Let's not forget the famous, "I have seen the future of horror" quote which gave Clive Barker publicity and a big boost early in his career. He has also done a lot to help support small presses who typically give an early boost to up and coming writers. Your argument, in short, is all kinds of wrong, and you should shut the fuck up. I have several friends who like them, but they're all terribly embarrassed about it. I have, on the other hand, had people try to convince me that Dan Brown is an incredibly skilled writer. Not. So. Much. His books have a painful number of stylistic problems in them. They're acceptable when viewed as schlocky pulp adventure books, but no more. Oh, and Tolkien. I know, I know. He's a classic, founded modern fantasy, and all that but I've never been able to get into his books. They're too long winded and he takes them way too seriously. If that's the best you can do to back up your point, it's not very good...he doesn't like Meyers writing,...big deal! He's far from alone in that! And it in no way supports your argument that he's jealous. He'd be far more likely to feel 'threatened', as you put it, by J K Rowling, yet he praises her. your point, as I said above, is totally without merit. If you don't like his writing, that's fair enough. But to say he's jealous because he doesn't like a particular writer is absurd.

I appreciate that he is descriptive and i respect the man for sure but -and maybe it's just me- it's so hard to read. I love reading and can get through a book pretty fast but it took me a solid week to attempt to finish one of his stories. ughh
