hmm, let the rumors of new APC material begin!

Maynard has said that APC probably won't release another full length album in the future, instead they will release one or two songs at a time digitally.
"Source: [www.roadrunnerrecords.com];

Hes also said that there will future Tool music, but at the minute hes busy with his wine and Puscifer.

How I love Tool and APC. Some of the Puscifer stuff is good but the majority of stuff seems not so great...

Momma sed, Undertaker, Trekka and The Mission are great tracks though. Some of the remix stuff is quite good too smiling smiley

Even after the 1000th time, Lateralus is still the best song ever.

Yes, there I said it. Lateralus is the best goddamn song ever.

After the Pot video, before the website redesign, before the new TOOL album, but after a few more of Maynard's wine signings.

Hell probably after all the Lakers too (like DC has time for rehearsals when the Lakers are playing)

You know, that sonuvabitch DC made us wait over an hour because he had to get from the staples center (where the lakers were playing) to the venue where Volto! was at!?

Aenima is the greatest album to come out of the 90's.

you are entitled to your opinion, but sorry charlie, TDS stomps all over aenima, even though i really like aenima, there is just no comparison,

Lateralus

/ end thread.

04/15/09 5:51 AM

i think aenima & lateralus were their best albums, but i do love opiate & undertow as well... reminds me of being young and wasted grinning smiley

10,000 days sounds great, but still doesn't keep me interested from start to finish like the previous albums... not sure why... it's all there, sounding great... the songs just don't burn into my memory O_O

You're right. Aenima is the greatest album to come out of the 90's winking smiley

TDS has some awesome tracks, but they don't reach the epic-ness of Aenima. I mean seriously, the first 5 tracks (Stinkfist -> Eulogy -> H. -> 46&2 -> Hooker With a Penis) is one of the greatest 5 track segments I've ever heard (with the absolute winner being the best album of all time, DSotM).

Sorry dude, TDS just doesn't have that same epic-ness smiling smiley

What's even worse is I can barely listen to TDS (and let's not talk about PHM...) since the live versions of the same songs are soooooooooooo much better

yep, that is just one more reason nin rocks, i think tool is better live too though, i still like PHM and TDS, for me they still hold their value,(and i always thought eraser was epic) and HLAH is just an awesome song no matter what...

Lateralus is pretty much the best album ever. Perfection first note to last.

I still prefer undertow. Ten thousand days would have been great if there were songs on the album tongue sticking out smiley. Way to much filler noise stuff for me. I hope they make a new album and just act like kids and rock out.

The seemingly all-knowing Blair posted:
As of now, there are only about a dozen shows planned, scattered throughout the United States of America. When the shows are confirmed, and the BAND’S booking agent and/or management gives me the go-ahead - and ONLY when they give me the go-ahead (for contractual obligations), I will post them.

He also goes on to discuss the possibility of a Toolarmy Pre-Sale for these shows, which are supposedly happening for most of the gigs.

So, you figure if there are a dozen shows...

1 = Lollapalooza, IL (confirmed)
2 = All Points West Festival, NJ (confirmed)
3 = Mile High Festival, CO (confirmed)
4 = XEC Center, MN (confirmed)
5 = ? Milwaukee, WI (rumored)
6 = ? All Good Festival, WV (rumored)
7 = ?
8 = ?
9 = ?
10 = ?
11 = ?
12 = ?

I've just started listening to 10,000 days (after owning it for nearly a year!).

Right in Two is fucking AMAZING, same with Wings for Marie/10,000 Days. The Pot feels completely out of place and a bit too poppy, and Intension kinda just sounds like filler. Overall, it's a very solid album, it just sounds more like a bunch of songs than an album though.

I'll have to give it a few more spins before it all sinks in though, so my opinion will probably change.

I have heard ONE announcement for an Atlanta date on a radio station a couple of weeks ago. Though, I have not heard or found anything else about this.

