The reality of this fool is that he has not been relevant in over a decade. A majority of the music he has ever laid his hands on was pure garbage. The one thing he did have going for him was a most entertaining live performance...but as it has been mentioned several times...that time has come and gone.

You couldn't pay me to listen to that garbage again.

No pictures of Twiggy from the Korean concert? Does he still look like a dotted guy with baggy pants?

Seriously Maynard and Billy need to stop being whores and just bring A Perfect Circle back so Jeordie has something to do other then this crap, and Danny Lohner/Richard Patrick/Wes just need to finish The Damning Well. Because lets be honest Manson is just cornfed bad shock rock still.

I really really liked everything up through Holywood. The Tripych (sp?) is one of my favorite album compilations of all time. Golden Age was when Manson started losing it. I mean, the album wasn't terrible, I could tolerate it, but it wasn't great. Eat me Drink me, my god, I can't even listen to that album all the way through, it was so boring.

I'd imagine Manson is just completely falling apart on the inside, so he probably drowns everything out with Absinthe to get through his concerts.

I miss the Manson I know from reading "The Long Hard Road Out Of Hell". He's really intelligent and has a lot of potential. He just needs to get his shit together.

09/05/08 11:23 AM

I wouldn't call him really intelligent. Neil Strauss wrote the whole book and it was Brian basically going like: "but they don't understand me boohoo...and then Trent didn't let me in the studio and didn't give a fuck about my rants about the Kaballa and then Twiggy wasn't understanding me either, he must be teaming up with Trent against me boohoo"

I think that Manson is probably even more emo than the "King of Emo" Trent when it comes to this kind of stuff! :p

09/05/08 11:23 AM

I honestly thought that Long hard road was a whiny, boring read. It has its moments, but he always seems to put the responsibility on someone else. Someone else's Idea to get stupid high, someone else's idea to do something terrible to innocent retarded fans. I loved The first 3 albums but i can't stand how high on himself he is. Its a shame he feels he has to date someone so young just to get publicity nowadays. whatever if he wants to shock and surprise he should wash off the make-up, and do an acoustic set, LOL. I'd pay to see that.

That was only one section of the book....

Ive never liked Manson to be honest, his "Im a freak so look at me standing out" attitude has never settled with me. I found him quite pathetic, and him going out of his way to be pretentious just annoyed me.
His new album - i never listened to the whole thing, just saw the songs he released in passing on some music channels. I thought he had some sort of standard but he proved me wrong. Hes terrible now, i cant believe the level hes sunk to. To the level of Simple Plan in my opinion.
And thats low.

I dont think he deserves any reputation in the music world.

Jesus freaking Christ.

I'm not on here to preach, or brag or whatever really but seriously. This fight has been fought since forever ago, even back when Manson and Reznor were great friends. I've been a fan of Manson for 15 years (fuck I'm old as shit huh?) and have seen him change time and time again. I'm also a huge NIN fan, remixing his music was a god send to me grinning smiley. They are two different entities even though they both worked together at one point. WHO CARES! So this one likes Manson, this one likes NIN and they both hate the other. I listen to the music, I have watched the videos, I've seen Manson in concert more times than I can honestly remember and yet it doesn't fucking matter because it's my choice. I love the band. Who cares what people think and despite his ups and downs he still has good songs. To be honest there are some songs I don't like, I mean come on how can one person love each and every song someone puts out?

Each and every single Manson fan has a favorite "era". I wasn't too fond of the Mechanical Animals era but still admired it enough for it's completely different sound than any other album at that time. HolyWood was awesome. To be honest Eat Me, Drink Me is like a razor to me since I kind of went through a fucked up relationship around the time it was released and saw him in concert this past Feb. with my now ex, so it's one of those I listen to sparingly. Fact of it is - WHO CARES!

As for his influence - what have you done so impressive (important or not) that has attracted the media and millions of people? Seriously - I'm not shit and I'm not going to go and pretend like I am, neither should you (whoever YOU are), unless of course you deserve the attention and / or the adoration of millions of people around the world. It may be your opinion but still - masses speak larger than individuals. Times change but whether you like it or not - Manson DID influence the music industry AND caused such an uproar of protest that few people have managed to accomplish in DECADES. Let's just pretend that he didn't get as big as he did - at least he tried.

