04/02/10 12:25 AM

When Trent releases new music there will probably be an influx of new members.

Still hoping Trent covers "Strawberry Fields Forever."

It's gotten rave reviews--been listed as one of the top albums of the 00s in some magazines. Never heard it. I'll have to give it a listen. Never been a fan of Jay-Z--think the critical acclaim is misplaced. Still, I'd like to hear this album.

McCartney: It's a 'blessing' The Beatles never re-formed
April 28, 2010, 2:33 PM EST

WENN -- Sir Paul McCartney is glad The Beatles never re-formed, insisting it would have spoiled their legacy.

The Fab Four considered reuniting after their split in 1970, right up until John Lennon's death a decade later.

But McCartney considers it a "blessing" they never made it back into the studio together.

Bing: More on the Beatles unseen photos

He tells Q magazine, "There was a bit of talk of The Beatles at certain points. What used to happen was three of us would fancy it and then maybe George or John or I wouldn't. In a way it was a blessing. We'd done it, why spoil it? Whether it's God given or not, those four people were a pretty good mix."

You ought to. I really dig it. I actually heard it before I heard the White Album, because cd shops always take 30 tracks as an excuse to jack the price up. So I ended up downloading the Gray Album because it was the cheap alternative. So when I hear Helter Skelter, it registers as 99 Problems. I digress. Great listen, check it out.

Listening to the mono version of "Tomorrow Never Knows" is kind of a mindfuck, esp. the solos.

I love the Grey Album. It's AMAZING how good Mother Nature's Son & December 4th go together

I tried to find the Grey album but can't. Looks like amazon doesn't sell it on CD. Was it even issued on CD?

05/05/10 9:00 PM

one of my favorite covers here.

Watched an awesome documentary that aired on the BBC a few days ago, cant seem to recall the name, basically a behind the scenes, and a lot of stuff that had never been told before. Good stuff. Very interesting. Not a very big Beatles fan though, myself.

There's a pretty good one from the 80s, but the anthology from 95/96 was the definitive documentary.

I'm not allowed to use Y. Ono's name in the Beatles thread. Pity, because I just downloaded her 09 album Between My Head and the Sky. Its pretty great.

I haven't heard it yet, but I loved her debut album, which was released the same day as John's version and has a similar album cover:
Btw, it seems pretty silly that that name is banned.

A Day In The Life is one of my favorite songs ever.

I love The Beatles.

I havnt heard either of those actually. Is Ono's or John's better? and are the same songs, just done differently?

They are two separate albums that feature the same band, but with completely different songs. YO's is more of a jam album, whereas John's is more of a traditional rock album of finished songs. If you are a John Lennon fan, his Plastic Ono Band album is absolutely essential listening. He was undertaking primal screaming therapy before he recorded it, and one can tell. It's one of the rawest, most emotional, engaging rock albums of all time. Can't believe it's 40 years old.

nin.com has become petty and silly and (I'm not talking about the mods or their handling of things necessarily here) the loonys need to be given the boot so the adults can have good conversations about a wide variety of topics.

I'm done for the time being I think. Could someone ban me please?

Y OK O ONO Y OK O ONO Y OK O ONO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

yay for free speech

these are my favorite beatle tunes

across the universe
baby's in black
back in the USSR
get back
happiness is a warm gun
help
hey jude
i am the walrus
i'm so tired
julia
let it be
she said, she said
strawberry fields
ballad of john and yoko
ticket to ride
tomorrow never knows
while my guitar gently weeps
within you and without you
you've got to hide your love away
