Naming a character after Trent

I'm a NIN fan since 1991 (though fan would be a great understatement). I have recently signed a book deal with Rhemalda Publishing for a fantasy novel due to release in August, 2011. The reason I bring it up here is because, in honor of my love of nails, I've named a character after Trent. I have a group of 4 killers in the story and I named one of them Rez in tribute to Trent. I just thought it would be cool to bring it up here for other nails fans and fans of fantasy novels in general. My book is called, "The Light of Epertase" and anyone who enjoys fantasy should check it out.

It is amazing how someone can inspire someone else and never realize it. Trent has inspired me in many ways and will likely never know. One of the ways he has done such is in the way he treats his fans. I'm not saying I am ever going to have fans or anything like that but if people read my novel and enjoy it, I'd take Trent's lead in how I behave. One of the ways I plan to do this is by free content. Though I'd pay whatever Trent asks for his music, I was amazed that he offered some of it up for free a couple of years ago. I was so excited to see his entire album as a free download and at the time vowed if I was ever in a position to do the same, I would follow his lead. As such, I have finished a short story from my fantasy world with plans of giving it away for free like Trent has done with his music. In fact, when I release that short story in March, I'll post it in the short story section of this forum for free as well. Maybe you guys will like it, maybe not, but it'll be free. I have eventual plans of doing this every so often in hopes of making readers of my stories feel as though they get their money's worth.

I'm not an author because I want to be rich(I have a great career as a firefighter/paramedic and am financially content), I'm an author because I want people to see my stories and enjoy them. Since there is a publisher involved, I have to try and sell the book but my publisher, Rhemalda, has already approved my plans of releasing free content. Heck, it's free publicity for them. They have been great to work with. In fact, they have agreed to print my short story in their free online newsletter on March 1st with no strings attached (again, I understand that they will benefit as well but they didn't try and squeeze any money out of it which, I wouldn't have given it to them if they had). They're even giving away a free kindle to one lucky subscriber which, hopefully, will allow me to give my stuff to more readers. I'm not here to spam so I'm not going to list the websites or anything, I just wanted to drop by and tell you what Trent means to me.
