^ you obviously have your views, but where you pretty much discredited Holywood which is some of the strongest MM material ever - I just got to disregard your posts. That said, Jeordie is an amazing musician, and an even better song writer. I think for a guy who left MM and pretty much had the ability to go on with huge bands (APC/NIN) and then pretty much root himself right in the Desert Rock scene, there is probably a reason he considers MM his musical soul mate. Jeordie easily could stayed working on Goon Moon fulltime or hooked up with the many projects in that scene, but he chooses to work with MM for a very good reason. Same reason many other artists choose to work with him. For every person who sees merit in something, there's a thousand people who just as quickly want to tear it down. If MM isn't for you, that's good and you know where the door is.

EMDM was a Tim Skold solo album with MM doing vocals in a style/approach he wasn't familiar with. My issues with J5 and Tim is that while good musicians, the rawness of MM's music was lost with Jeordie and it always came off as almost a completely different band without him.

THEOL was just Jeordie and MM making a few songs together, with Vrenna just helping mixing/engineer the whole thing. This wasn't a huge involved project, as evident by their last tour. It was the end of the contact with interscope and they just had one last thing to put to be free. If you saw any of the shows you could tell they were just up there having fun and weren't at all being too serious about it. The creative freedom that this band has now excited me because he's not going to be tied to the same expectations of a label (who force certain tour situations, or ways albums should be promoted/marketed) and can truly just make music that works for them. If other people dig it, awesome but in the post-label era musicians are back making art for themselves.

As for Fred, he's been tweeting for a while about studio work, especially really long nights. When asked if it was MM he confirmed it was. This has been going on since April so suffice to say he's been involved in the studio for a while. The only person not really known to be involved in the album is Ginger but everyone else is completely accounted for.

Glad to see that the band is getting a new member. The last one was a bit stale. Looking forward to seeing what they come up with.

07/28/10 8:34 PM

Awesome. Goon Moon is pretty cool, so maybe with new members, and the whole no longer tied with interscope thing, the album might turn out decent...maybe....

Is that AS/MA/HW tour still gonna happen? Where they play each album three different nights at the same venue? That sounded neat. I might actually go to one of the shows if Manson stops wharrgarbling...

In hindsight it was a big mistake to let John 5 go. He's arguably the best musician they've ever had.

07/30/10 11:22 AM

does anyone else notice there seems to be a correlation between how well an artist enjoys making an album and how much that album will suck?

Manson said making Antichrist Superstar almost killed him...so many relationships down the drain..so many drugs down the hatch..etc.. great fucking album

the last few albums ..in interviews he has said..he enjoyed making these albums
EMDM- he said he recorded it really fast...and it was a form of release for him.
THEOL-he said being back together with twiggy for the first time in so long..they were happy and had a lot of fun making it.

this brings to mind Trent talking about his favorite song off of the How to Destroy Angels Ep...he said his fav song was The Believers because they all had a lot of fun making it.

i think the best art is like the best looking turd.
you really got to be constipated and shit that bastard out in a painful manner...it will be more impressive in the end though.

08/04/10 10:22 AM

The music on EMDM was nice, so was the music for The High End of Low. Manson himself was the weak link, so much so that he ruined what could of been two really nice rock albums.[quote/]

agreed

08/07/10 12:16 AM

Misery Machine is one of the most badass songs ever.

I didn't think it was horrible to begin with, but taking it at face value, it's pretty good, but clearly less serious than his other albums. Not that that's a bad thing all the time, Manson just does better with more inspiration. I'm dying to at least hear more about this next record, but maybe I'm just impatient.

i came across manson's myspace page.

he's mocking his fans.
he treats his fans like sheep.

let's look at one of the differences between Trent and Manson.

Trent- says repeatedly in interviews that he understands his fans don't like to pay for music anymore and prefers to treat them like he knows this but he obviously wants to make money so he thinks up ways to offer us special deals that we won't find gimmicky..etc.
if you read his interviews he constantly shows his fans respect.

Manson- posts on myspace blog that he has a personal problem with someone

he acts as if he can just give his fans some person's address and then they'll automatically go over there and ruin their own future by hurting this person or ruining their property...to someone they don't know because HE has a problem with them.
he's treating his fans like they're brainwashed idiots.

here's some news, asshole....you're not Charles Manson

08/10/10 2:19 PM

MM actually puts the addresses of people on his myspace page???

you cannot make a rule out of that, they just say that for publicity reasons

for the billionth time, he didn't make acs, trent and his band made that record and brian just added his do-it-by-the-numbers sure-to-upset-the-parents lyrics

08/10/10 6:14 PM

say what for publicity?

that an album was difficult to make or an album was fun to make?

seems either would work...might as well tell the truth

so, the album credits saying twiggy and manson were involved musically ..were lies and you know the real truth....awesome

doesn't matter..i was talking about it being a difficult album..not who "made" it.

I think these are the only songs Manson has composed alone:

Minute of Decay
Apple of Sodom
GodEatGod

He also wrote and produced some songs from the Resident Evil soundtrack:

Resident Evil Main Title Theme
Seizure of Power
Reunion
Cleansing

However, there are tons of songs that he helped compose (usually with Twiggy or John5). I mean c'mon, even though he doesn't compose the majority of music, he certainly does (err...did) more than just write lyrics.

The Resident Evil stuff was done with Skold I believe, but Skold I think was acting primarily as producer. Minute of Decay, Apple of Sodom, GodEatGod and Apple of Discord (the 2nd half of Coma Black) are the only songs completely composed by MM (Check BMI and ASCAP for credits if needed) but he was involved in the writing of a lot of the music on MA and HW and select tracks on GAOG and THEOL.

you make it easy for me to patronize you

i've got nothing against people having their own opinions on matters but just about everything i've seen you have a strong opinion about and want to argue about makes you seem like a troll rather than someone who honestly believes what they're saying.

or maybe you're just an idiot.

i guess there's always that possibility.

I don't get the hate on Golden Age album, i think it's a great album.

Same.

I enjoyed Golden Age, just not as much as his earlier stuff. I kinda just don't take Golden Age very seriously, which I feel is part of how you should take that album.

It's alright. I listen to it every now and then when I want some straightforward rock/metal.

Just came here to quote you man. Good post.

Quoted for truth!

In my opinion that album was good for two songs, Golden Age and (s)AINT and Golden Age isn't even that good of a song.

09/21/10 6:23 AM

yeah, i don't know. manson has had forever to finish this thing.

how many years has it been?

i think it's not the studio but rather Manson that pulled the plug.

and he's mentioned in interviews how the studio that's producing it told him..he can take as long as he wants to finish it..and put whatever he wants into the movie..etc..

maybe he's too busy crying about his latest female troubles...

09/21/10 6:57 AM

Well that's shitty news, since this was really the only thing I care about him finishing up. The trailer looked really intriguing and dark. I'm not surprised though that producers would close production, I mean, Finish this fucking thing already. I understand he has a music career to attend to, but goddamn. The trailer came out how long ago? I know he has a great passion for film, but this sounds a little like being too much of a "perfectionist" in my opinion. I mean, it's not like I'm expecting Eraserhead out of this, so why take 6-7yrs on a project that probably wouldn't even see the light of day in theaters. If the film was truly important to him, he would finance it himself, I'm sure he's got some money to contribute...they don't call it Independent Film-Making for no reason.
And fuck him and his female troubles, that motherfucker had Dita Von Teese and then Evan Rachel Wood; he should have a smile on his face 24/7
