If that show didn't have flashback scenes every 30 seconds it would fall apart. I stopped watching when it came back on the air. The South Park episode about it really hits the nail on the head.

I still like Family Guy. >.>

Indeed, the flashbacks are the basis of the show, it would be a COMPLETE Simpsons knock-off without them. Its great if you need a half-hour of ADHD retardedness.

thank god other people think Family Guy, and presumably its spawn, blows. granted, that was an easy way to make fun of them, but the show doesnt rely on those "funny" situations. It runs on 100% timing. And that burns out quickly.

It also happens to be the only show where their self awareness pisses me off.

I don't get the hate for Morel Orel. That's a funny fucking show.

10/20/09 10:39 AM

I don't "get" Metalocalypse. I always go to another station when that's on. Awful music, lame show.

10/20/09 12:59 PM

It's mostly a parody on whole death/metal scene and on hugely popular bands that are obsessed with themselves (*cough*metallica*cough*). It's a hit or miss for most people.

It's really the only show I can think of that has a dual fanbase. There's the metalheads who watch it because they truly love the violence and death metal, and there's the other group who are laughing at the show and the metalheads because they're ridiculous and just aren't in on the joke.

Morel Orel is fucking awesome. A lot of people didn't like how the third season went completely insane and dark, but it was completely necessary. Come on guys, Morel Orel was never really meant to be a comedy. It's only "funny" because Orel is young and naive and doesn't realize how horrible his parents and the people of his town are. The show never really changed, and none of the characters started doing anything they hadn't done before. Orel just grew up.

ME

Has anyone noticed that the British original The Office has been on Adult Swim?

I think they're about 5 episodes in of the 11(?) total in the series. Unlike the American version, it took 3 episodes for David to hurt my head versus the 1 it took for Michael. Its been quite enjoyable so far- really, the American one copied it a lot.

Thanks for the explanation, that actually makes a lot of sense.

Morel Orel was great. Loved the episode when new neighbors moved in and they said the lords prayer (I think it was) in a different order and they were kicked out of the house.

i think family guy has just gotten so retarded past the point where i want to watch it.

I was just on adultswim.com today and I just rediscovered the very short-lived show Young Person's Guide To History. Does anybody remember this one? It's a shame they only made like 2 or 3 episodes. I thought it was hysterical.

What a great show.

I had never known until then that Thomas Jefferson had written the declaration of independence by ripping it out of his own skin. pure awesome.

02/25/10 4:00 PM

I can spend hours and hours watching ATHF.

02/25/10 4:07 PM

I'm a Family Guy nerd and I love ATHF. I wish Super Jail would come back on more often because not only is it hilarious weird in a surrealistic manner but I think it has some of the best animation and art direction I've seen.

Moral Orel was a great show but its concepts in the story arc could have been done better and a little bit less predictable.

Metalocalypse is funny to those who know the metal scene as someone else pointed out. Its target audience is limited. I find it funny. (Such as the "we can only make great music while drunk!"winking smiley

I need to watch more of the Mighty Boosh.

Mighty Boosh sure is an acquired taste. Took me a while to "get it." Not really "haha funny" or subtly funny either...

02/25/10 4:46 PM

I think one of the reasons is because its this obscure British comedy most Americans are not used to...

I like a lot of British Comedy (Red Dwarf, Black Adder) but The Mighty Boosh just seems to be really, really weird. It's not that it's dry, like the British Office, it's just sort of...really offbeat. But I like it.

Sealab 2021, have seasons 3 and 4 coming in mail as I type this

^I find it hard to reconcile the fact that you enjoy both Family Guy and Fantastic Mr. Fox.

As for me, I love The Mighty Boosh, though hate that they edit it for time. Look Around You and The UK Office are also pretty enjoyable.

Aqua Teen Hunger Force and the earlier King of the Hill episodes are pretty great, with Robot Chicken bringing up the rear. Everything else I'm not too keen on.

03/01/10 6:17 PM

King of the Hill kind of grows on you. Wasn't sure if I liked it or not for the longest time.

03/01/10 11:02 PM

It took me a while to get into King of The Hill too.

Is it just me, or is the new season of ATHF really not that funny? Last season was hilarious, and now it seems like they've just run out of ideas. The only funny content I've seen so far is any scene Meatwad is ever in (like the montage at the end of the condom episode). They're really getting lazy with the other characters.

The new episode of Tim and Eric though, I thought that was brilliant. Flame away.

03/02/10 1:46 PM

I liked Xavier: The Renegade Angel. Fucking nuts lol

I'm actually getting that sense too. It's still pretty good, but nothing as great as the episode when shake got plastic surgery, or when "Willie Nelson" was living in the attic. Maybe they should quit while they're ahead.

Although the Hitler balloon episode was pretty good.

07/22/10 1:15 PM

Has anyone seen Rob Corddry's new show Children's Hospital?

Fucking hilarious.

07/22/10 3:50 PM

Family Guy has just become so bad, i like the first seasons but damn, the newest episodes are just awful, there's nothing funny, it's all about "oh look this is random", there's no plot, it's just we go from one thing to another just to add a couple of jokes we wrote in 5 minutes. Gee, the first seasons had some story to it, the jokes were well integrated in the episode, and it wasn't just constant random shit.

Harvey Birdman is for me one of the best shows ever, i consider it personally to be the best tv show ever along Twin Peaks and Arrested Development. It is that good. Every episode has so much in it, their parodies of Hanna Barbera cartoons are so well-written, the jokes also. You know, at first everything looks so random, but the more you watch it, the more you get the jokes, there's something so hilarious about noticing a minor detail you didn't catch before. And i mean, hello, Gary Cole, Stephen Colbert, Maurice LaMarche do voices in it. It's really sad that ended so abruptly.

Aqua Teen Hunger Force is good. Some episodes are really bad, some are great, especially Multiple Meats, when Meatwad leeps multiplying, that episode was excellent, i couldn't stop laughing. But yeah, it is better to watch when you're high.

Robot Chicken has become more a case of loud and annoying instead of well written comedy. It's always the same syndrome of abusing profanity and making it the more gore possible, where as the two first seasons were more about parody and jokes.

I don't get Tim & Eric and Metalocalypse, i really don't understand what's good about those shows.
