pask posted:...considering billy recorded nearly all the walls of guitars on gish & siamese dream himself, as well as a lot bass work and writing the lyrics, he should stop reforming different versions of pumpkins, and become the smashing pumpkins himself, as a solo artist, but recording all the instruments himself... maybe with a drummer... those drum loops he uses get boring real fast... those songs would be better without them...
Well, this sort of happened in recent moths.
What I don't get is why people still go on talking about D'arcy and James. They left. It's done. They weren't really as great as people say. Yes, they were good musicians, but they weren't as good as Billy and Jimmy.
I actually like all of their stuff and that's because I never go:
Oh, shit, this isn't how the Smashing Pumpkins should sound., instead I go:
Oh, so this is how the Smashing Pumpkins sound now?.... D'you know what I mean?
I'm not arrogant enough to tell musicians how to play music. What I do is, I take music as it is and like it for what it is, not for what it should be, that's why I still fucking prefer
Machina I & II to any given album that's on the top 10 of
Billboard.
Pretty much, I like all Smashing Pumpkins albums, because at least Billy does what he wants. I don't feel that he's all about the money and I don't really feel like he's ripping me off. I think he's a great musician, I like their albums and even if it stays like it is right now: Billy Corgan = Smashing Pumpkins... When was it different, really?
I totally get what he's about and support him and all ways I can. I don't feel personally disappointed by Billy Corgan. I'm not that type of guy.
