Saw it last Friday, and it was the best movie I've seen in a while. My only complaint is that the resolution was kinda crappy. I think it's because it was shot on 16mm film. That aside, i highly recommend it.

This film is the bees knees.

Wes Anderson is definitely a unique film maker. This was his prettiest looking movie in my eyes. I loved the two love-birds, them dancing on the beach. Cracked me up. I also cracked up whenever any of the kids cussed. So delightfully amoral. Thought the story really escaladed when Harvey Keitel's face showed up. Fun action.

A really fun movie, but ... only from a distance. Honestly, when Bruce Willis and the two kids were up high at the end - the climax - I didn't care. I also thought the choppy trading of dialogue in the church - just before that - with "Social Services" was almost unbearably unnatural. It's a fun movie, but it didn't make me care about any of the characters. So I think that's a pretty big problem.

But ... it's hard to hate on Wes Anderson when he's so damned unique and original.
