Wii U

Figure this might be a thread that lasts since this will be very speculative until its release.

What do you guys think Wii U will bring to the table in terms of gameplay that current gens don't have? Where does it fall in line with the rest of current technologies on the market today, both gaming dedicated and non-gaming dedicated platforms (like phones or PCs)?

I for one think it is a great way of combating threats from tablet based devices like the Ipad since it now is a home console PLUS a dedicated tablet device which will attract ipad and iphone developers. One of my bigger concerns however, is that it isn't immediately recognizable to the consumer as to what it's advantage it is. With the Wii concept and Box art you saw a hand with a wand *Immediately recognizable to the consumer how this could work. But with a giant pad as a controller I think the consumer may not instantly connect with the concept.

After seeing E3, I'm really not excited about this and I think Nintendo is done pretty much.

I find the tablet controller to be really gimmicky. It's as if they are trying to be immensely innovative but kinda not at the same time in a weird way.

Yes and no, it is gimmicky but not as much as the wii mote.

i think alot of people are forgetting that this already happened with the nintendo DS, i mean the split screen with the touch screen as a controller and it did work rather well

the way i see it its the same gameplay experience from this

Sony on the other hand already has the hardware but they are not taking advantage of it to make either remote play work or release games that use the vita effectively as a controller

To me this is Wii HD with a DS like controller.... Nintendo is in a downward spiral, they got lucky and the Wii became a cash cow, but it never held in an audience and didn't have enough A titles. Don't get me wrong I love every Mario game and Zeldas, but I really feel meh about this new system. Ports, a couple Nintendo exclusives every few months, repeat.

ZombiU hands-on: the Dark Souls of zombie games

Wii U was always going to get unwarranted flack among gamers for being a casual console. VG247?s Dave Cook plays the punishing ZombiU to find out why they’re dead wrong.

That is promising as hell but the problem is that although lots of folks in the US are happy with the 300 $ and 350 $ price tags, in europe it's hella expensive.

The US prices are actually lower than the yen - dollar exchange rate. Whereas the EU price tag is off the chain !

Black wiiu (according to the exchange rate) 30,000 yen = 380 $ = 290e.
But it is sold at 350$ and 350e respectively.
