Ya know, when it comes to the absolute worst form of music, I would think emo is slightly better than mainstream rap. Yeah emo sucks, but 30S2M aren't nearly as horrendous as Soulja Boy or Missy Eliot. Generic sounding beats and bird squawks? Yeah, that's music alright!

I personally can't stand rap/hip-hop/whatever you wanna call it. I just don't like it, at all. It doesn't appeal to me the least bit. I do, however "respect" some of the earlier artists like Public Enemy, NWA, RN DMC and the Beastie Boys but as far as today's shit goes, fuck it.

I used to be a big time metalhead.... I still am, really. But it really is OK to broaden your horizons a little bit. The thing is, as much as I like metal, it really only expresses one emotion: anger. You can't be angry ALL the time.

That's a generalization and just a tad bit unfair. I like alot of types of music, everything from Behemoth to Clint Mansell to Vangelis to Tears For Fears to NWA ( back when rap meant something!!) to Blut Aus Nord to Rammstein to Karl Sanders to Depeche Mode.

I think it would be fair to put Nas on that list.

Immortal Technique is a great rapper, Akir is good as well.

And for whoever said that they don't like crappy "industrial knockoffs" like Stabbing Westward: Get a clue. Stabbing Westward does not have much in common with NIN as far as song structure and makeup go. They are an alternative rock band, given not a very good one, but they dont "rip off" NIN. If they were trying to rip-off NIN then they probably would not record, write and play music the way they do, as it is not very similar to NIN. That same crappy comparison of NIN and SW could be made for NIN and a myriad of acts that preceded NIN and it would be an equally bad comparison.

I LOVE their last album. "Live through this" for example is overrated as fuck and for the most part just crappy music but "Celebrity skin" has many catchy and great pop rock songs on it. That's probably because Courtney herself was not responsible for the melodies and instrumental parts.
