Overall, I enjoyed it a great deal. I'm not sure it's the modern classic so many of the critics and cinephiles are proclaiming it to be- sympathizing with the main character's plight is tough when the movie gives you almost nothing about him to go on, for one.
Still, so much of it was great; the soundtrack (the song playing in the opening scene is as equally awesome as the onscreen action.) Gosling,as the mysterious Driver, delivers an effectively understated performance in what could have a nearly borderline boring character.
It's a very methodical and tense movie as well, which serves to punctuate the moments of speed and action all the more. And man, are those moments of action
punctuated. In the end, I found the climax to somewhat... Unsatisfying. But all in all, an enjoyablly minimalisitc flick. Keeping expectations down would likely increase your appreciation of Drive.
