That would be the classic Selected Ambient Works Vol. II... I can get lost in pretty much every track of that fine album.

Did anyone else think of Selected Ambient Works II, when Ghosts I-IV was released?
The whole soundscapes/no tracklist/corresponding images thing?
Or was it just me?

His set a Coachella this year was so fucking awesome!

Richard D. James was the most important electronica act back in the day and now for me personally, he's the only one. It's funny how many other people have ripped his style, but they all seem to be lacking his polish, creativity and most importantly, his song writing ability.

Appropriately enough, I think the best track he's ever done was his creation for NIN, "At The Heart of it All".... one of most interestingly depressing pieces I've ever heard. In general though, his depressing stuff is top notch and when his songs go nuts, not even "The Great Destroyer" can compete.

It wouldn't be so bad if he didn't put it in everything.
I love that smile. It's pretty rad imo.

RDJ is a mad genius. I have most of his work and I don't think there is any of it that I don't like thus far.

I would love to see him come out with something new. It's been awhile.

Of course... not really a fan, but admittedly I haven't a lot of his new stuff. The last time I checked, it sounded like less interesting, but more tonal Aphex Twin.

I like driving to Aphex Twin...

those ambient works are traced back to brian eno. specifically apollo. and on another note. brian eno, reznor and david bowie collaborated the song 'i'm deranged' for lost highway.

besides windowlicker, come to daddy, film and selected ambient works i found is later techno bland.

01/20/09 12:39 PM

Never heard of this Aphex Twin...

01/20/09 12:55 PM

On cbc radio they played a great Aphex Twin mix of Bowie's Heroes, by the London Symphony. I f'n rocked.
