it's about time.

you want David Fincher? it's got it.

you want Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross? it's got em.

i've been excited about this film and was going to post something on it but i wasn't sure if it was going to be worth it. i'm a die hard Fincher fan but i was starting to get the impression that Fincher's best work was behind him and he was trading in the darkness in his movies for the more accessible Oscar pics..etc.

but, when Trenticuss confirmed the movie is good and dark and he's doing the score..i'm very excited once again.

I never really gave a shit about facebook, so I'll probably pass on the movie. I might check out the soundtrack, though.

07/01/10 11:20 PM

wow, it's weird because a few of my NIN friends are saying the same thing.

their hate for facebook may be more than their love for Trent i guess

i don't think you need to be a facebook fan to like this film.
people on imdb who have read the script have been claiming it's a dark, gritty film.

hmm. i dont know what this movie is about-- but, to me it sounds like ^Not giving a shit^ is the point. I doubt this movie is a facebook advertisement. Its probably a whole lot deeper than what you may think :-?

So...at first glance the movie seems like a giant ad for facebook, but really it's a tale of the shitty things the creator of FB did...so it's actually more of an anti-FB movie. Did I get that right?

I like a lot of Fincher's films, and I'm excited to hear new work from Trent & Atticus (the Tetsuo song was awesome), so I'll prolly check this film out.

07/01/10 10:56 PM

Yes!!! Someone kill me now! im so fucking excited about this! TR is incorporating his art into another movie (allegedly). Thank GOD!!! Now I have something to look forward to in this life HA! :-) It sounds good so far!smiling bouncing smiley

I must say, I'm on the fence with this one...being a major Film Buff, I do enjoy Fincher as a director, I think he's got an original style that is his own and visually, his films are fantastic.
BUT!!! Honestly I think he has fallen off since Fight Club...I don't mean to hate or anything and I hope I'm not the only one here, but Panic Room was honestly the dumbest film I've wasted my time on and I tried to give it a few more screenings and still just a stupid premise. Then came Zodiac, which in my opinion is shot extremely well and very true to the book and period, but the film didn't go anywhere, it had great moments, but it was just plain and boring...it's one of those films I put in the DVD player when I want to fall asleep to something. Benjamin Button was another okay film, but still wasn't anything to keep my eyelids from getting heavy, it was too long and a tad tacky. So from this, I will comment on this new film Social Network, I think, like usual Fincher flicks, this "could" be interesting, cause Fincher is great at tension builders, but hopefully this will have a complete story and not drag on like his previous films mentioned. I honestly don't get the aspect of this film being "Dark," as Trent put it, cause it's about some nerd online building a site. But, I will definitely be more interested in the soundtrack than the film, that is the bigger news for me. I think I'll wait for the DVD for the movie, cause usually people always love Fincher films and I go in with good expectations and come out with disappointment...I hope I'm wrong though

Oh yeah, add me to the Facebook hate, FUCK THAT STUPID SHIT and TWITTER!!!!

i love facebook. but i really hate myspace & twitter.

07/02/10 12:41 PM

i've never been been interested in any form of social networking, be it facebook, twitter, world of warcraft

still im very interested to see if there was something solid that draw Fincher and Trent into this project

07/02/10 2:07 PM

I love the director and the composers [well, the latter's a given], but the movie seems kinda...eh. Not to mention it stars that Michael Cera wannabe Jesse Eisenberg and Justin Timberlake. I'll have more to comment when I can see a trailer of what the actual film contains and not just a teaser. At this point it could go either way.

07/02/10 8:28 PM

michael cera wannabe?
because he kinda looks like him?

anyway..i agree somewhat with Gonzo about Fincher (weird sentence)

Seven and Fight Club were just too damn good...he peaked so early

and i didn't get the "oh, wowness" that most people apparently got with Benjamin Button

i did really like Panic Room ...although the "bad guys" in it..i felt were too stupid and incompetent to really...fear.
they showed their motives way too early on..etc.
i did like the cinematography..very similar to the Only video
creating intensity with the camera and not actual action.

and on another note..i've already a few people complain about justin timberlake
grow the fuck up...have you seen him act? he's damn good

I say Michael Cera wannabe, because he plays the same roles Michael Cera does. I wouldn't be surprised if Jesse Eisenberg was a hopeless virgin at the beginning of this film. As for Justin Timberlake, I dunno about a great actor, but at least I can say he knows what movies to play in. Alpha Dog and Black Snake Moan were both pretty good movies. I wasn't trashing this movie, I just have my doubts. Just because David Fincher is the director of this film doesn't mean it's automatically going to be good. I like a lot of Robert Rodriguez films, i.e. From Dusk Till Dawn & Planet Terror, but just because he directed those doesn't mean other movies that he's directed, i.e. Spy Kids franchise, are worth watching.

