LOL! Back in the day, I think I was about 17, that Peter Steele Playgirl came out. My friend dared me to buy it, and never being one to shrink away from a dare, I bought it. The entire experience was a huge gigglefest until my mom found it. She never said anything, but I knew she was horrified. I found it sitting on the top of my magazine pile one day, after I had carefully hidden it.

He had a huge schlong and a rolex in the pix. The rolex was really FEATURED in the photos.

I'll have to say I may be the biggest TON fan here. I have seen them 4 times.
I think with every album they get better. World coming down is my fav. and Dead Again is freakin awsome. And too all the people who have lost interest since Bloody Kisses(not even close to their best) I say Listen to "These Three Things" "White Slavery" "Creepy Green Light" and "Profit of Doom" it will probably re-ignite your interest.
Yes, I am slightly worried about Pete's health.I can only hope for the best. And thier most recent tour was awsome.Pete did seem better than the previous time I had saw them.
He has one of the most amazing voices in metal.I hope for another album.(thier new contract is a 3 album deal, one being dead again)

Here is some footage my wife took on thier most recent tour talking about dimebag darrel and how he wished it was him that got shot instead of Dime.

TON never gets any airplay where I live. Two of my friends who work in the music industry recommended TON to me. That's how I discovered them. It's not just girls who like Peter Steele. He's a respected vocalist and musician who also writes great songs. His lyrics come from the heart. He knows how to express his pain in beautiful ways. I know his health these days isn't all that great. Everyone at the TON site worries about him constantly. If he ever left TON...if something happened to him or if he died one day...I think a part of me would die as well. yawning smiley

I have to be in the mood, but Type O Negative is awesome, reminds me of the old days.

Do you remember the whole Peter Steel R.I.P. headstone joke?

12/01/08 7:55 AM

I wasn't around for that. I heard they posted a message at the site about Peter dying 2 years ago, or something like that.

12/01/08 1:29 PM

Shortly before Dead Again came out, when you would go to the website there was just a photo of a grave with Peter's name on it w/the dates and some message.
Knowing of there prankful past I Kinda believed he had died. It was there for a few day.

You guys are gonna be stuck looking at my Peter avatar forever whether he stays in TON or not. I tried to change my avatar at least a hundred times since Kenny Maclean died last week and it won't for some reason. That's why the captions don't match the photo anymore. It's too bad Peter doesn't look like that now. I hope he gets better soon and looks after himself. Enough said.

have any of you guys heard of/checked out Kenny Hickey & Johnny Kelly's side project Seventh Void? I got a bulletin from the Type O Negative myspace page saying to check out their MySpace and they're pretty awesome. Kenny's the lead vocalist/guitarist opposed to lead guitarist/secondary vocals. I couldn't find any info about an album release date but there's a decent amount of songs up on the page.

Yeah, I read something about Seventh Void in the newest Revolver magazine... i may check them out.

Type O used to be one of my favorite bands... and i definately agree that World Coming Down is one of the best albums ever!! And Bloody Kisses and October Rust had so many anthems to the metal world. I personally didnt like Dead Again and Life is Killing Me as much... but I still hope to see more TON in the future!

Haven't heard the side project but saw them both a couple of times while they were in the live band for Danzig.

I like Type O alright, my gf really loves them and has all the albums and DVDs so I just get my TON fix that way.

They were one of my favorites....even had the chance to see them play at L'Amours in Brooklyn. I'm still so sad Peter's gone :-(

03/21/11 12:58 AM

ah, Type O; what self respecting goth/metal kid in the mid 90's didn't have a couple of their albums, most likely on cassette?

was fortunate to catch them live a couple of times; both halloween shows; they were consistent like that. don't remember too much about them, though i do recall at the 2nd one the band doing the whole gig wearing rubber monster masks, and Pete Steele chugging whiskey THROUGH the mask, the entire set.

needless to say it was an awesome show. alas for our loss!

i really wish Peter was still alive. sad smiley

Just wanted to share this cover song that was released today by this singer. For those who don't know her work, Lilith is an amazing metal vocalist, performing both on her own and with the band Sorrowseed in the Boston area. Her growls rival any guy in the biz and her shrieks will freeze you cold! This song shows her whole range including a beautifully clear singing voice she is unveiling for the first time. You'll be surprised it's all the same person. She is impressive to both see and hear!

Goth music and metal have been her life-long passions. Peter was one of her vocal idols and she was very affected by his passing. This is a tribute from the heart.

just ran across a very cool tribute blog, For The Love Of Pete Steele, with lots of old family photographs and stories. it's a very intimate "behind the scenes" portrait of Peter Steele.

As some of you already know, sadly Peter Steele (Vocalist and Bassist) of TON passed away on April 14th from heart failure. I haven't been online for awhile {and i do not watch MTV)so I just found this out about 3 days ago from one of my coworkers. I was fucking crushed. TON were up there in my list of faves along side of NIN. I sunk myself deep into their music (sometimes for weeks straight). I was fortunate to see them live twice. As all TON fans know, Peter had a dark sense of humor about him. I'm gonna miss that and more importantly, his music. My thoughts go out to his family, friends and bandmates.
If any one of you are TON fans, please feel free to voice your emotions, concert experiences,.... whatever concerning TON.

May you rest in peace, Peter

I know Peter passed away a few weeks ago, but, I finally found my interview/conversation with him. It was right before the Dead Again Tour came to Philly. It was supposed to be an interview, but, due to the fact that he was such an amazing person, the conversation went all over the place and the interview part disappeared. It may sound chopped and jump from place to place because there are some things that were edited and cut out of respect to his privacy and mine. We chatted a few times after this as well, and every conversation was amazing. Wanted to share this with you to show you how remarkable Peter was and how much he will be missed for not only his music, but his person as well.
