Announcement from Marilyn Manson (12/24/2008)

"Ladies and gentlemen, I'd like to make an announcement. the rumors that I found a 'replacement' for Evan, or that I have a new girlfriend are absolutely not true. I am finishing up my album, and I also have never even met Ne-Yo. I can assure him that he would not want to be associated with something this godless. Get over the holiday so I can happily ruin the new year for anyone that assumed music was going to stay boring and sweet."

i think he's full of shit. he was all talk before his last album, and he didn't release his new song before the end of '08 either. i wouldn't be surprised if this ne-yo thing is actually happening, like a crappy madonna/timberlake exercise.

with track titles like 'i wanna kill you like they do in the movies' and 'armagoddamnmotherfuckinggeddon', podboy & twiggy have their work cut out for them bringing manson back from the dead this time around grinning smiley

Im really looking forward to Manson's new album! Im really glad to see Twiggy back on board, and I really liked what Wes did in Black Light Burns, so I hope to see that this next Manson album will be as good as Golden Age..

01/03/09 9:42 AM

^^Oh dear, I hope it's way better than Golden Age.

01/03/09 10:14 AM

I personally really liked Golden Age, It wasnt as good as Mechanical Animals or Holy Wood... but it was better then Eat Me, Drink Me.

01/03/09 11:29 AM

agreed! technically, it was one of manson's best albums, but golden age came across to me at least, as a pardody of his previous albums. there was little substance lyrically, and it was more visual style and big manson-by-numbers stadium-rock kinda tracks over lyrical and experimental depth of his previous albums.

don't get me wrong - instrumentally they sounded amazing, but lyrically they were bordering on the ridiculous save for a few songs on there, much like the last minstry album i bought, 'the last sucker' - technically bombastic, but nothing new to keep me coming back for repeat listens.

still, it was a hell of a lot better than EMDM, and people have gotta stop blaming skold for how bad that album sounds - his solo work and his work with kapt'n k are immensely better than what ended up on EMDM...

01/03/09 11:52 AM

Doppelhertz is amazing. All of you must get your hands on it if you can somehow.
I got mine with The golden age of grotesque - which was a pathetic album.

I think mansons best work lyrically was Holywood. As far as best overall cd it would have to be Portrait hands down.

Lyrically also Mechanical in parts.....Mechanical was a cd I hated when it first came out. Fundamentally Loathesome I fucking adore also Great big white world, Disassosiative and User Friendly have always been on heavy rotation for me.

As far as mansons personal life goes I really couldnt give a fuck who hes shagging. I think people like perez need real jobs instead of sitting at starbucks drinking enemas and typing away nonsense on their laptops.

Manson apparently plans on trying to get testimony from Trent, Dita, and good ole Freddy the Wheel in the Pogo lawsuit. I have no idea why, none of those people are particularly fond of him at this point. He set Fred on fire, for God's sake.

01/03/09 12:31 PM

Fred is being called by Bier's lawyers. I doubt Manson is wanting to get Trent involved in this - but he's really one of the few qualified people to testify to the band's management once signed to Nothing. The original band contract was signed by the Portrait-era band, but once Gein was kicked, Scott quit and Freddy got lit - I can understand how the band's power would have shifted.

As for Dita - I'm sure her testimony will only go to show they shared many of the expensives - including the lavish wedding in quesiton. She was far from poor prior to meeting Manson, so I really don't buy that he had to use so much of his personal money for her.

I personally don't care for EMDM at all, and while musically I didn't like John/Skold's writing on Golden Age - I like the lyrical style. It's much more of a play on words, and less bland and to the point. Songs like Doll-Dagga and TGAOG have some of the most original lyrics of his I can remember.

This new album is going to be ridiculous. I know this for a fact. Chris and Jeordie are not holding back in any respect.

Here's the article that backs me up, but you sound like you know better than a tabloid rag, so whatever:

Los Angeles (E! Online) Marilyn Manson wants to hook back up with Dita Von
Teese...and Trent Reznor and several other old pals.

The shock-rocker's camp has unveiled a witness wish list that includes his
ex-wife, his Nine Inch Nails-fronting mentor to testify on his behalf in an
upcoming court showdown with estranged keyboardist Stephen Bier.

Bier, otherwise known as Madonna Wayne Gacy, sued Manson for more than $20
million last year, claiming Manson siphoned off millions of dollars in band
revenue.

The funds allegedly paid for drugs, assorted Nazi paraphernalia, the cost of Von
Teese's engagement ring and the ex-couple's 2005 wedding, and interior
decorating of Manson's mansion, which features a stuffed grizly bear, a pair of
baboons and the skeleton of a 4-year-old Chinese girl.

Manson, whose real name is Brian Warner, countersued in August, claiming Bier
didn't live up to the terms of his contract and was simply a disgruntled
ex-employee. Bier left the band in 2005, shortly before Manson began work on his
sixth album, Eat Me, Drink Me.

The trial is set to kick off on Feb. 2. Both Manson and Bier are expected to
take the stand, along with their witnesses.

Reznor, for instance, is expected to speak about his tenure producing Manson's
debut album, Portrait of an American Family, released on Reznor's Nothing
Records imprint.

As for Von Teese, the burlesque model will answer questions about their marriage
and personal life.

