It's one of the best survival horror game. Better than all, except maybe Silent Hill and Siren.

really, really good. The demo of DS2 was great also.

The only thing lacking is, i could totally see a TR soundtrack over it.

I play Dead Space now for the first time.

Things I don't like:

First of all it isn't scary at all especially compared to Doom 3.
Right now I'm somewhere near chapter 5-6 and all missions go with the same pattern - go to one part of the level where dead end is, get back at the beginning, go to other side of level - pick up something or push the button, then go to where dead end was, pick up something or push the button, return at the beginning. Well it's OK to me to go through the same level 2 times, but not 3-4.
The story isn't interesting enough (for me).

Things I like:

Being low on ammo, meds, air etc.
Item upgrade system.
Graphics, physics, sounds, overall design.

PS. Getting ready for Dead Space 2.

Bought it last week on Steam.

Its competent as a game, but it exaggerates the fear aspect if it. It doesnt scare. It startles you. And, for me at least, it doesnt even do that. It might be just that im not far enough in it (chapter 3).

If you want to actually play a game that scares you, try Amnesia: The Dark Decent. That is a game that will show you what fear is. Game actually makes me afraid to play it.

I picked up Dead Space 2 today. I hear it's much better than the first game. I thought the first game was pretty good, so I'm looking forward to this one.

I plan on this being my next game purchase. Loved the first one. Especially after watching Event Horizon. Your opinion?

got up to chapter 3 last night; loving it so far. the first one was my game of the year for '08, and the sequel has not been a disappointment.

the opening tutorial section is very cleverly done, and veterans of the original will appreciate the subtle tweaks the controls have undergone; streamlined inputs, swifter attack movements, improved ammo tracking ability.

i love that Isaac's experiences on the Ishimura have traumatized him to the point of hallucination; those moments are the creepiest parts of the game so far.

any fan of the original is going to love this. i have two suggestions, however.

the first is to go into the settings menu and change the aiming style from "center" to "classic"; the default leaves your laser sighting always in the middle of the screen, unaffected by distance. classic is like the first game, and has a way better feel to it.

the second is to drop the music volume down to zero. it's only there to let you know when there's trouble on the way, and you can always tell when it's safe again because the music fades out. it's basically telling you when to start feeling tense, and when you can relax. with no music, you never feel completely safe, because you aren't being signaled when something is about to happen.

I haven't had time to play it yet. I'm in doctoral school, and during mid terms, it's hell.

I hope to put in a few hours this weekend though... If I get to, I'll report back here.

Edit:

You get a special weapon for beating Dead Space 2 on hardcore...pretty funny.

check it: [www.youtube.com]

Edit #2: There's also 3 weapon/armor downloadable packs on Xbox Live and PSN. They've also announced 2 more campaign chapters that will be coming as downloadable content soon too, but I forgot the name of the pack. I think it's called Dead Space 2: Severed

Event Horizon was good, haha that's funny somebody else on the planet liked that movie too.

I have yet to try DS2 1player, but the online I did attempt today. It's .... so so. I expected a lot more, but I haven't exactly gotten the science of it down yet. I loved the first, so I expect to love the campaign once I get into it.

I am somewhat disappointed because I pre-ordered and picked up the Collector's Edition, which has a soundtrack, a replica of the plasma pistol, and some in-game content which isn't that appealing. My 'replica' plasma gun, which is about the size of my palm (expected much bigger) has a screw to replace the battery since it lights up, maybe? The screw is stripped. Made in China, I can't get over the fact that I wasted 20 dollars on a Collector's Edition that I thought was going to be really epic.

As i said, I am positive I will love the campaign, but I would have loved to save the extra cash had I known. Hindsight is 20/20.... I am looking forward to Deus Ex coming out in March now.

For any and all wondering on the first game though, I love Dead Space to the T. It was an insanely great game.

Hey NIN and Dead Space fans.

Want to see something that will blow your minds?

I don't have a scanner so I can't upload a pic... but if you have the original Dead Space art book, take a close look at page 16.

It has been there the whole time...and I only noticed it today.

A new map pack for Dead Space 2 multiplayer will be coming out. I'm probably in the slim majority that likes it.

If you haven't gotten Severed, do it. The DLC is excellent.

very scary game! very good to but incredibly gory. If you die bye some of the special monsters it will show you being ripped to pieces decapitated etc. but yes one hell of a ride. if you like the first i would also recommend the 2nd
