Nightwish (and other good "beauty and the beast" bands)

Am I the only one who loves this amazing band?

I love their classical sound. I am still upset that tarja left the band though. The new girl does not sound as good.

I love bands that have female singers that sound really pretty and male singers that sound like demons.

are there any other bands like this besides theatere of tragedy and tristania?

Lacuna Coil?

I'm not really into this style, but Epica is pretty good, way better than Nightwish, imo.

oh, I'd also recommend Blutengel, even though they're not gothic metal, or whatever this style is called. But they do have that dark thing going on, and they also have male and female voices.

Female soprano + death growls are overused in gothic metal and irritate me like hell-in fact, the entire genre does.
I used to love Nightwish but kinda lost interest in them after they ditched Tarja, the new bitch is a crappy singer. Lacuna Coil is OK. Beseech is another band with melodic female + male vocals that I usually recommend to folks who're into this genre.

I don't think many metal fans from Finland actually consider Nightwish to be very good. Seems more like a "pop" thing.

But there's at least one thing I love about it: it spawned this video! [www.youtube.com]

^ hahaha! so that was the song my friend josh was talking about. eh i really dont like lacuna coil. they are too main stream and really crappy sounding. Theatre of tragedy is awesome though. The lead singer has a really pretty voice. I am not too big of a fan of death growling. But they pull it off really well. It sounds cheesy with other bands.
