1st pressing of Beastie Boys "License to Ill" vinyl I bought in 1985 at Zayres, which was once like today's Wal-Marts and Targets. I was 9 years old and in the 4th grade. Apparently I had good taste back then too.

Cool collection man.

02/05/11 8:35 PM

Thanks! It's coming along and of course, you never stop collecting. It builds up quick and from what I've seen so far, it's doubled in value in a short amount of time.

You can see the rest of the collection under "Your NIN Collection" on page 48. Page 46 has everything typed out (before I scored the Digital Camera) so you can see exactly what copies I have and from where.

There's also a shot of my T-Shirt collection and a few other albums I have.

FINALLY!!!! It appears that I have FINALLY finished collecting the Halos in 12" vinyl format. I just won an auction on "The Fragile", the only one that appears to be missing from my collection. It took me 11 months to get them. I didn't get ALL the versions I wanted (For example, I settled on the American version of "The Fragile", but REALLY wanted the UK promo version), but I took what I could get and they all look mint, especially framed and hanging on the wall.
I can't wait until "The Fragile gets here!!!

Just listed a Broken UK import with mini vinyl in the trade area. Thought the vinyl addicts would want to know.

I own The Downward Spiral re-issue double vinyl album.

Has anyone seen this? Is this a test pressing? If so, why is it packed in a printed sleeve?

^^^
Have you given that thing a spin?

06/30/11 11:37 AM

I have to admit, I'm very reluctant to play certain albums if they're in excellent condition, like my TDS PJ Harvey misprint or even this album. However, you DO have to make sure that what you're buying is legitimate, and when I saw this, I had to to try it to be sure it was the real thing.

To answer your question, yes, all the songs are there, and it actually sounds perfect.

What are your thoughts on this? Did they run out of stickers to put on the vinyl record? Is it a test pressing? The corners aren't cut, like on my other copy, so it's not a promo. What is it?

07/11/11 8:00 AM

so: quick question for those who have it.

how would you honestly rate the listening experience of the fragile on vinyl?

the lack of some of the better crossfades (wretched/witt -- wtf?) has me wondering if its as good as the CD.

for backstory: may be getting a nice record player setup for my bday and am considering this as one of my vinyl purchases, just wondering what people's thoughts are.

07/11/11 10:38 AM

lance_fox,
do you dislike the lack of crossfades? i would be happy to listen each and every song on it without crossfades, especially Somewhat damaged/The day...

07/11/11 11:03 AM

I like it enough to own both the American and European versions. Cross fades don't bother me, neither do the lack of cross fades. As a DJ, it makes it easier to mix songs without the interruption of another song fading in.
Now if you were complaining about the RED VINYL "The Fragile" Bootleg, then yes, poor sound quality would be an issue for me on something I might have spent $80-$120 on...which is why I didn't buy it. You can't compare it to CD quality, since CD's offer a totally different experience as far as clarity and cross fades are concerned.

what are the differences between the american and euro version? hadn't heard of this.

I just felt like those crossfades really tied the album together as a whole.

do you find the album more enjoyable as a vinyl or cd?

07/11/11 12:55 PM

Also...no responses on my mystery "Halo 3"?

Just curious, but do most test pressings look like this? It's the only explanation I can think of. Why else would it be hand written? The music is exactly what's written on the sleeve, it's just the middle sticker is hand-written.

Thanks guys for any and all help with this one.

The European version has the "Nothing" Sleeves otherwise, the same thing.
The CD would be more enjoyable just because of quality, but overall my heart belongs to vinyl. There's no sound like it. The natural sound of vinyl is nothing cassettes or CD's can offer.

that may be someone damaged a 22 year old label and replaced it with their own paper and sharpie label. similar to jerks hand numbering the unnumbered MOTP records...

07/11/11 4:54 PM

You know, I'd agree with you on this except for one thing...there is absolutely no sign of damage to either the album itself or the sleeve. In fact, the album doesn't even looked played, except for when I tested it to ensure it really WAS Halo 3 and that the songs coincide with the sleeve and in the right order. (which it was.) So how DOES one damage the label without damaging the sleeve or album? They don't. I think there might be something more to this. Maybe not a super rare, extraordinary, artist labeled pressing, but maybe this particular record has a story to it. Maybe it IS just a test-pressing...one of the last ones that got a printed, finished sleeve? Who knows? I know I'd LOVE to find out! ...but from who?