04/26/09 5:24 PM

^^^ yea my little brother told about tool at some festival here in sothern cal that he heard on the radio. but i havent found any info on it.

as for aenima or TDS id say aenima is the better album.
ive only seen both bands once, well 1/2 for tool, i got there late cuz there was a fire back in 06 so a lot of traffic. but it's hard to say which band is better live based on 2 shows. both sound amazing live but id say nin just because the songs are so different live than studio. the only small diference in tools songs are the extended part in stinkfist and small tone variations. nin has the ony time part in closer, sero sum ending in this twilight, ghosts piggy, and way heavier guitar in terrible lie, 19 ghosts III, head like a hole, and the big comedown, than the recorded versions.

05/03/09 11:00 PM

still no new tour dates. ive been checking everyday for them. its may already, summer is just around the corner. the anticipation is killing me.

05/04/09 2:08 AM

Tool is my favourite band after NIN. "Aenima" threw me off my chair with its epicness. There is no better song than "H.".thumbs up

Other favourites: "Sober", "Prison sex", "Stinkfist", "Forty six & 2" "The pot", "Jambi", "Parabola", "Pushit", "Aenema", "Rosetta stoned" and so on.

Hey I was wondering if someone familiar with TOOL mythology could tell me this:

What exactly was TOOL's relationship with the late great Bill Hicks? I know they took him on tour with them (a comedian opening for a rock band?). I heard he inspired Maynard to try stand-up.

What was their relationship really?

In Maynard's early days, he did some stand up comedy stints. He met Bill during that time.

Let me just lay this out real solid for everyone no one is a bigger Tool fan than me I even have an enormous seven point Tool Army star on my abdomen

But fellas Tool = Toast

Even such a supposed "enlightened" band has succumbed to the throes of fame and stardom. The thickening of their wallets has led to to dilution of there creativity and relevance.

10,000 Days was a spit in the face. The misinformation leading up to its release was disrespectful to their fans whether they had anything to do with it or not(they did) they could of quelled these rumors with some simple news updates.

As far as the content of the album its self that was even worse. Tool could have scaled it down to a 4 track maxi-single instead of wasting my $18.99 on some glasses and a bunch a dissonant segs.

Adam Jones released the video for "Vicarious" two years after the single and now he says he is working on the video for "The Pot" now? laughable he seems to know how to set his release dates right after I stop caring. As good as his videos are if you've seen one you've seen them all. Prison Sex really shook me up when I was a kid they just don't have that effect or any effect on me anymore!

Then we have the 10 song setlist for there 10KD tour? 10 songs?!?! thats it?!?! I drive 2 hours and spend 60 dollars on a ticket wait in line for hours for 10 songs? Fuck you

As for Pusicfer and Arizona Stronghold Vineyards I think both of these projects are social experiments by Maynard to see exactly how far his rabid fan base will follow him. I would rather listen to a bag of cats than his new solo album and who the fuck wants wine from a desert or wine period? I'm sure these provide him with much entertainment, because it is not entertaining to anyone else.

My prediction: Maynard next project will be a yacht racing league.

just look at this goofy douche clot wasting everyones time:

I hope I'm wrong though

another album the scale of Lateralus would be better than fucking a 10 right about now

^^ that was a pretty bitter message.

i've been into Tool since Salival came out, and i've never been particularly disappointed by them. i don't have the "wait in line for 10 songs" experiences because i've never seen them live (they don't play anywhere near here, ever, and never will), but i highly doubt i'd be disappointed if i paid to see them. ten songs or not, i'm pretty sure you'd have to be really down on the band already to be underwhelmed by their live show at this point.

i get a lot of satisfaction out of Tool's music, whether they be official releases or some of the fantastic bootlegs that can be found scattered about the vast interwebs. the video release schedule and misinformation are all funny to me. are you one of those Tool fans who takes the band too seriously? (i still don't really believe Tool Army is real, even if you got the tattoo!)

05/04/09 10:16 PM

i've always thought people were lucky to get anything out of tool outside the albums. even salival is a bitch to find a real copy without paying through the teeth or getting it off a torrent or some other bullshit.

i'm just happy with the albums i have and a couple of dvd singles i've got. anything else is a bonus. i'm actually more musically interested in a perfect circle and puscifer in recent times anyway. the last tool album i truly loved was lateralus.
