I agree with most of you, the newer stuff is ok...but old RHCP is so much better.

You must all agree though they are great live. Seen them twice and the shows were awesome.

Yeah, that's one of my favourite RHCP songs!

Well it got love here. Everything was good until after BSSM.

I actually think the opposite. While I like the older albums, I don't think they were a great band until Mother's Milk and I love everything they did after that. After BSSM, my favorite RHCP album is One Hot Minute, which I think is a totally overlooked album. Maybe Navaro wasn't the best fit for that band, but that was a really cool one-off album that had a touch of Jane's.

I am down with that statement. Aeroplane is still my favorite Chili Peppers song.

recently got into this band, but grown up listening to them. Love the early stuff, think the later stuff is just as great, just different. Love the funk/punk fusion kind of thing in the early albums. love rhcp

FUCK ME!!!! FUCK. Bastards are putting out a new album. Time to install my ipod into my kick ass 2000 Neon!

It's probably going to suck. Their more recent material is fucking overrated. Half the time, they sounded like they were trying to rewrite "Under The Bridge" because they made money off of that song. There were a few good songs on their last three albums, but nothing really redeeming. Blood Sugar Sex Magik was pretty much their last good album. (Either that or One Hot Minute. Haven't heard it all the way through yet.) I hope they do something closer to Mother's Milk this time; seems unlikely, though.

I saw RHCP twice in 2004 and it was quite possibly the greatest gig I've been too.

Just pre-ordered the album and waiting for the code for pre-sale tickets to arrive. With any luck I'll be seeing them again in November. Woo hoo!

I have to say, Blood Sugar Sex Magik is probably on my list of desert island albums.

The new Chilli Pepper song.....NEEDS MORE COWBELL!!!

08/02/11 11:46 AM

Is the new album any good?? I'll probably get it soon ..

MOAR COWBELL!! .. FTW!!!

New single is average, but it's better than I expected seeing as Fraciante's no longer around. I'm going to see them in November, should be a blast!

Where are you seeing them in November? I've got tickets for Glasgow grinning smiley

Californication was their last decent album. My hopes aren't high for the new one, knowing that John Frusciante has left the group.

Didn't realize that they had a new album out tomorrow. I'll be picking it up along with the new one from Tommy Stinson.

Awesome! Nah I'm seein them at the O2, on the second night. I actually love the album now. It's original and different but still sounds like good-ol' Chili's. Can't wait for the gig!

Gave the album quite a few of listens and no, it's just not doing it for me. Still a big fan of their old work though.

I hope John Frusciante starts working on a new solo album soon. His last output, The Empyrean, was amazing.

Totally agree with you there. I really couldn't really find a smooth groove to jam to. I've tried a few times and found myself keep skipping tracks. Hopefully it'll grow on me.

09/01/11 4:32 PM

^^^ Unfortunately I feel the sameway. I did like 'Look Around' though and there show at the Roxy in L.A.

09/04/11 12:26 PM

I'm listening to it for the first time now. I quite like it. Not exactly sure how to describe it.

09/04/11 10:06 PM

They're just not THE Red Hot Chili Peppers without John Frusciante's amazing guitar work. Josh is a good guitar player but you can DEFINITELY hear the difference and feel something is missing.

09/08/11 9:30 AM

6.5/10

GOOD album don't get me wrong, but nothing mind blowing.

A few good songs (about three) but the rest I probably won't ever listen to again.

Didn't really expect anything more tbh so I'm not that disappointed really.
