What do you do when you have writer's block on making music?

I've been suffering writer's block for the past 2 weeks and it's really bothering me. I've read a lot about it and I know it's very much some psychological thing mainly. There have been times where I was able to throw in like multiple tracks per month but now I can't even get a good damn thing out there. I just wanted to ask you guys what do YOU do in order to get through your writer's block.

I know how you feel, I haven't been able to write a complete song in a while. What I am trying to do is just listen to a bunch of different music, new and old, and try and draw inspiration from it.

Ummmmmm.....
1. I switch instruments
2. I listen to interesting music and music that makes me feel good (Sonic Youth)

listen to just the beats in other songs, get rhythms stuck in your head. Randomly assign a different tone to each beat. Reorder those tones into something that makes sense to you, add your own rhythm section to it and you're on your way.

do this in the car, and I guarantee you will end up with krautrock.

As long as I know, writer's block is not that you don't make good songs. Writer's block is that, somehow, you don't like anything you compose

For example, I had that episode for more than a year. I didn't liked anything I did during those months. Anyway, I recorded it all. When the writer's block passed away, I found myself listening to the songs I had composed during my writer's block and really loved some of them

The problem is in you, not your music. It's a state of mind. The wrong state of mind

And, hey, prepare for the creative outbreak following the end of the block. I made a whole album in a bunch of weeks grinning smiley

Damn thanks guys! I able to finally compose something last night that I'm going to continue working on. Black holedays thanks man because you were right and I figured it out last night right before I read these replies. It's true, your superego can sometimes be too critical. I can't wait to get back to that point where I'm composing an entire album and loving eerything I do. Thanks everyone you've all helped me very much.

It also depends if you write the music first or the lyrics first. If it's the former, just go all out and improvise on the spot
