Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic (series)

The first game is one of my favorite games ever made. The second game was not quite as good, but was still a pretty solid RPG. I'm tempted to play the upcoming Star Wars: The Old Republic MMO just so I can play though the single player campaign (yea, the MMO is supposed to have a HUGE single player game that occasionally veers into the mmo part.)

the mmo thread is here. So far, it has no announced release date, but with luck, sometime in fall of 2010.

Bought the game for like, the fiftieth time on Steam. Still awesome. KOTOR 2 was buggy as hell and wasn't that good. Is that restoration project thing still going on?

KOTOR 1 probably has my favorite plot in all of videogames. KOTOR 2 was a fine game as well, but was just lesser in terms of story, the franchise's biggest selling point.

I played the Hell out of both of these fine games... and I liked KOTOR 2 better. The reasons is; I think the got the mechanics of the game down better in 2 and also expanded upon what they did with the first ones. More prestige classes, more feats, etc...

But still, awesome plotline, awesome RPG.

I might have to find my old disc and play it again sometime...but did beat 2 at least 6 times already.

Yea, this could potentially be one the coolest games to come out in years. I just hope the system requirements aren't ridiculous. I would love to play this game, but I really don't want to have to drop like $1000 to do so... 360 version please?

Oh, I loved KOTOR 2. The two are right beside each other, if I were to rank all the games I've played. I feel like that immediate sense of awe I felt upon learning the story cant be replicated, no matter how good a sequel is. Same deal for Morrowind/Oblivion.

^^ Well, remember, they're still working on the mod for KOTOR 2 that restores hours and hours of content that was cut from the final version of the game. Supposedly, the cut content will really flesh out the game and add loads of new stuff.

Here's the info:

Knights of the Old Republic 2, we feel, is a fantastic game. It's also undoubtedly a wounded game: a lonely game that knows it's incomplete as it is but just can't bear to admit it to itself. It's okay, KOTOR2. We're here for you. Shhhh. We're here.

If you're here, you probably know that KOTOR2 had a lot of cut content, including some very important scenes near the end. If you didn't know: KOTOR2 had a lot of cut content, including some very important scenes near the end.

We're adding back in as much of the cut content as is possible. We are dedicated to forming a coherent story out of these sound clips and occasionally-ambiguous action descriptions, so unfortunately, we cannot include every single cool thing that was cut. But, we will still have plenty of coolness, including:

* The long-lost HK Droid Factory! (not the same as the Droid Planet M4-78)
* Several ways to murder Visas!
* A whole new group of people who want to kill you!
* Multiple endings! (no, really, actual endings)
* Various ways to be responsible for the deaths of all your party members!

The project only has two builds remaining until it's ready for release. Hopefully, that will be early 2010.

I'm wondering why the Lucasarts doesnt get on this. They could have been sitting on some money, with people like me who are willing to force their friends to buy KOTOR 2 just to grab that mod.

The beta sign up for the MMO started yesterday. The damn web site won't let me finish registering though. It keeps booting me at the very end. I created an account on www.swtor.com about a month ago to get ready to sign up for the beta, and that account isn't working either. sucks. I haven't been able to register for the beta thus far, or create a new account.

And, KOTOR II has finally been "finished". To be clear, the mod team mostly just re-implemented game day and questions that were already on the game disc, but that lucasarts cut at the last minute to get the game out. Apparently, the restoration of that data adds a lot to the game's length and plot.

Fuck yes! Tonight is my night for finding good threads! I can't believe there is one for KOTOR; it's one of my favourite games of all time.

While KOTOR II added a lot of features which made gameplay more interesting, I liked the plot a lot less than that of the first one. It felt a lot more anticlimactic, but perhaps this is to be expected? After all, how can you top the incredible, mind-bending plot twist of KOTOR?!

While I know about the MMORPG, I have yet to hear any word about the mod for KOTOR II. That should be awesome! It would give me an excuse to play through the game once again.

What's your favourite way to play the game? Light vs. Dark side? Favourite class?
