They have a whole lot of talent. The Fall of Math is pretty much flawless. I've been finding myself listening to it a lot this past week.

I've been listening to David Gahan's ( Depeche mode) solo cd Hourglass. It's pretty awesome. Check out #2 song on cd, Kingdom. It rocks.

I was looking for a post about these guys or I was going to make one myself. One of my favorite bands. Has anyone seen them live? Saw them about a year ago as an opening act and they were phenomenal! Nice guys too, we drank whiskey with them before and after their set behind the venue. They are coming back to my city in November on a headlining tour that should be highlight of the year.
As for favorite albums it would have to be a tie between Fall of Math and Destruction of Small Ideas.
I read a blog on their myspace saying they will have a remix on the upcoming Cure remix album that will be 20 minutes long. Well I guess they did 4 remixes and The Cure liked them all so much they are stringing them together as one track.

Or they did a remix that is 20 minutes long yawning smiley

I want to see them live really bad, I found out about their stop here the day after they performed and I was really upset.

This is from the blog I read.

"The Cure asked us personally to remix all four of their new singles, which was a lot of noise condensed into a short two and a half week period. We came out the other side with bruised ears and cautious smiles. It seems that their label have upped the stakes by adding some big names to their remix e.p - bands we imagine you have about the same amount of respect for as we do. They'll certainly open up our music to new markets we've not been able to reach yet! The Cure though are fucking great and have managed to negotiate around the fact that nobody has heard of us by stitching all of our remixes together and putting it on the e.p as one 20minute track. Four remixes in one! It has been called 'Exploded Head Syndrome'. It is reassuringly confusing, so we recommend that you check it out. It's out September 13th."

That sucks you missed their show man. They might be coming through your town in October or November though. Worth looking into ahead of time to avoid missing them again.

Saw them opening for The Cure earlier this year. I didn't really know any of their stuff before, but I loved their show. It was full of energy and really amazing. I've been checking out more of their stuff afterwards, and I really like it.

Radio Protector for the win.

Also, all of their albums and singles are brilliant.

They're crazy! But for some reason I keep missing their concerts. sad smiley

65DAYSOFSTATIC – ESCAPE FROM NEW YORK CD/DVD

On the 20th April 2009, we’ll be releasing a double disc 65daysofstatic album.

What’s on disc one?
Ten tracks of 65daysofstatic playing live in New York, recorded at both Madison Square Garden and (the actually far more atmospheric) Radio City Music Hall.

What’s on disc two?
A 75 minute road movie comprised of some face-frying live footage from various shows in the US, from large arenas to little roadside bars, spliced with somewhat self-absorbed interviews and quite a lot of footage of us killing time and generally having fun or being tired in the giant playgrounds of America and Europe. It looks, sounds and tastes good, even if we don’t.

If that looks and sounds like something you’d like to watch while you’re waiting for The Dark Knight to re-seed on a torrent, then you will be able to purchase it through the normal channels (record shops & merchstands), and the audio will be available on iTunes and all the other less-monopolising digital outlets, courtesy of the mighty Monotreme Records, our home since 2003.
Hopefully it will serve to distract from the fact that we have failed to complete our fourth and probably final (only kidding, this is all we got) album, despite having written over TWO MILLION SONGS and conducting regular bareknuckle fistfights. But we are getting there slowly. Or are we?

“Who’s driving this thing? Does anyone know CPR? Mum! Put the big light on!” and other statements of panic, from 65. xxxx

Naturally, the Fall of Math. Last.fm has got all the tracks streamable for this album.

And Destruction of Small Ideas is my favourite album.

If you like Retreat! Retreat!, try this band, too - And So I Watch You From Afar. Listen to the third track (A Little Solidarity Goes a Long Way) if you haven't got much time.

i recently got into them and i love what they do with the post-rock sound, even though they can be considered other genres too.

could not agree with you more. it's easily their most critically slated record, but i find it deeply satisfying & quite moving to listen to, in a way that their other records aren't. i mean don't get me wrong - fucking love everything they do ... including that new dance parties EP, but TDOSI has a special place in my heart. have yet to tire of it & listen to it 2-3 times a week at least in some way or form.

but i'm glad this new cd / dvd is coming out because if there's anything they've yet to really show the world at large, it's how fucking mindblowing their live show is. never heard anything like it & there records don't even come close.

02/25/09 5:54 PM

Just picked up One Time for All Time. I really love what they do with the percussion on that album.

Everything they've made is pretty much gold. I am a huge fan of 65dos.

If anybody hasn't checked it out, listen to the song "The Major Cities of the World are being Destroyed One By One by the Monsters" off the Radio Protector Single, it's utterly beautiful.

yeah, that track is a beauty for sure. one of my personal faves too.

there's a new trailer for their live cd / dvd on the site too. worth a look. plus i've just heard through the grapevine that they played their first new headline show last night in their home town & brought out at arsenal of new songs ... exiting times!

One of the greatest bands around right now. For some reason their last CD got mixed reviews, while I think it's the best work so far.

03/02/09 11:08 AM

trying my best to see them live, they're playing near from where i live.

full promo clip / music video from their forthcoming film has just been posted on their site. worth a look.

static totally disoriented me stoned.

03/25/09 11:58 PM

Its been awhile since I've listened to this band. I remember seeing them open up for The Cure last year...they were pretty good.

03/26/09 3:00 PM

you guys check out the video? the colours / film quality is nice.

03/31/09 2:59 PM

I tried The Fall Of Math, thought it was a bit "meh" not amazingly awesome but not shit either *grabs shield from rocks

04/08/09 11:47 PM

when i first heard it back in 2004/5 or so i was in awe. a band that had taken aphex / squarepusher & combined it with a sorta NIN punk rock thing. plus it was all instrumental & with awesome post-apocalyptic samples ... it filled i hole in my musical landscape i never even realized i had. i've still yet to hear anything as good / like it.

if ever in doubt about 'fall of math', listen to 'fix the sky a little'. that track alone is worth the album purchase. simply beautiful.

THE CURE SELECTED PATRICK STUMP, PETE WENTZ, GERARD WAY, JADE PUGET, AND THOSE TOOLS FROM 30 SECONDS TO MARS. srsly I so excited about The Cure Remix EP until I found that out, I've lost some respect in them.

Been meaning to buy some of their albums.

04/09/09 2:08 PM

yeah - that EP is a nightmare. but it's worth it for the 65 remix. they outdid themselves on that one.

04/09/09 4:01 PM

That EP has to be a fucking joke but I still feel like getting it for that 65daysofstatic 4 Single Remix.

04/12/09 12:19 PM

yeah do it. so many different ideas in that one remix ... they clearly wanted to do robert smith proud for taking them out on tour with him.
