So, the criticism I have for FF XIII-2 is pretty much the same I had for FF XIII.
the story and
the battle.
They made well crafted, intricate, complicated stories worthy of the Final Fantasy name but presented them void of any real drama or any emotional shifts whatsoever, instead everything was annoyingly bright, everyone was annoyingly optimistic, the whole ride was
painfully sugar coated.
Also, they had a very original battle system that combined rpg, action and strategy gaming perfectly well but was not taken advantage of until very late in the game, resulting in 90% of the game being
seriously ridiculously easy.
THIS is not really the song that fits a sadden and tragic death scene. The one who chose this song should be shot, left to bleed to death and made to listen to the song in his final moments. No other punishment is anywhere near close enough.
It's like the creative team was aiming at one thing and then marketing told them, well, people in the west don't like tough games or emotionally complex stories...
