Neil Gaiman was interviewed on the Colbert Report recently, and you can find it online at the ColbertNation.com web site Stephen took him to task for being a British author and winning an *American* book award for "The Graveyard Book" and he replied, "Well, when you Americans stop writing shit you can start winning it again"...or something like that...it was bleeped winking smiley

I read Coraline not too long ago, before the movie came out. I liked it, I'll have to get more of his books.

Currently reading "Neverwhere", in German language. Abstrus, funny, too.
I like some short stories by him I read in "M is for Magic" in English language. Can't remember the titles: The one with the fucked-up cat who has to fight in night with some shadowie, cruel character and always hat wounds in the morning. And the one with the troll living under the bridge waiting for the boy to come back. Both gave me shivers...

I love Neil Gaiman. I read his book Stardust. I saw the Coraline 3D movie too.
Everything he writes is like a fairy tale to me. Then I feel like a kid again.
He's a great writer. And he looks HOT for his age. Nice hair. winking smiley

Sandman is the most amazing graphic novel ever. Loved it from the start, though Seasons of Myst postively delighted me with how ballsy it was. Nothing prepared me for The Kindly Ones, though; just blew me away. I still reel when i think about reading it for the first time.

Oh, and i, for one, enjoyed the miniseries adaptation of Neverwhere.

I love Neil Gaiman. He's my favorite author. Everything he does is brilliant.

Didn't realize this when i saw it in theatres, but i was just watching the Beowulf CG movie that came out a couple of years ago and noticed that Gaiman is co-credited as writer of the screenplay. I knew there was a reason i thought that movie was awesome.

Favourite short story?

There is a short story that he did about Snow White, told in the perspective of the Queen. It was twisted, but really good.

It is called "Snow Glass Apples" and first appeared in Love In Vein II, an anthology edited by Poppy Z. Brite. Coincidentally, I just reread this story yesterday, for the first time in years...and this is the first time I've logged into nin.com in over a month, so it's weird to see discussion of this story here, now.

I love this short. It is told from the Queen's side of the Snow White story and portrays the sweet SW Disney told us about as a ravenous, bloodsucking fiend. I love it. And I've always loved the Queen from SW, she scared the shit out of me as a child. I respect that. lol

American Gods and Stardust are among my favorite works of his, although I really liked Coraline and The Graveyard Book as well.

I'm starting the Sandman comics next. smiling smiley

I began with Neverwhere and it remains my favorie. Then one winter I was consummed with the Sandman series. I never actually read the novel for Stardust As each of the graphic novels for Stardust were released, I'd make my way to a comic store to pick up a copy. One of The most beautifully illustrated books is The Dream Hunters by Neal and Yoshitaka Amano. I did enjoy The Graveyard Book but am waiting on a paperback copy to purchase. Several years ago I managed to go to a Neil Gaiman book reading. At the time he talked a lot about the Comic Book Legal Defense Fund. He had horrifying stories to tell about artist not allowed to practice their craft and store owners being prohibited to sell.

I love Neil Gaiman! I've read all of his work and, as funny as this may sound, my favorite of his work is what he did with Amanda Palmer for her solo album (Who Killed Amanda Palmer?). Good stuff

I love the things I have read by him, esp American Gods. To all of you that have read his stuff but not read "Good Omens" yet I can just say "GO GO GO" it is a very very funny book and it keeps his darkness but also gains Pratchett's silliness.

Neil Gaiman is my favorite author, I have read:

American Gods
Neverwhere (book and graphic novel)
Stardust
Coraline
Smoke and Mirrors
Good Omens
All Sandman books

Oh my, my sister decided to buy me book 7 of Sandman just cause the guy behind the counter said it was good...now a few years later he's my favorite author and I've read almost everything. The Sandman is the best graphic novels I've ever read. Watchmen who?

I adore Neil Gaiman. I've read Neverwhere, The Graveyard Book and Anansi boys and they were all awesome. Has anyone read the Sandman comics? Now THEY'RE good.

02/04/10 6:25 PM

Neil Gaiman rocks.
I've read all his novels, and Neverwhere remains my favorite, followed by American Gods.
I haven't read the Sandman comics yet but it's definitely on my list. My only complaint about him is that I wish he would write MORE.

02/04/10 10:06 PM

Reading Neverwhere now, on recommendation of my girlfriend. Not my type of book, but I'm digging his writing style.

Listening to American Gods on audio book. Truly addictive.

Gaiman is a great writer. He's written a lot of excellent books like Neverwhere and American Gods. But outside the comic book world, a lot of people still don't know who he is. No one in my immediate family and none of my friends have ever heard of him. He's not a household name, not like Harry Potter. Two years ago, I didn't know who he was either.
