I don't hate her. She's OK, but she's not Tori Amos. I don't get what the big deal is. The more I hear about Amanda Palmer, the less I like her. I guess I'm like that with anyone who goes mainstream or gets over played/ overdiscussed. I'm just basically sick of her. That's all. I've been listening to a lot of Regina Spektor lately.

Nirvana was such a mediocre band. They weren't all that great. Pearl Jam beat the crap out of Nirvana as far as music sales and overall popularity were concerned. That's why Kurt Cobain was always jealous of Eddie Vedder. Nirvana was breaking up right before Kurt killed himself. He was a wimp and a crybaby. Why do people continue to glorify this loser? The only memorable thing Kurt Cobain ever did was shoot himself in the head. Pearl Jam is still out there rocking and filling up stadiums. Eddie Vedder was and always will be a better man than Kurt Cobain.

Personally, I find anything that achieves a certain amount of popularity to be overrated; regardless of how good a band may be.

Any band that in millions of peoples eyes has achieved a literal 'godlike' status and placed on a pedestal. Which is when a band no longer viewed as human. This includes NIN. NIN is overrated.

I may have unleashed the floodgates.

I also believe that part of the next step in human evolution is differentiating between 'worst' and 'overrated'.

I would list more bands/musicians, but if you take my views into consideration, what I think is overrated is pretty obvious.

Kurt Cobain was someone who a lot of people identified with. The fact that you don't see what was so "special" about him, just says you don't. Don't bother listening to interviews and shit, they won't tell you anything.
And please, SLTS was one of their worst songs and from their worst album. Listen to something like Frances Farmer Will Have Her Revenge On Seattle/ Radio Friendly Unit Shifter/ Negative Creep (Fan favourite), then you may come back and tell us how much you hate them.
I'm sick of people judging Nirvana by STLS, CAYA and Aneurysm.
Being the better "man" was something that was something Cobain's anti-thesis would do.
Their audience wasn't the one they were looking for in the first place. They are overrated by the mainstream, who don't even give a shit what their message was. I don't know why I'm even defending them - The ones who are SUPPOSED to like them, like them. So yeah, pointless post...
By the way, I find Pearl Jam to be overrated. Grunge? They're (their first album, at least) isn't even alternative. But overall, they're not too bad.

Mastodon? Now that is a lame attempt to think of some band that that has had some recent success to name drop. You can't even give a reason. FAIL. Mastodon desereve to be where they are at right now. It has been a slow, yet steady climb for them since they started with Remission and Call of the Mastodon. So I just don't see how that get's them the "overrated" title. Have you even heard any of thier albums? I can't think of a band that get's more creative in the story aspect as these guys do. Plus they are all extremely great at thier instruments.