07/03/10 5:11 PM

Michael Cera wannabe. Lol.

Anyway, there are lots of things I could say here... but I am just going to say that I'm excited for the film, that's it.

07/03/10 7:32 PM

lol Jesse is better & funnier at being Michael Cera than Michael Cera

07/03/10 7:57 PM

yeah, although Michael Cera played a better zombie killer

07/05/10 6:16 AM

Facebook the Movie...oh boy...

07/05/10 10:16 AM

I'll rent it. Corporate drama intrigues me.

07/07/10 6:14 AM

I really don't care about facebook. Hell, even if TR & AR weren't involved I'd still see it. I'm a Fincher fan. He hasn't let me down yet. Oh and fuck you,Panic Room gets more shit than it deserves.

I posted this in the other NIN: Social Network thread, if you're interested to read the script here you go:

And as for the Justin Timberlake talk; honestly, I don't mind him taking up acting, cause there's nothing wrong with Musicians/Singers entering that field, since it's proven work out for quite a few, but I do find Timberlake to be more of a distraction. It's hard to look at him as an actor for some reason, I can't seem to watch him from a character standpoint, rather I see him as the N-Sync/Bubble Gum Mickey Mouse club guy. I mean, Alpha Dog was too much for me, to see overacting being done on all sides, but Timberlake covered in tats, smoking pot, and acting like a wigger was extremely irritating. Maybe it's that I didn't like the film, since it was poorly done, I always felt if the Director of Kids/Bully did it, it would be more real and true to the story and not a Hollywood mess. Black Snake Moan was the same with Timberlake, interesting flick, but Timberlake's performance was the same. As I said, in my opinion, he's too distracting to take him as a serious actor. I'm hoping I'm wrong and will enjoy this film. The new trailer looks decent, more for the Radiohead cover of "Creep," but definitely a Fincher film.

Saw the trailer last night, looks pretty intense, and since Reznor is involved I m =ight have to see it.

see i disagree about alpha dog
i was irritated with the characters but i feel i was supposed to.
i grew up around similar situations.
and everyone was fucking ANNOYING.

it captured the MTV generation perfect.
everyone trying to copy what they see on the tv as best as they can.
the story itself is about someone who idolized one of his friends so much to the point he was willing to kill an innocent kid for him.

and that happens all the time.
people die all the time because someone is trying to be cool.
simple as that

i think Justin Timberlake did a hell of a job acting in it too. the expressions on his face when you know he doesn't want to hurt this kid but he feels he has to.

07/19/10 10:04 PM

^This is getting off topic, but my problem with Alpha Dog was that I had been following the entire "Jesse James Hollywood" story from the get-go. I felt the film was literally a MTV produced flick, so it's funny how you mention MTV generation. Anyway, I didn't feel the story really worked well with the actual events that occurred, which is why I say if "Kids/Bully" director had done it, it would've been completely different. I do agree with the scene with Timberlake, but that doesn't mean he's a great actor...sorry, I'll have to disagree on this one, but I also hope I'm proven wrong.
On another note, the lead actor I think is a good choice, somebody mentioned how he's a Michael Cera ripoff, but from the trailer and the script and Zuckerberg himself, I think he fits the role perfectly. All in all, I don't care how the film pans out, I'm more curious for the soundtrack and how Trent and Atticus will approach a story like this, since it does seem a bit different from anything Trent has done before.

07/20/10 12:29 AM

ok, agree to disagree

yeah, anyone who says Zuckerberg is a Michael Cera ripoff is an idiot.
they're simply both young normal looking adults (which is weird for hollywood)that have been playing teens dealing with awkwardness
he was great in Adventureland

07/20/10 12:52 AM

pretty sure a Creep chorus was the best possible thing you could have chosen as the trailer music to a movie about social networking.

07/20/10 6:03 AM

Is it just me or does anyone else really like how in the trailer Justin Timberlake says "A million dollars isn't cool, you know what's cool? A billion dollars."
