I like some short stories by him I read in "M is for Magic" in English language. Can't remember the titles: The one with the fucked-up cat who has to fight in night with some shadowie, cruel character and always hat wounds in the morning. And the one with the troll living under the bridge waiting for the boy to come back. Both gave me shivers...

Loved it from the start, though Seasons of Myst postively delighted me with how ballsy it was. Nothing prepared me for The Kindly Ones, though; just blew me away. I still reel when i think about reading it for the first time.

bluenihil member dollar short Joined: 04/13/08 Posts: 740	Didn't realize this when i saw it in theatres, but i was just watching the Beowulf CG movie that came out a couple of years ago and noticed that Gaiman is co-credited as writer of the screenplay. I knew there was a reason i thought that movie was awesome.

I love this short. It is told from the Queen's side of the Snow White story and portrays the sweet SW Disney told us about as a ravenous, bloodsucking fiend. I love it. And I've always loved the Queen from SW, she scared the shit out of me as a child. I respect that. lol

I never actually read the novel for Stardust As each of the graphic novels for Stardust were released, I'd make my way to a comic store to pick up a copy. One of The most beautifully illustrated books is The Dream Hunters by Neal and Yoshitaka Amano. I did enjoy The Graveyard Book but am waiting on a paperback copy to purchase. Several years ago I managed to go to a Neil Gaiman book reading. At the time he talked a lot about the Comic Book Legal Defense Fund. He had horrifying stories to tell about artist not allowed to practice their craft and store owners being prohibited to sell.

To all of you that have read his stuff but not read "Good Omens" yet I can just say "GO GO GO" it is a very very funny book and it keeps his darkness but also gains Pratchett's silliness.

The Sandman is the best graphic novels I've ever read. Watchmen who?

I haven't read the Sandman comics yet but it's definitely on my list. My only complaint about him is that I wish he would write MORE.

But outside the comic book world, a lot of people still don't know who he is. No one in my immediate family and none of my friends have ever heard of him. He's not a household name, not like Harry Potter. Two years ago, I didn't know who he was either.
