I saw Radiohead back last year and wasn't impressed. Proabably due to standing in the same spot for 5 hours that day waiting for them to come on. Plus I wasn't overly impressed by the whole In Rainbow's debarcle regarding the poor quality downloads. However, they headlined this year at Leeds festival and pulled me back in again! Amazing live band, just superb! Makes you realise what a vital band they are, and how great pretty much all of their past albums have been.

You and Whose Army is my favourite song and it got played, just stunning live.

Just pre ordererd the new limited edition Thom Yorke release as well, I shall look forward to hearing that.

I'm feeling "Fake Plastic Trees" today.

09/07/09 2:28 PM

Now, I love The Bends as much as the next guy, but Fake Plastic Trees never stuck with me. Dunno why... I've played it in the car with people who dont even listen to Radiohead and they end up liking it more than me.

09/07/09 2:31 PM

I like the whole Bends album but music is subjective who knows maybe a year from now you might feel differently.

Awesome. Always loved that song, the first "reckoner", also called Reckoner Papapa version. It's great to see that they're making this song a bit more "official"

Oh christ. Thom's Uncyclopedia entry just made me cry with laughter.

Lyrical Talent

Thom Yorke, with a degree in English from the rather prestigious university, Exeter, has tapped into both his education and natural ability to create what critics say is like,"...wanting to jab you ears out with razorblades..." and "CHARLES FUCKING DARWIN, how the hell did you get famous!". Examples include:

"RUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUN!"

"The raindrops, the raindrops, the raindrops, the raindrops, the raindrops, the raindrops, the raindrops, the raindrops, the raindrops, the raindrops, the raindrops, the raindrops, the raindrops, the raindrops, the raindrops, the raindrops, the raindrops, the raindrops, the raindrops, the raindrops, the raindrops, the raindrops, the raindrops, the raindrops, the raindrops, the raindrops, the raindrops, the raindrops, the raindrops, the raindrops, the raindrops, the raindrops, the raindrops, the raindrops, the raindrops, the raindrops, the raindrops, the raindrops, the raindrops, the raindrops, the raindrops, the raindrops, the raindrops, the raindrops, the raindrops, the raindrops, the raindrops, the raindrops, the raindrops, the raindrops, the raindrops, the raindrops, the raindrops, the raindrops...." - (ad nauseum)

"Wha-nepi-na-nepi-na-nepi-nepi-na-nepi-na! Wha-nepi-na-neh-bleh-bleh-(Kid A! Kid A!)-bleh-na-bleh-na! Wha-nepi-na..."

"AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA! AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA-AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA! AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA! AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA-AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA! AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA-AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA! AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA! AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!"

These examples alone are enough to for critics to acclaim his singing is, "AMAZING, how could you not love this band!?"

Whoops! Maybe you were looking for Depression?

Rows of houses all bearing down on me
I can feel their blue hands touching me
All these things into position
All these things we'll one day swallow whole
And fade out again and fade out

This machine will not communicate
These thoughts and the strain I am under
Be a world child, form a circle
Before we all go under
And fade out again and fade out again

Cracked eggs, dead birds
Scream as they fight for life
I can feel death, can see it's beady eyes
All these things into position
All these things we'll one day swallow whole
And fade out again and fade out again

Immerse your soul in love
Immerse your soul in love.

it's sort of the last attempt by radiohead to do britpop and compete with the oasis and blur style bands, they were very smart to move away from that type of song

i bet the moment thom yorke found himself sitting in that shopping cart, filming that ridiculously trite video, he thought to himself "how did i get here?" and in his mind the world of ok computer and then kid a started to form

I love FPT. High And Dry though.....heh. The video for FPT is just blah.

Oh yeah, Mr. O'Brien said there will indeed be another Radiohead album.

Also, I like that romanticized inception of OK Computer and beyond.

^^Fake Plastic Trees is one of my favorites on The Bends

Wake from your sleep,
the drying of your tears,
Today we escape, we escape.

Pack and get dressed
before your father hears us,
before all hell breaks loose.

Breathe, keep breathing,
don't lose your nerve.
Breathe, keep breathing,
I can't do this alone.

Sing us a song,
a song to keep us warm,
there's such a chill, such a chill.

And you can laugh a spineless laugh,
we hope your rules and wisdom choke you.

And now we are one
in everlasting peace,

we hope that you choke, that you choke,
we hope that you choke, that you choke,
we hope that you choke, that you choke.

Wonderful song. One of my favorites from OK Computer. You can really feel the emotion in this song. I love it.

Hey guys, I've actually wanted to get into Radiohead for quite awhile now, but seeing as they have what like, seven albums is it?- I was wondering where a good place to start would be?

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

First make out with me.

Then OK Computer & The Bends.

Then prepare yourself because Kid A & Amnesiac may throw you off.

Pablo Honey is ok but I wouldn't pick it as a starting point. To me,they truly weren't "Radiohead" yet.

10/11/09 7:25 PM

Most people would probably consider OK Computer the best starting point. I started with In Rainbows, and I came out fine, so you could try that too. But yeah, Kid A and Amnesiac would probably be rough places to start, definitely dont miss them once you've checked out the rest.

10/11/09 8:30 PM

As a start go with The Bends and OK Computer (any of the two are fine) then you can work any way from there.

Although I agree with whoever definitely be prepared for Kid A/Amnesiac because they will throw you off track because of how different they are.

thanx guys. OK Computer it is for now. I've heard nothing but great stuff about them, not to mention the few songs I've heard were kick-ass, but I'm horrible when it comes to trying out new bands. I listen to too much NIN.

roflmao @CharmlessMan- you're so charmless it makes me laugh my ass off.

That's probably because Kid A/Amnesiac (also referred to together, because they were both recorded around the same time) were considered very different, direction wise at that point in radiohead's career. They're both excellent (amnesiac is actually my fav) but for people new to radiohead, they can be a bit "wtf" if you've just gone "wow, the bends is one of the best things i've ever heard, I love this band!!!"

OK Computer IS a classic album, but I'd as far as getting the best idea of their sound, i'd recommend listening to In rainbows.

Hope you enjoy!

I forgot about In Rainbows.

Crap, I'll have a lot of catching up to do.

I like a lot of variety in the bands I actually DO listen to on a regular basis, so Kid A/Amnesiac's change from their previous music actually makes Radiohead sound that much MORE appealing to me.

Are you such a dreamer?
To put the world to rights?
I'll stay home forever
Where two & two always
makes up five

I'll lay down the tracks
Sandbag & hide
January has April's showers
And two & two always
makes up five

It's the devil's way now
There is no way out
You can scream & you
can shout
It is too late now
Because

You have not been
paying attention

I try to sing along
I get it all wrong
Ezeepeezeeeezeepeeezee
NOT
I swat em like flies but
Like flies the burgers
Keep coming back
NOT
Maybe not
"All hail to the thief"
"But I am not!"
"Don't question my authority
or put me in the dock"
Cozimnot!
Go & tell the king that
The sky is falling in
When it's not
Maybe not.

10/18/09 6:44 AM

Kid A is my favorite album by them, I'm glad I didn't start with that album because it is really different compared to everything else.

10/23/09 3:04 PM

these guys really aren't THAT good people. some people seem to actually worship these guys and obviously get very snarky when anyone disagrees. just sayin'
