One Day As A Lion

Not many people know about them (I think)... but when they figure out who the lead singer is... they will probably want to listen to them.

12/30/08 8:44 PM

!!!

[en.wikipedia.org]

maybe not unheard of, but they're awesome and more people need to know about them.

IAMX

READ!!!

good choice! i was going to say IAMX.

16 volt - they are a very awesome industrial band.

Rotersand

Suicide commando

Mogwai
these are all pretty rad...
Also, I just discovered the music of Lauren stork...it's kinda interesting.

01/02/09 8:04 PM

The Matches- Decomposer and A Band In Hope are genius albums...
Say Anything- this is a stretch, but most people know them but only know their worst song.
Brand New- Not too popular, but The Devil and God are Raging Inside Me is brilliant, check it out A.S.A.P.
Pinback- Probably the most mellow band I listen to, but still amazing music.
Reggie and The Full Effect- When they're (he's) being serious, he can write some great music.
At The Drive-in- Really acclaimed but not really ever famous- this is going against the rules, since they broke up, but check them out anyway.

01/03/09 9:38 AM

Dog Fashion Disco - Circus metal group from Baltimore, Serj Tankian did a song with them on there break thru album.
Retard-O-Bot - kind of an electo-industrial group, alot like Mindless Self Indulgence.
16volt - phenomenal industrial group alot like NIN. check out there new album FULLBLACKHABIT

01/14/09 9:51 PM

C.S.S.O. (Clotted Symmetric Sexual Organ) - awesome grindcore from Japan which got more rocky and experimental towards the end. Excellent use of theremin!

not really anything i would normally listen to but still pretty cool. they're called "elusive parallelogram"

01/15/09 3:47 PM

Don't know if it's been mentioned, but i recently discovered a really great band called The Birthday Massacre.

Although i consider these next two bands to be well known, it's not industrial, rock, or electronic. So it might be worth mentioning it here,
Iron & Wine and Belle and Sebastian.

Th' Legendary Shack Shakers - Hillbilly punk with a southern gothic edge to them. fucking brilliant.

Chris Connelly-If you only know him by his 'industrial' work, you should check out his solo stuff. It's beautiful.

01/22/09 8:29 PM

Someone told me The Jesus Lizard are reforming. Dunno if it's true, but I kinda hope it isn't. There's always the chance they'll suck and spoil their rep

heard that too also heard it was a "fleeting reunion" whatever that means

oh and doomguy13 i dont know if you ever heard it before but Deltron 3030 is pretty badass, Virus and 3030 are good shit

01/23/09 3:34 PM

The Ropes! They have to be one of the greatest indie/pop/alternative bands out there.

I also love:

- Her Space Holiday
- Air
- Raine Mada
- Nada Surf
- Kasabian
- Lykke Li
- The Scene Aesthetic

What happened to this thread?

If anyone here is into shoegaze like Slowdive and likes ambient stuffs like Brian Eno and so on, you'll probably like The Radio Dept.

Recommended songs by The Radio Dept.
Strange things will happen
Freddie and the trojan horse
Pet grief
Deliverance
I wanted you to feel the same

And another great swedish band: Tiger Lou.
Maybe some people here will like it.
Apparently not wellknown abroad.

Recommended songs by Tiger Lou
Oh horatio
The Loyal
Warmth
Functions
Nixon

And then of course we also have kent, quite wellknown band in sweden these days.
Some of you might have heard of them allready though.

Hope someone will like it!thumbs up

I was worried about that with Dinosaur Jr. too, but that worked out, so I'm optimistic about the Jesus Lizard.

Resident Hero

The misadventures of this alt-rock trio have become frequent material for their OTHER creative project (both the frontman and the drummer are in an improvisational comedy troupe). Give their myspace a listen and you'll hear they deserve way more of a break then they've been getting.

Don't let the fact that their friends with Flyleaf fool you either: these guys are half as annoying and twice as talented.

05/24/09 10:10 PM

Alpha Galates - people know them if they're into the vancouver scene, but I've seen one of their videos on much music which is a toronto station [or at least I think so]
Smile empty soul - this is one of my favorite bands but if I mention them not many people have heard of them.

05/24/09 10:12 PM

I thought everyone knew king crimson!

05/26/09 9:49 AM

Queenadreena
- When noisy: rawer Queens of the Stone Age-y guitar riffs. When quieter: like a broken retro record playing. With crazed banshee/ evil child / siren vocals. One of my favourite bands.

Blonde Redhead
- Cinematic, melancholic. Vaguely shoegazer-ish.

Grafton Primary
- They're electro. And retrotastic. And SO much fun live.

JHNO
- Electronica. Lookie! Downloads from the artist!

Amon Tobin
- More Electronica.
