Agreed!

Dear Mr. Cornell,

Please reunite Soundgarden. Preferably sometime within the next six months.

Thank you your time.

Best Regards,

i remember Buddyhead writing a letter to Chris Cornell saying "stop this fruitcake shit and call up kim, matt and ben" im not sure if that's 100% right.. i must go check.

Yep, I agree too, they should play together again. I like that CC's first solo album, but what is he making now? I don't like it as much as I love SG. And Audioslave were great too, but it's good to have RATM back.

Anyway, wanna SG back!smiling smiley

09/09/08 3:00 PM

I like Cornell's solo stuff but I would like to see Soundgarden get back together.

I'll bet they would be amazing to see live!

yeah... audioslave was fun nad got some great songs, and same for solo works of chris but hell..soundgarden again together would be awesome

I don't see a SG reunion anywhere in the near future. Which is unfortunate. I would have rather seen that than some other bands that have gotten back together just to make shitty music and a quick buck (ie smashing pumpkins)I totally agree with the.fragile. Euphoria Morning was an amazing album and still listen to it regularly today. It was a slight departure from what SG would have been. But a lot of that album credit has to go to Alain Johannes and Natasha Schneider(rip)from Eleven(check them out if you never heard of them and you'll know exactly what I'm talking about. As far as SG's music is concerned, it worked so well. And I understand the breaking-up-while-you're-on-top theory but it should have just stayed a theory. Now we fans of SG and CC have to listen to Timbaland beats with a voice that was so influential and so powerful that I'm almost embarrassed about it. But all good things come to an end I guess, right.
Side-note: I think it's funny that no one here even mentioned Audioslave.lol

Didn't see your post. Sorry buddy...
Audioslave just didn't work. Do you remember all the hype about a year before the first album was released? "Is is gonna sound like Rage with a singer?" It did. That's exactly what it was. And Cornell's lyrics fell off. You could tell by the shit he wrote that he wasn't that into it. Plus the fact after Revelations was recorded they never toured for it. That album sounded like a band breaking up. Down on the Upside didn't sound like that. I wasn't the least surprised to hear he walked. Soundgarden, commercially, got pushed to the side because of "Big Seattle"(ie.Nirvana, Pearl Jam)They were just as good as those two and if not a lot better than some of the other music that came out of there at that time. Soundgarden had something different to offer than some of the other bands that got big because of where they were from. Audioslave, to me, sounded like everything else that was big when they formed. Even though there was a singer, it reminded me of rap-rock for some reason. I couldn't dig on it. I was well aware of what both bands did and what both bands were great at. And mixing the two just did not work.

well i kinda like the first album of audioslave.. the second really disappointed me and the third one got some nice parts but... there's something missing.. too bad
anyway from "Big Four" i love most pearl jam and then soundgarden smiling smiley

Me too. Thanks to Nirvana I discovered PJ and SG but afterwards they became my favorite.
(And I mentioned Audioslave too.)

If anyone has the chance to see Chris Cornell touring with his new band, do it!

I just saw him last night here in Hamilton, and it was honestly one of the best concerts i've ever been to, awesome... thumbs up

He only sang a few of his solo songs....the band played mostly Soundgarden and Audioslave songs (and a few covers too) which was very cool!!

I was so happy to hear the Soundgarden songs especially....Black Hole Sun, Spoonman, Rusty Cage, Outshined, Blow Up The Outside World....and even a little Temple of the Dog, "Hunger Strike", which was sweet! the finger smiley

11/20/08 6:04 PM

I can listen to Cornell in any band situation...He has one of the best rock voices of all time..whether he's with Soundgarden, Temple of the Dog, or Audioslave.

11/20/08 9:49 PM

Yeah he's talented, but I don't like that pop album that he put out that was produced by Timbaland. I love Soundgarden and Audioslave. It would be great if they could reunite, but Cornell's ego probably wouldn't allow it.

11/21/08 10:20 AM

Soundgarden definatey shouldn't reunite. He can't sing the songs right anymore. His voice changed too much and he can't hit the high notes.

He should just make the music he likes. smiling smiley

Honestly, I just saw him in concert last week, and he can definitely still hit those high notes! His voice really hasn't changed much, in my opinion. You can really tell how great his voice still is when he sings some of the older stuff, like 'Rusty Cage'.....holy shit.

I was really impressed with his live performance!

Superunknown & Badmotorfinger are two of my favorite albums of all time. Soundgarden was a hell of a band, i.m.o the best band to come out of the Seattle grunge scene.

11/23/08 8:35 PM

good band but dont want a reunion.
Matt is doing great in Pearl Jam.

11/25/08 4:57 AM

I don't want SG to reunite. It won't be just the same. They did it right. My favorite band. But this just will not work. They would never release another Superunknown

11/25/08 8:16 AM

Have to agree...I miss Soundgarden, but they did what they had to do...I'm just REALLY dissapointed with Audioslave; Like mixing peanut butter with chocolate and getting vinegar.

11/26/08 3:00 AM

I was lucky enough to see Soundgarden live just a few months before they split up in 97 and it was probably one of the best gigs I have ever seen. They were just amazing and I remember feeling so sad when they decided to call it quits.

I actually like Chris Cornell's first solo album and listen to it quite often. The second one has its moments but I'm not really sure how the new album will fit into his past work. I'm just going to listen to it form start to end and see how it sounds when its released.

Chris is a musician and wants to try different things so I can sort of understand why he's doing what he is doing. I think it was also one of the reasons why Soundgarden broke up because I believe Chris wanted to move the band into a different direction.

I'm not sure if we will ever see a Soundgarden reunion but I would love for it to happen.

I enjoyed Audioslave but it was no where near the greatness of anything Soundgarden released.

I would've loved to have seen Soundgarden live!

I really liked Audioslave too and got to see them once in concert....but definitely no where near Soundgarden in my eyes.

I love Chris Cornell's solo stuff, i'm a big fan of his and I like that he does something different with his solo work. And he still has that voice, awesome. He was so good in concert when I went a couple weeks ago!

Soundgarden is amazing. I grew up with the superunknown album, badmotorfinger is amazing too. My favorite song is "searching with my good eye closed", soundgarden is truly an experience and I'd love to get some 80's stuff by them. I heard they were on deep six too, and I'd REALLY love to hear what that sounded like. Reunions are overrated and idk... I just don't see the point. I would see a solo chris cornell concert but I haven't really heard any of his new stuff. Just one song, it was with timbaland, and I think experimenting with new genres is fine but timbaland is NOT really to be considered hiphop. There's dignity in that and I actually do like [alternative] hiphop. Soundgarden is incredible, at least they didn't turn to that! No offense if you like it, it's catchy I guess. Just feel like a great voice is being wasted. :/

04/21/09 1:44 AM

i hope they don't get back together. if they do it makes them no better than faith no more! they should be proud of what they did and keep moving on. except for mr cornell, who needs to stop making shite records.

04/21/09 2:07 AM

Yeah. SG were fantastic. You lot just made me want to spin Louder Than Love, takes me back!

01/01/10 12:43 AM

I don't believe in gravedigging unless there's a damn good reason for doing so. And this is definitely a damn good reason:

Fuck. Yes. 2010 is off to a GREAT start!

01/01/10 4:39 AM

Nice!

I liked CC's first album and some of Audioslave's music, but it's great to see Soundgarden back in action. Watching the above clip makes CC's post Soundgarden work look kind of lame. I wonder what this will mean for Pearl Jam? Wonder if Matt can balance being in both bands.
