the Gorillaz just KILLED IT at the Garden in NYC; for two hours, the likes of Mos Def, De La Soul, a classical string quintet, traditional middle eastern musicians, fucking LOU REED, gospel singers and a high school horn section, all took turns joining Damon Albarn, with Mick Jones & Paul Simonon of THE CLASH, as they backed up a cartoon band. THAT'S what i call a friday night.

also there was a prerecorded video intro by Snoop Dogg. dressed as a pirate. straight up, muthafuckas.

Haha, fuck yeah dude. I was there too. Too bad Lou Reed sucked a huge bag of dicks. Everything else about that show was simply amazing. I loved 19-2000, Stylo, and Empire Ants. Definitely hope they come back around again.

eh, cut the guy some slack, he's gettin up there. plus, he seemed to be having some technical issues as well. other than that, yeah, easily one of the best shows i've ever seen; loved how enthusiatic the crowd was the whole time. screaming out the chorus of Clint Eastwood with another 10,000 fans was a fucking blast.

be glad you were there; i wouldn't count on them coming this way again anytime soon.

10/18/10 9:52 PM

Muse at the Staples center. I won pit tickets

10/18/10 10:22 PM

Metallica last night. DEFINITELY worth all the bruises and the hair knotted to all hell. So stoked that I got one of Kirk's picks.
Going again tonight.

10/18/10 10:46 PM

Lightning Bolt secret show on saturday. Completely unannounced, no lights whatsoever, outdoors, played by starlight. And even with that they can still conjure a mosh pit out of thin air. I got myself bloodied and now my nose is crooked.

10/25/10 3:41 PM

Muse in the dirty jerz. Awesome show but somehow seems shorter than when I saw them at MSG back in March. Still a kickass performance.

10/27/10 5:26 AM

Last Saturday night, CCs Hotel (again!!!), saw The Radiators and Black Label!!! What a fun show that was!!!! Had a great time, not least because I got in for free because my daughter was official photographer for the pub again.

10/27/10 7:27 AM

Anathema with Anneke Giersbergen and Petter Carlsen. Two hours long show with everything I could imagine ("Sleepless"!).

Oh, and I've finally been to a Skinny Puppy gig in August. Wanted to see them from a long, long time.

10/27/10 2:01 PM

Roger Waters 'The Wall' live last night..

I'm still gonna rank Roger Waters 'Dark Side of the Moon" live in 2007 a little higher.. but seeing The Wall live was still amazing..

10/27/10 5:49 PM

Recoil/Gary Numan (support: Architect) at the Metro, last night. Wilder was brilliant, Numan still puts on a great show.

10/28/10 9:14 PM

Matt & Kim just an hour ago. Great show, if you're even remotely interested in their music go see them live.

10/29/10 9:29 AM

Portugal, The Man w/ White Denim:

It's been a long time coming for me to see both bands and I'd say it was well worth it. Moreso for White Denim, I remember their first album and immediately knew they'd put on one hell of a live show and honestly, even though they opened for Portugal, The Man, they fuckin' blew them out of the water. They are a heavy band that is like a mix between "MC5s" Hard Garage Rock sound w/ a 60s Psychedelic Pop Tone. Portugal, The Man have a great presence, they seem to have a shitload of fans out here in PHX. The show was packed and had lots of energy. I'm glad I saw both, but White Denim is just awesome...can't wait to see those guys again.

Doesn't he though? Although I hadn't seen him before last Saturday (the 30th Anniversary of TPP show in NYC) I thought seeing him live was very energetic, especially since he was playing the entire record with new tech. Then, the change in atmosphere when he went from TPP to the newer songs was quite dynamic. Also, his new piano-driven interpretation of Are Friends Electric? was brilliant.

Boom Boom Satellites and Rasputina were supporting. They were skilled, but not exactly my cup of mate.

10/30/10 5:20 PM

Last few good ones:

Muse at Wembley - wow!!!
Metallica at Wembley -also wow! but not quite as wow smiling smiley

11/01/10 10:33 AM

Snoop Dogg
Snoop packed and I mean PACKED a stadium at the AZ State Fair Fri night. Everybody from the floor to the top of rafters were dancing the entire time. Snoop is a funkadelic Pimp and really worked the crowd well. I always think of him as the George Clinton of Gangsta Rap. Security was definitely tighter than usual and before I got patted down the second time, yes, the 2nd time, they asked me seriously, if I had any Machine Guns on me. I thought it was funny. Even with being a state fair show, it was awesome, it was the perfect way to Spark off the Halloween weekend.

11/01/10 5:13 PM

Phantogram w/ Josiah Wolf at the Music Hall of Brooklyn Friday night. Awesome show.

11/03/10 3:34 PM

CCs Hotel again last night. First band were Ballshooters, never heard of them or seen them before, was very pleasantly surprised. Great covers band!!! And they proved that girls CAN play rock n roll!!!! Female bass player/singer, female rhythm guitar, and all really nice down-to-earth people. Second band was Black Label, I've seen them a few times before, great badass biker music. Headliner was Angry Anderson And The Junkyard Dogs, well, what can I say??? Mr. Anderson ALWAYS puts on a GREAT show!!!!
