Its a Duster

Ugh. Words cannot describe how much I hate this idea. I would be ok with a remake if, AND ONLY IF, they were going to give it the Sin City/Spirit treatment and make it completely faithful to the comic. Which they won't. I can't believe they would do this! I mean, the last horribly shitty sequel went straight to DVD. What are they thinking?!?

Somehow I never saw the original but the info in your link makes it sound very interesting. I'm definitely going to find it and check it out.

12/15/08 11:48 PM

They can't do this, on a personal level, I see and believe the movie to be a memorial to Brandon Lee. Doing a remake would be like trying to over shadow the orignal.

In my eyes it's disrespectful.

12/16/08 2:51 AM

Someone should shoot the guy who had this idea in the head.. The original is fine the way it is and should be left alone..

12/16/08 4:37 AM

I find it all in poor taste, though I do agree, the only way it would possibly be alright in my mind is if they went completely faithful to the comic, otherwise the people playing the characters would just have to play them totally different, and then it just wouldn't really work I don't think. You take a movie like this that has a huge cult following, and you try to remake it, it just never works. Those of us that are fans of it and have watched it have those characters set in our minds. You insert new actors it just fucks it all over. I just don't think they've given it nearly enough time, and I just overall think it's a bad idea, and also agree that it's kind of disrespectful. They haven't been able to pull off a sequel that was worth a crap, I'm unsure how they think remaking the original is a good idea. This is one of my favorite movies, it opened my eyes to a lot of new music and other things when I was 14, and I just don't see why it needs to be remade in the first place.

I mean, what the hell, this isn't fucking Batman.

Same here. I was like, seven or eight when I first was the movie, and I am proud to say, it was the only movie that made me cry. It even got me into a lot of the music I listen to today and was an influenced in my life. So it's safe to say, its sacred to me.

Heh, some people had Batman and Superman. I had the goddamn Crow.

12/16/08 12:42 PM

^yep. The teens and youngsters of the generation that has claimed the new Bat movies as its' "generation defining" movies are in some way like the twenty somethings (like me) that claimed "The Crow" as their generation definer back in the mid '90's.

It's sacred. Leave it alone, Hollywood! The only man who could possibly do it justice is Aronofsky, maybe in 20 years time. Until then, fuck this movie!

12/16/08 1:04 PM

Couldn't of said it better myself...

12/16/08 2:35 PM

Ugh. When will Hollywood learn that 99% of the time it remakes something it fucks it up and ends up ruining the integrity of the original.

12/16/08 3:51 PM

As if the horrible sequels weren't enough to disrespect the movie, now this! The Crow is perfect as it is and no fuckin' "reboot" is going to improve it or top it or whatever. Money grabbing bullshit is what this really is.

12/16/08 5:59 PM

^Pretty much. I see it for what it's worth: Greedy studio executives see how amazing Twilight has done and think:
"hey, we can cash in on the growing sub-culture love of gothic material like vampires and ghosts. Let's do a Crow remake so we can get tween girls into the theaters and compete with the studio distributing Twilight!!

12/16/08 6:37 PM

Basically. They don't care about anything but the money, even if it means pissing on someone's grave.

If anything, they should throw out the remake and put out a super-fucking-duper-edition of the original on blu-ray or dvd. That way, they won't screw it up for everyone that holds the movie sacred.

12/16/08 7:52 PM

^^Agreed.
Anyhow, isn't that movie cursed?

12/16/08 9:14 PM

For the love of God, NO!!!

Anyway, my thoughts: Oh well. I liked the first one but it's not sacred to me. If they want to remake it, fair play. I doubt I'd see it, but I can ignore it easily enough.

I agree with Worlock here.

I honestly don't see this as overly defining the Industrial genre very much. Genre defining would be something like Throbbing Gristle or Einstürzende Neubauten. This is not the debate however.

If the people rebooting this own the rights, then it is theirs to with how they will. It could be crap or it could be good, either way it wont change they way I view the original movie in the least.

To each his own however.

I believe the story goes that it's cursed because of what happened to Brandon Lee, don't really know how one bad accident equals a curse

Of course Lee died in the filming of the first. Then one of the crew died during filming of the second, so of course the franchise is cursed.

12/17/08 12:08 PM

why do hollywood exec's always think its a good idea to "revive (for lack of a better word)" movies as opposed to creating something original with respectable merit???

12/17/08 1:01 PM

Because they are assholes that like to shit all over everything? Other than that, I have no clue besides they are greedy.

The Crow was a type of an unofficial tribute to Brandon Lee.
You can't remake a tribute. And if those greedy bastards do it it will be like pissing all over his grave. So for the sanity of non-brainwashed "normal" people don't release a remake of a great film that can't be done over. Twilight was the start. The next decade will be "waa-I-don't-want-to-live" music. lock and load.winking smiley

NO, JUST NO.
Leave "The Crow" alone! sad smiley

AND Twilight it's the worst thing that has ever been made. It's pure poison.
