Despite being well above average in terms of literacy and intellect, I've really not read enough throughout the years. I bought Chuck Palahniuk's Survivior and George Orwell's 1984 a few months ago, which I really ought to get stuck into.

I'll need to have a look through this thread when I've got the time for some recommendations on books.

An obscure book by an obscure writer but it's fantastic. It's a collection of short stories which deal with the different types of love but it's the most realistic thing I've ever read when it comes to love. Understandably it's quite sad and bleak.

08/02/11 10:21 AM

The Girl Who Played with Fire.

08/02/11 4:02 PM

I'm reading the Cthulhu Mythos. So excited...

Decided to put down A Dance with Dragons by George RR Martin for abit, not because it's not any good (it's brilliant) it's because it may take him another 6 years for him to write the sequelgrinning smiley

Currently reading Flashback by Dan Simmons. Bloody brilliant so far!

I'm readingCandide. I started reading it because I saw it under a list of banned books. Its interesting to me at least and kind of silly and stupid at times, but I want to see what happens in the end.

This book is fucking amazing! Funny thing is, I tried to get into American Gods and, I got bored. But this book has me enthralled! I'm almost finished with it. LOVE IT!

I don't know why I bother reading VC Andrews anymore. The ghost writer really is just scrapping for whatever they can get. They are no longer original but quite typical. I feel as though very little research goes into these books. Just whatever is learned on the internet or something. Alas, I keep waiting for them to get better, or for the writer to just give up. I think the last decent VC Andrew book was Rain.
