http://www.neumagazine.co.uk/upload/alecempire300.jpg

i just discovered this man and he's blowing my fucking mind.

Extensive catalogue... super talented and focused man... unrelentingly anti-racist... never ceases to impress me smiling smiley He's one of those artists that I was drawn to a long time ago and he's evolved at a similar pace as me... always putting out something new to explore and enjoy (like a certain other artist we know and love). It's never hurt that he's very easy on the eyes either.

meow!

He wasn't lying with 'Pleasure is our business' winking smiley

I envy the NIN fans in Europe that were privileged to see Alec open for TR last year... couldn't be more complimentary... especially when YZ was peaking.

i had no idea he opened for NIN, i bet that was a treat.i was aware of atari teenage riot opening for him, though.they are far too noisy and all over the place and i can't make any sense of it.i don't like them but alec on his own is just amazing.i've been listening to the golden foretaste of heaven like ALOT and i can't get enough.intelligence and sacrifice is bad ass too.i'm anxious to hear the rest of his stuff.

yeah - golden fortaste is a fucking rad record. 1000 eyes is my fave on there, but the whole thing has such an awesome mood / groove to it. reminds me of a sorta blend between gary numan & fischerspooner in some ways.

oh & i saw atari teenage riot open for NIN in 1999. twas super rad, indeed.

Ah the big man himself. Bass Terror Special Limited Edition, anybody get it? its unrelentingly beautiful! His recent DJ mixes have been fan-fucking-tastic too, cant stop listening to them on my IPod.
Foretaste is savage alright, saw him a few times on the tour and he blew me away! ICE! also, Kiss of Death live = Hell fuckin yes!

I envy you ripe for seeing ATR supporting Nailz, oh how I wish I had heard of them back then...

So I hear Alec's currently writing new stuff (and Nic Endo has finished her new record!), I speculate a return to some good ol Breakcore grinning smiley

oh, and for those who dont already know, AE is on Last.fm [www.last.fm] like a good internet junkie hehe

12/05/08 5:39 PM

my favorites on the golden foretaste are 'ice', 'new man', 'bug on my windshield' and 'robot love'.i love all of it really but i've noticed that those have the most play in itunes.grinning smiley

haven't gotten bass terror but i'll definitely get to it.i'm having a lot of fun playing catch up with this genius.i haven't been this excited about an artist in awhile.

seen him opening for nin and it was beyond awful. I honestly felt like I had to throw up after his performance. Much too loud, everything came from the computers, all in all it was just plain terrible.
I still like plenty of his songs, but cd only, plz. grinning smiley

12/08/08 7:30 PM

i like it when he says... "you mess me up and i want you to hear!"

Try to find Alec Empire Vs Merzbow sometime. You will not be the same after listening to that CD. It's so insane.

I go day after tomorrow onto his appearance.
I love his music-noises!D
I can't wait!

i will never forgive mr empire for the 'music' atari teenage riot inflicted on us when they supported nin in the uk on the fragility tour. that was half an hour of my life i'll never get back eye rolling smiley

Hmm, don't you all think it would be very cool if Alec Empire and Trent Reznor made some music together?

i think that would be interesting but i don't see them coming to an agreement on any type of sound so i don't think it would get done. LOL!

It would be nothing less than brilliant, they could get it done. Ok, so we've had awesome colabs with Trent's work with El-P (Flyentology) and Alec's work also with El-P (Megaton B-Boy 2000). THEY NEED TO WORK TOGETHER ALREADY, GEEZ!

01/14/09 4:09 PM

El-P has to hook them up, kind of like how female friends who feel sorry for their lonely guy friends try to hook them up with their lonely female friends. Kind of like:

"Trent, you have to meet this friend of mine! He's from Berlin and really cuuuuuuuuuute!"

"Alec, wanna go out? Come on, I know you want to! I'll even bring one of my friends. You'll really like him, he's big muscular and American."

You think that method would work?

Check out his project with Justin K. Broadrick and Kevin Martin, Curse of the Golden Vampire.

i think it would have to be a vocal/music collaboration. both of them working on just the sound would be strange, we already know that trent is a perfectionist and i'm feeling that from alec as well so i'm thinking it would be difficult, but it could happen.

both those videos are awesome! thumbs up

01/15/09 2:16 PM

I don't see how that would be impossible though.

Or what about this, Trent will write a bunch of songs of how he envisions Alec Empire songs to be and Alec does the same for Trent. And then Alec remixes the songs written by Trent and visa versa!

01/15/09 2:32 PM

^ your scenarios make me believe it could be. LOL!

01/16/09 9:25 AM

YES WE CAN! (to quote that guy in your avatar tongue sticking out smiley)

02/20/09 7:02 PM

I'll never forget seeing Atari Teenage Riot in the late 90s, at a tiny club. It was simultaneously one of the best, worst, and funniest shows I have ever seen... it was good because they had a lot of energy, and some interesting audio mayhem was going on. It was bad because the crowd didn't respond well, and Alec got REALLY angry. It was funny because Alec Empire told off a crowd of about 50 people by saying in a really strong German accent "You're asses are all blobs of shit!" Good times. the finger smiley

02/21/09 3:11 PM

his collaboration with el-p is awesome.

the thing i like about alec empire is that he's a anarcho-socialist so you shouldnt feel bad about downloading his lengthy and excellent discography on bittorrent
