I know this will sound like shoegazer blasphemy, but I've always preferred them to My Bloody Valentine (despite the fact that they were named after one of the greatest slasher films of the 80s!). MBV tended to allow aimlessness far too many times; they lost me in some of their musical tangents. Whereas, Lush had a very clear vision of what they wanted musically.
Oh, and they never damn near bankrupted a record label with one record. HA!
And I'll take these two over Kevin Shields anyday...

Isis- their whole atmospheric heavy sound really caught my ear, i normaly dont listen to bands with screaming vocals or whatever but i can really feel this.

The Vines- been a fan of them for a while and recently started listening through their albums again.

Blu- really good modern hip hop especialy in the album Below the heavens with producer exile which make an amazing team. also his instrumental beats he produced himself are greaat.

Harold Budd- dreamlike ambient music, it feels intense at times too. love love The White Arcades.

and ill sum it up with The Smashing Pumpkins because i never realized how awesome they truely are

I like both Lush and My Bloody Valentine quite a bit. Both bands are great to me. I'm not sure which band I prefer more though. I know out of the shoegaze and dream pop genres though I'm more of Slowdive and Cocteau Twins fan.

Yes, to Cocteau Twins. Incredibly beautiful music once they decided to give way to their desire for lushness and broader canvas.
I'd also add my favorite triphop group:

This will definitely change when I get the DSL back.

That would have been awesome! I really do hope they play in Sydney some time. I think they have a really cool, unique sound. It's a much darker, heavier psych rock kinda thing. I love all the drones and effects they use <3

It actually took hearing a DJ play a Caribou track (I think it was Sun) in the middle of a set of straight up house that made me really appreciate the band. I am really in to them now.