Despite the fact that Manson has lost the media coverage he used to receive I still listen to his music, I still watch the videos. I still admire him for what he has done. It's been a hell of a ride. He's almost 40 years old and I can remember him saying that he won't go out like The Rolling Stones, rocking in walkers, he would rather go out while still somewhat young. Nobody stays on top forever but he's been around longer than %90 of the one hit wonders that pollute the media with pure, absolute recycled shit.

If you don't like him - don't listen. I don't care - neither should you.

09/06/08 3:46 PM

i remember watching manson on politically incorrect ...and he was just ripping all these ideas...a new asshole...i thank him for opening my mind up to ideas...and free thinking..again..he was a symbol. he was meant to burn bright...life fast ..die young...he's one of those rock stars that just don't make sense to see them get older...what's shock rock when you're 40...you've done all you can do by then.

09/06/08 3:57 PM

I think the music of manson is very interesting, but i think actually her music chance

Meh, I couldn't care less about Manson these days. His only great album was Antichrist Superstar and his last descent album was Mechanical Animals. If he does something good in the future I'll listen, but I'm not holding my breath.

09/07/08 9:01 AM

Marilyn Manson has fucked up his album.Fucking vampires and shit.Sorry for teh foul language.angry smiley

09/07/08 9:06 AM

I only like Mansons first 4 albums.

The reason should be obvious

09/07/08 11:04 AM

Mansons alright...havent listened to his latest album. He seems intelligent enough...kinda arrogant tho. I like his paintings. tongue sticking out smiley

I seem to be the odd one out here.

I thought The Golden Age of Grotesque was horrendous. I really, really liked Eat Me, Drink Me. At least in EMDM, He tried to harmonize while he sang, and all the songs didn't sound exactly the same and have completely ass retarded lyrics that don't even make sense when your totally shitfaced and finding everything deeply moving. EMDM was fresh and had a lot of great rock elements thrown in that made most of the songs quite catchy, i didn't love all the tracks, but a lot of them have made it onto mix CDs.

To be fair though, my expectation had been really lowered after hearing the Golden Age of Grotesque.

But i will also agree that Holy Wood and Mechanical Animals were pretty much Manson's apex. I don't think anything that comes out in the future will match up, but i'm still looking forward to the next album either way.

Calm down, one is entitled to express their opinion, you say how much you like him, i say how much i dont. Yours obviously differs from mine, get over it?

Manson was good when he had eyebrows. He hasn't had eyebrows in such a long time.

In my opinion Manson is a complete asshole.

I dont like anything I have ever heard by him.

He is arrogant, maybe even an asshole. But I think he *almost* earns the right to be after all the shit he's taken from people over the years.

My mother saw The Long Hard Road Out Of Hell on my shelf (she kinda likes his music) and she borrowed it. Damn, she was appalled when she returned it! Especially because of the amount of cussing and the "kill your parents" thing she found somewhere in the book. She told me quite frankly that I've wasted money on MM's stuff.

I did tell her it was MY MONEY...

But there's no denying that as a personality, MM is a mess. To me that doesn't matter. Who isn't a mess, on some level? I like his art and since I will never live next door to him, I don't care if he's charming or not.

Haha I saw that book at borders once..so I started reading it and it seems like a really interesting read. Was gunna buy it but the price was kinda steep so i left it. Definitely on my to read list though!

09/09/08 5:43 PM

I really enjoyed it, and even LOLed a lot. It's not to be taken seriously, otherwise you'd end up like my mother. She's an amazingly cool person, at 57 she listens to metal and NIN and goes to gigs with me but MM still got to her.

I pretty much drifted away from Manson over the last few years, but with Jeordie returning, I'm willing to give him another chance. I was pleasantly surprised by the shows I caught earlier this year after hearing some not so good reviews from the tour with Slayer. If Manson has just been letting Jeordie do his thing with the music and not try to micromanage that aspect of things, I'm pretty confident the new record will be really great. I really hope Jeordie's return brings about a rebirth of sorts.

It is kind of disappointing, though, that Jeordie's Goon Moon project, having just gotten off the ground, has had to be put on indefinite hold now. I was really digging that shit big time.