Manson also wants to call former drummer Fred "Freddie" Streithorst, aka Sarah
Lee Lucas, to discuss the band situation.

i thought it was catchy and hit all the right notes for an album of manson singles, but i just didn't feel all that much for it as i did with previous ones. it seemed really formulaic or something, although 'doll-dagga', 'para-noir' & the title track were pretty cool.

as for doppelhertz, i personally didn't like it at all. it was so repetitive and the poetry just grated on me after a while. i think i'd need to be view it again while on some kickass drugs before i can say it was an amazing piece of art. to each our own though i guess smiling smiley

antichrist was an opus, much like the fragile, but my fave albums are animals and wood.

This comment was posted by Rudy Cody, a friend of Manson's, when someone asked him about the new album.

[blog.myspace.com]

"You're not being rude, you're just being sincere - that kind of excitement is welcome and encouraged.

I've heard the new album so many times that I practically know all the words (not really because they're so complex, but enough that's what I find myself singing to myself in the car, etc)

Without giving anything away - (I'm a Magician, after all, and keeping Secrets to someone who trusts me is my bond) - I'd say what stands out is how fucking raw and heart-felt the lyrics are on this one. Blood oozes out of the speakers on this one. Twiggy being back and allowed to fucking go crazy is a revelation - everything he absorbed being in A Perfect Circle or NIN but was held back from doing is laid bare here.

The people who long for the heaviness of Antichrist Superstar are going to shit their fucking pants - Manson has a better word than 'heavy' to describe it that is apt, but I'll let him tell the tale when the time comes. But....Holy.Fucking.Shit.

My favorites are the ones that he played me last that he had 'forgotten about' - which shows you the strength of this album. Think about that for a minute: my favorites are not the first, second, third, seventh or even TENTH ones he played for me. Wow. There is way too much for just one record.

I read one of the descriptions of one of the songs as the new 'Para-noir' which kind of confirms you can't really compare what's on this record to the past. To me it's more like Pink Floyd and Led Zepplin mated and their children covered 'Doppelherz' while slowly bleeding to death in a porno house on 42nd Street before it was taken over by Disney (but maybe that's just me)

But I digress....

I could talk about this for a week without giving away specifics but know this: Manson is at his strongest and most powerful in all the years that I've known him. The excitement I feel for the guy and what 2009 is going to be like for him cannot be expressed in words."

01/05/09 5:28 AM

WOW... The album's nowhere yet and the asskissing's already going full steam ahead!

01/05/09 5:32 AM

Why do I have this hunch that it's going to suck a lot of balls?

01/05/09 5:35 AM

It's premature to assume anything at this point.

01/05/09 6:53 AM

AnnaDraconida - you are right. I understand how GAOG & EMDM may have ruined Manson for some people. And those people who aren't really fans are probably already decided on how this album is going to be. But this is an album not written by John 5, not written by Tim Skold. This is the return of Twiggy, who has always been, and always will be the better half of this band.

I can't imagine what this is going to sound like, especially after Twiggy has grown so much as a musician from his time in APC, NIN & GM.

You really got hatred from that comment?

01/05/09 10:38 AM

i just think if it's so goddamn spectacular he could have at least released one song, or a 10 seconds sample of a song or something by now. i remember all the talk before EMDM too, and when i finally heard it, it was the most disappointing album i'd heard in years.

i think there's huge potential for a brilliant album, as twiggy and vrenna are amazing artists when they're allowed to let loose and just create, but recent history, GAOG included, not to mention those supposed new track titles... i won't be convinced anything's changed for the better until i hear it for myself.

Everyone seems to hate GAOG and expect something a 1000 times better. It wasn't THAT bad. I'd easily give it 7.5 out of 10.

I think that's probably the best way to approach any new release.

There was a time that I loooved Manson, and I'll admit that I still kinda do. However, I do think he's gone downhill since Dita. Granted, I loved Golden Age, but honestly she really was the band's Yoko Ono. There hadn't been so many line-up changes since Antichrist.

I'll miss Johnny, but I always thought Wes was too good for Limp Bizkit. Whether or not he's too good for MM...Well, maybe Manson's got a winner up his sleeve. I just hope he doesn't pull a backslide like what he did with Holy Wood. Manson's like a horror-show Madonna/Bowie hybrid. He's at his best when he's evolving, not playing it safe.

I LOVED HOLY WOOD! MY SECOND FAVORITE ALBUM OF MM! And if you've heard black light burns... you know what Wes can do for industrial... I think its very promising.

is Wes gonna be on the new album anyways? i thought he wasn't.
i hope this new album is something different and not an attempt for ACS II

I don't hate Holy Wood, but I must confess that I think it was a step backwards after Mechanical Animals. Of course, I feel I must admit that I really didn't pay much attention to MM until MA. I know a lot of folks think that was the band's sell-out album, but I think it was a very bold move. Holy Wood just didn't feel like a natural evolution from that album. However I suppose the fact that Antichrist, MA, and Holy Wood are an alleged trilogy (or whatever) and meant to be listened to as a semi-cohesive unit could account for that.

Huh...Black Light Burns, eh? Interesting. Someone gave me a burned copy of an album by that band, but I'd never heard of them and have been hesitant to listen to them (the guy who gave it to me has real questionable taste sometimes). I may check it out now that I have an idea of what it is.

No, Wes was hired for playing shows. Twiggy is handling guitar and bass on the album.
