Anyone enjoy his performance at Mayhem last year? I thought it was all right. Not great but still ok.

I think I agree with Trent's comments on Manson: "He's a Dopey Clown."

In all seriousness, Manson wouldn't be anything or anywhere without Twiggy, Vrenna, and especially Mr. Reznor himself. I think Manson is very intelligent and talented, but he's also extremely Arrogant, Narcissistic and also downright Irritating less than Intriguing, which seems to take away from his overall presence as an Artist. It's sad, but true. Don't get me wrong, I dig Manson's Music, even his last record, though he is nothing without his bandmates and he's really only in it for himself and that's what turns me off.

I agree with this statement and would add John 5 to the list.

And, of course, Madonna Wayne Gacy.

Daisy Berkowitz, too.
Yeah, I knew I should've added these guys after my post, but I'm glad I'm not the only one who sees this point

i thought it was garbage. he was the reason i went to Mayhem, drove 5 hours each way. what...a giant let down. i've pretty much been turned off to Manson ever since. I didn't listen to him religiously or anything before but now..i don't know. with the exception of a handful of songs i'm over it.

yeah a majority of people after the show just bashed on him. Lol did he do that whole blanket thing at your show?

i don't even remember. the venue was terrible- we drove to Pittsburgh, sorry to anyone who has seen a show there (idk what it's called, it was some place outside) but it was horrible. we were straight up miserable by the end of the concert, which we didn't even stay for the entire set.
i think i did 90 the whole way home but got back in record time thumbs up

The majority of people who criticize Manson know little to nothing about writing and aren't analytical enough to understand his work to begin with. If they were, they'd keep their mouth shut and respect him for the creative and clever artist he is. I admit, not all of his work is a work of art, but a lot of it is, so shut up.

His image, sound, and voice are ultimately illrelevant to who he is and what he has to say as a person, so again, shut up.

Music is perceptional, like life itself. Grow up and stop saying anything you don't like is trash, because it's only based on your personal perceptions.

Stop saying this album sucks, but that album doesn't, because they're all the same man or in other cases, band. If you don't like who they become or who they were, who gives a fuck? I sure as hell don't. I appreciate people for their range as person, not who they are or were at one specific point.

Oh, and by the way... to those that bash Manson for befriending Lady Gaga, why don't you look into her symbolism before glancing at her and assuming she's just another pop tool.

God damn, people are so naive.

06/30/10 10:26 PM

Are you suggesting that if you like any of his stuff, you HAVE to like EVERYTHING he does? I honestly don't think his personal life is that important. His music is what's important.

what? just because someone doesn't like his music doesn't mean they don't respect him. i've read his book & i liked it. i totally respect him. i like his older stuff better than his more recent stuff- which i don't even like at all to be honest with you. liking a band doesn't mean you have to like everything they put out there. he sucked ass when i saw him live but that's just my experience.

i'm sure anyone can agree that there's music they used to listen to that they don't care for anymore. Manson just happens to be one of those bands for me.

I try to stay away from this thread because it really confuses me how so many nin fans don't like MM's new music.I try to comprehend but it always leaves me confused.......

I didn't get to go, but I watched a few live clips on Youtube. I don't know if it's the poor quality of the videos or anything, but he sounded pretty bad. He needs to be sober to put on a good show. Here's hoping he cleans up soon.

Yeah hopefully he cleans himself up. I prefer him being energetic and entertaining like he was during the 2001 or holywood tour.

I personally don't think Manson's ''addictions'' have adversely affected him artistically from a musical stand point.I mean even Trent continued to make GREAT music during his ''junkie'' years.

wow, putting those together really puts into perspective how downhill his performances have become.

my last show was the one he did for Lest We Forget and i told myself i'll never go to another one...he played for maybe 40 minutes and left...just whizzed right through all the hits.

i can tell if a performer loves what he does and he simply didn't.
he was getting a paycheck and nothing else.

I miss the Manson that I grew up with goddamnit.

I saw them twice (in '03 and '08) and they were awesome both times. No complaints here. All MM needs is one great album and all will be forgiven for his last few lackluster ones (although I did like EMDM).

I don't actually think The Golden Age of Grotesque, Eat Me Drink Me or The High End of Low are bad records. These albums just don't meet up to the lyrical and musical standards set by the other ones. Honestly, I loved Eat Me Drink Me, but will it be remembered as a "classic" 20 years from now? Probably not. Antichrist Superstar, Mechanical Animals, and hopefully Holy Wood, are more likely to be remembered as "classics" than his more recent works. As for Portrait and Smells Like Children, there are too many Manson fans who ignore these already to put them onto the pedestal his Triptych albums are on, which is a shame, because I love both of them.

07/08/10 7:55 PM

In my opinion Holywood was his best album. Combination of both Antichrist Superstar and Mechanical Animals. I enjoyed his last two though. Golden age was nice as well but a lot of people don't seem to like it very much.

07/08/10 8:00 PM

Even on a shitty Manson albums I love at least 3 songs, but still. I miss the days when I had trouble figuring out what song I liked the least.

Totally agreed. Great album and featured possibly the best MM lineup.

Yep. I don't think John 5 went all out on that album though. Still great album. I'm wondering if I should get the live in Los Angeles blu Ray that came out recently.

Just thought it was worth mentioning that Fred Sablan (Goon Moon, Birthday Twin, Crack) has been announced as a new member of MM. Not sure if he'll play guitar or bass (or both) but glad to see him joining the band. Goon Moon is awesome, so if more GM is in MM - it might make for better albums winking smiley

I saw this! I can say this is a pretty good move on Manson's part. Goon Moon has a very unique sound, and having Twiggy and Fred on board might give this album a much-needed edge. Although I don't know whether or not he's on the record, maybe he'll only be part of the live band, like Andy Gerold was. We can hope he's on the record, though.
