...do you think is better, It or The Stand?

Talk amongst yourselves.

Oooh, tough one.

Original version of The Stand is better than It.
Uncut version of The Stand is not as good as It.

Sometimes there is a reason thing get cut out.

I refuse to compare them. They're on the same level for me. Both are fucking amazing.

IT. There were more rich characters, more things happened, it was more "holy shit I cannot put this down." And it was funny, by god, hilarious. I liked the structure of the story, the present-day arc, the 1950s arc, the interludes with Mike and his historical research. And even in terms of the cheesy, early 90s, made-for-TV movies, I think IT was better. The nightmares I had...

Steven King gives me nightmares....No really...

I prefer The Stand

It makes my head hurt to even try to decide.. I love them both. I've probably read It more times though..

The Stand is far superior. I read it when it was first released in paperback (probably before most of you were born) and waited anxiously for the upcoming movie advertised on the back cover which was supposed to be directed by George A. Romero (and had to wait another 20 freakin' years for the TV mini-series!).

Same here, with Different seasons it's the only books by King i've read more than once.

They're both great, but I enjoyed It a lot more. Just my personal preference.

IT, but not by far. I appriciated the characters more, felt more of an atachment to them whereas in The Stand there were very few I really cared about. I also thought the second half of The Stand wasn't as powerful as the first, the conclusion left something to be desired. That said, I like Flagg much more as a villain than the IT creature in all it's forms, Flagg was truly devious and frightening and left more of an impression.

Fav book is Bag of Bones....can't possibly compare The Stand with It though, they're just so different.

I have IT lying in my cupboard just waiting for me to read it and i haven't read the stand but i keep meaning to buy it. I've read a few of his other books, misery is the best one ive read so far. but once i've read what i'm reading now i'm gonna read IT.

I enjoyed them both. For me The Stand was scarier because something like that could happen.

The Stand, without question. It's my all-time favorite book.
