^I guess I should consider myself lucky they didn't cancel Tucson, at least they rescheduled.

Last night I saw Sleepy Sun; a great Neo-Psychedelic band from San Francisco. They put on one hell of a show and never disappoint….it was only an hour set and yet I was totally satisfied.

09/25/10 9:14 AM

Porcupine Tree @ Radio City Music Hall - They played a blistering 2 and a half hour set. Starting off a "Self Help Group" set up, as Steven Wilson described it, for the first half hour. They all sat in a straight line playing a few acoustic songs. Acoustic guitars, stand up basses, and a very simple drum kit. The first batch of songs they played were all pre Stupid Dream with the exception of one. After finishing off the acoustic set, Steven Wilson shouted out "Thanks for the support, now stick around for the headlining band." After a 10 minute break, they came back with the full stage set up and continuously kicked our balls and cunts in with non stop rock euphoria. They played tasty jams from all their albums with the exception of "In Absentia". Perfect show at a great venue.

The Pixies - It was my first time seeing these guys and they put on one hell of a show. The entire set reminded me of how influential this band really is and they played a bunch of their hits and even b-sides. Awesome stage set-up with weird videos and lots of smoke. In the beginning, the Large crowd wasn't really getting to into it and I muttered "This is the worst audience I've ever seen...." Minutes later, people were jumping all around and getting more and more into it, which was nice to see, cause the Pixies deserve an audience like that. I know this'll sound stupid, since I just said Black Rebel Motorcycle Club was the best show I've seen this year, but seeing The Pixies was a long time coming and gave me an experience to remember.

Celibate Rifles, Grand Fatal on Friday night at Sandringham Hotel, Sydney. There was another band, Molten Universe, but unfortunately I arrived too late to see and hear them. sad smiley But the Rifles always put on a great show!!!!! Been following them for 30 years now, and got some really great photos. I've never before seen Grand Fatal but enjoyed them very much, even bought a couple of their EPs from the merch table. It was a fun gig all round, some of the audience members remembered me from years earlier!!! and I remembered them as well. It's like a class reunion!!

Roger Waters : The Wall

Great as expected

Placebo.

Saw them on Monday 27th September, and they were mental. It was like... When you go to see a band, you go to see the band and hear the music. Whereas with Placebo, you don't pay attention to them like, at all. You just sing your heart out and dance with your friends. For once, it wasn't about the fame, the lighting show or whether or not the drummer had his shirt off. It was one of the best atmosphere's I've ever been in. grinning smiley

Brixton Academy?

I was there last night (28th).

Awesome!!

it's been a good week for me. in the past 7 days, i've seen Slayer, Megadeth, & Anthrax (on the same night, the Jagermeister tour), Atari Teenage Riot, and The Pixies! all of them were great in their own right. since they are pretty different genres i don't feel i have to judge one against the other.

09/29/10 11:47 PM

I saw The Black Ryder and The Cult tonight. Both were amazing!!! Definitely the best show I've seen other than Serena-Maneesh and Black Rebel Motorcycle Club during SXSW.

Wow Lisa, looks like an amazing show!!!! A theatrical event as would be typical of Roger Waters.

Last night I saw SToNE again. It's been more than a month since I last saw them and I had been suffering severe SToNE withdrawal!!!! ;-) I feel a lot calmer now.

Definitely recommend seeing them if you can.

10/07/10 9:34 PM

I saw The Blood Arm last Saturday. They were amazing.

10/08/10 10:25 PM

the Gorillaz just KILLED IT at the Garden in NYC; for two hours, the likes of Mos Def, De La Soul, a classical string quintet, traditional middle eastern musicians, fucking LOU REED, gospel singers and a high school horn section, all took turns joining Damon Albarn, with Mick Jones & Paul Simonon of THE CLASH, as they backed up a cartoon band. THAT'S what i call a friday night.

also there was a prerecorded video intro by Snoop Dogg. dressed as a pirate. straight up, muthafuckas.

10/09/10 4:19 AM

SToNE!!! playing the Londonderry Hot Rod Show. Got some really really great pics and video today. Yep, their "stage" was the trailer of a huge truck!! smiling smiley

Just saw Zola Jesus do an instore performance. She was pretty good but it kinda sucked that the set was only 4 songs long. I actually met Kim Gordon and Thurston Moore from Sonic Youth. They were such nice people.

10/10/10 1:06 AM

Just got back from the blackdiamondskye concert (mastodon, deftones, alice in chains) with my sister. We arrived late and completely missed Mastodon. Deftones were fucking great. Chino is such a badass. AIC was good. The new singer is no Layne, but he definitely has talent.

10/10/10 1:42 AM

Just saw Warpaint & Sonic Youth. Best fucking concert I've been to this year. WOW they were soooo good.

haha. Yeah. I was just waiting for the Zola Jesus free instore performance to start and was looking around at records in the back of the store. And then I just see this ridiculously tall guy right at that section of the store and a little short blond lady I just tell my friend "Isn't that Thurston Moore and Kim Gordon?"...Thurston is pretty hard to miss since he is soooo tall. I just talked to him for a few minutes and literally had my head looking up because the guy is like more than a foot and a half taller than me. lol. I felt like an ant.

Haha, fuck yeah dude. I was there too. Too bad Lou Reed sucked a huge bag of dicks. Everything else about that show was simply amazing. I loved 19-2000, Stylo, and Empire Ants. Definitely hope they come back around again.

Lisa! That show looks like it was amazing!! I am jealous!

Last night I had a blast attending an event dubbed The Most Interesting Show In The World hosted by Party Man Andrew W.K. This was a special invitation only and I got lucky to experience this wild extravaganza...there were gorgeous burlesque dancers, circus acts, even a man breaking the guiness book of world record by submurging himself in a tank of water for over 20min. Andrew W.K. didn't disappoint and rocked it out hard. Just an all around awesome night...definitely a great way to celebrate 10/10/10

Last night I went and saw Land Of Talk w/ The Suuns, both migrating from Montreal. I mainly went to see The Suuns after downloading a free EP and I liked what I heard, a great electronic/psychedelic rock type of band and they put on a great performance that sort of reminded me of Autolux. Land Of Talk was backed by The Suuns powerful sound and really set a great tone for the rest of the night. The show was a surprisingly packed and even the singer of Land Of Talk couldn't get over the size of the crowd since it was the first time for both bands in PHX. She commented with "Man, it's only Tuesday; There's things I love, that I don't love on Tuesdays..." The crowd was also very supportive, moreso than usual and in such a small venue, they all seemed to dig the music.

Just got back from the Serena-Maneesh/Wovenhand show. It was great. I kinda miss that Hilma wasn't playing with Serena-Maneesh this time...shes so fun to watch live. But they were still a lot of fun live....I really loved that they played "Don't Come Down Here" since thats my favorite S-M song. This really has been a great month of concerts for me. Can't wait to see BRMC next week.
