Martin Atkins - Pigface

Hey guys,

Bit late notice I know, but in about an hour I'm attending a talk/Q&A in Birmingham, UK given by Martin Atkins (has played with NIN/Killing Joke/Ministry/Public Image Ltd) and is the leader/creator of the Pigface supergroup (yes, the group that Trent did 'Suck' with).

Don't know how many people will be there but if I get the chance i'll be asking some NIN related questions. I'll let you guys know how it goes!

Really? I LOVE Pigface! Let us know what happens. How cool would it be if Martin, Trent, Ogre, Al, Chris, etc. all got together again and toured?

It was a really great and informative session. Martin shared wisdom and anecdotes from his time on the road with Public Image Ltd, Killing Joke and various bands. He shared lots of tips for bands that tour, about how to budget effectively and effectively promoting your band through merchandising etc. I bought a copy of his book "Tour: Smart" which is packed with more of the same and has contributions by many people in the industry from tour managers to artists, techs, etc etc etc. (check out www.tstouring.com) He spoke about the "new model" of the music industry and pointed towards people like Trent, Radiohead and Prince being pro-active and finding new and creative ways of getting product to the fans.

NIN-wise, he played the drums on "Wish" which I didn't know before. That was him in the "Head Like A Hole" video too. I said thanks to him for making the "Suck" multi-tracks available and he said as far as he knew they are the only multi-tracks featuring Trent outside of official NIN releases. Very cool.

He does these seminars and sessions all over the world but is generally based in Chicago. If any of you have the opportunity to go to one of them, I highly recommend it!

These are the rest of the UK dates that he's doing over the next few weeks and there's more info at www.tstouring.com
